Marcos to seek Yulo's advice on how to improve PH sports program   President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Aug. 7, 2024 says he will ask Olympic gold medalist and gymnast Carlos Yulo what the Philippine government should do to improve the country’s sports program and produce more world-class athletes. The President was responding to a question on whether the Office of the President was eyeing to give a separate monetary reward for Yulo after his historic double gold victory in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. 00:00He deserves everything that anybody is willing to give him.

00:04Actually, because he has a monetary reward,

00:08wherever he comes from,

00:10when we meet, I ask him,

00:16what else can the government help

00:19so that our medalists can increase in the Olympics?

00:24And he went through all of that.

00:27He went to the Tokyo Olympics.

00:29He has now won his two gold medals in the Paris Olympics.

00:34So, what else can we do?

00:37Because we know that these athletes,

00:41they are not only thinking about themselves,

00:44but they want to improve their performance in their sport

00:50and in the entire sport of the Philippines.

00:52So that is really, I think, a more significant effort.

00:59And that's why I will ask Kaloy Udo,

01:02what else can the government do so that our medalists can increase?

01:07How much do you have, Mr. President?

01:09How much can you send for the national team?

01:13I'm going to ask him what can we do.

01:16He has already 20 billion.

01:18I don't know.

01:20I think he doesn't need money anymore.

01:23But for me, my interest is for the medalists like him to increase.

01:27What needs to be done?

01:29Do we have to change the organization?

01:31Do we have to, how do we, who needs to be funded?

01:41My story.

01:46That's what Kaloy Udo needs.

01:49But Kaloy Udo,

01:50I think he will continue to greater heights in sport.

01:55Because he has been a world champion for a long time.

01:58He should have won the Tokyo Olympics.
