00:00Consumers are now hoping for a 2 to 3 peso increase in the price of eggs in the past few weeks.
00:08And sellers are hoping for a lower price next month.
00:13This is Isaiah Merapentes' report.
00:18Jonathan is already buying eggs in Balintawak Market early in the morning.
00:21He is a chef in a private company.
00:24He buys eggs every day to feed his grandchildren.
00:28That's why he feels the price increase.
00:31Sometimes it depends on the day. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down.
00:35The lowest price I bought was P225. Now it's P240.
00:39Some sellers are also buying eggs because of the price of eggs.
00:44The price of eggs increased from P2 to P3 compared to the past few weeks.
00:49The small size is P750 for each piece, while P225 for each tray.
00:55The medium size is P8 for each piece, while P240 for each tray.
01:01The large size is P850 for each piece, while P255 for each tray.
01:08The extra large is P9 for each piece, while P270 for each tray.
01:14But if the price of chicken eggs went up, the price of duck eggs went down.
01:20In the past, it was P16. Now, it's P14.50.
01:24Because of the lack of supply of eggs, some vendors can't sell their eggs anymore.
01:28It's hard to sell eggs because some chickens died because of the rain and flood.
01:36The sellers are hoping that the price of eggs will go down next month,
01:40if there's no calamity in the country.
01:43The vendors in Balintawak Market admitted that the price of eggs went up,
01:48but they're hoping that it will go back to normal.
