00:051945 bombing of the Japanese city. Shiro Suzuki says it's unfortunate that US and British
00:12ambassadors have refused to attend over what they describe as a snub. Friday's event marks
00:1779 years since the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki,
00:22killing 74,000 people and exposing many survivors to radiation exposure.
00:30For the 79 years since the atomic bomb was dropped,
00:34humanity has abided by the principle that nuclear weapons must never be used.
00:41However, with no end in sight to Russia's invasion of Ukraine,
00:45and concern that the Middle East conflict will spread wider,
00:50that important moral principle has come under threat. We're facing a critical situation.
