What is the hardest Olympic Sport?

00:00pole vaulting requires extraordinary hand, eye, strength, and nuts.
00:06Yeah.
00:06The pole does have to work.
00:08Pole vaulting's hard.
00:10It's an Olympics. You're doing two things at once. You're not only doing your sport,
00:14you're also cooling down because it's hot. Like it's not...
00:17Badminton is way more difficult.
00:20Do you know what I'm saying, Wiki?
00:21I mean, I get the vibe.
00:23There's a lot of swimming though.
00:25Swimming? So what?
00:26But it's treading water.
00:29Everybody treads water.
00:34There's also people like jumping on top of you.
00:36Yes, you've never tackled somebody in the water. People do it all day long.
00:39Not in an open ocean.
00:40Pools all over the United States of America, people do it.
00:43Coming onto my side of the room when it comes to water sports in the Olympics.
00:48After 2016, they did a poll of Olympians who voted water polo the toughest Olympic sport.
00:54Wow.
00:55Yes, I'm reading right now.
00:56Okay.
00:56Business insider. They've never been wrong.
00:59How do you feel about the fast walking?
01:02That's nothing.
01:03It's technical.
01:04Why is that an Olympic sport?
01:06Yeah. Some of the stuff is stupid. The pole vaulting is very dangerous.
01:10Yeah.
01:11That would be...
01:11And hard. It's hard.
01:12I would be like, oh damn, I'm going to miss the little hole that the pole goes in.
01:15That's the hardest one by far. I mean, you got basketball.
01:19Oh yeah.
01:20That's all NBA guys. You got badminton.
01:23Yeah.
01:24I mean, that's...
01:24I would agree with you on that.
01:26That's a long game. I mean, I would...
01:27Greg, you would get smoked in badminton.
01:29Oh really?
01:30Yes, he would. These guys are insanely good.
01:34Greg, I would agree.
01:35I have to say...
01:35Archery.
01:36New Scheim is the best edition the show has ever had. He is the best. I love how much it bothers Greg.
01:42I would agree that pole vaulting is the most difficult.
01:46Somebody who, their only experience playing badminton is on the Wii,
01:51is not somebody that I'm afraid of.
01:52No, I mean, I have played badminton before in actual real life.
01:56I would love to see you play volleyball. That'd be hilarious.
01:58Oh, shots fired.
02:00Volleyball's not that hard, but it's the most difficult thing to do because you got to run
02:04with the pole and the pole's like, what, 15 feet long?
02:07Yeah, and it's metal where you put the pole in.
02:10Yeah, and it's probably not that big, right?
02:12No.
02:13So you have to have enough ability to build up enough speed carrying that pole,
02:17put it into a small hole.
02:19That's what she said.
02:21Are they even treading water the whole entire time?
02:24Yes.
02:25Are you sure about that?
02:27It looks like they're standing up now.
02:29Greg, I have an idea. You know, I'm an idea guy.
02:31Next year's roadshow, each roadshow has an athletic event where you and Chime take on each other.
02:37I would love to see Greg in one of those water polo helmets.
02:40Because we can end it at the beachcomber on the beach down below at Marconi beach there,
02:44whatever it is, there's a huge beach volleyball net.
02:47I can tread water forever.
02:49Like I was a camp counselor.
02:50Yeah, like the water polo in my heart.
02:53Unbelievable.
02:54You would not be able to tread water for one minute.
02:59At Camp Thoreau in Concord, I used to teach water safety.
03:04Like I know how to, if I'm in the water, you probably don't know how to do this.
03:08I know how to remove my pants.
03:10If I had fallen off a boat or something, remove my pants, flip them over my head,
03:16collect the water, and then float on them for hours if necessary.
03:20Did you also show them how to do cannonballs into a pool?
03:24That was a weight-related failure.
03:26I think the hottest thing with the water polo is going from a tread to a swim.
03:29How did you not go with Fat Camp, Chime?
03:31That was right there.
03:33Great movie.
03:34I was probably at that Fat Camp.
03:35Heavyweights, A plus.
03:36But they could both do that.
03:38Like they could do water polo, volleyball.
03:39Neither one of them could do, and I think this is making Greg's point,
03:42neither one of them could do pole vaulting.
03:44Right.
03:44That's extremely-
03:45Pole vaulting shouldn't be an Olympic sport.
03:47As I said, it's a hard-
03:48It absolutely should.
03:49It's dumb.
03:50What do you mean it should?
03:51Who invented that though?
03:52I keep-
03:53Who cares?
03:54How did somebody in the 1920s say,
03:58let's take a giant pole and see if somebody can vault themselves up over a bar?
04:04The high jump makes sense because you actually have to jump over it,
04:07but the pole vault is dumb.
04:08You have to-
04:09The ab work that needs to go into getting yourself on the pole first,
04:14getting your legs above your head to then get over the-
04:18Yeah, but if everybody has the same length pole to vault with,
04:23anybody that can do it, and I don't discredit the fact that you can do it,
04:27but anybody that can do it should be able to do it at whatever the highest height is.
04:30No, because there's probably a way that they have to pull down the pole so the pole bends
04:35and then propels them.
04:36Correct.
04:37So that looks very difficult.
04:38All right, we gotta take a break.
