00:00The Shah Alam High Court has ordered a former senior costing manager and two members of
00:06his family to repay his employers 43.5 million ringgit on an admission of debt they made
00:12when confronted with the threat of legal action.
00:16Justice Juhu Kha Singh ordered Michael Chua, his wife and mother, to pay Mudejaya Corporation
00:21Berhad the judgment sum after the trio admitted to owing the construction firm 65 million
00:27ringgit in a settlement arrangement.
00:30Mudejaya had sued Chua, his wife Tanka Luan and mother Yeo Siok Poy to recover 72.2 million
00:37ringgit in secret profits allegedly received by them without the company's knowledge.
00:43In his judgment, Juhu said the secret profits received by the trio must have come from overpayments
00:49made by Mudejaya to its subcontractors, which was then channelled to Chua and his family
00:54members without the company's knowledge.
00:57The judge also found no evidence to support Chua's defence that he had returned the excess
01:03monies collected to Mudejaya.
