00:33And the leader of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, called
00:37on the front's support in the Gaza Strip to keep up the fight against the Israeli occupation
00:41forces.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana,
00:50Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
00:52In Venezuela, senior citizens mobilized in support of President Nicolás Maduro and in
00:56defense of peace.
00:57On Tuesday, senior citizens mobilized in the city of Caracas to defend the victory and
01:02re-election of Nicolás Maduro as president and in defense of sovereignty and peace.
01:07In this sense, the grandparents of the homeland urged the different sectors of the country
01:12to cease their attempts to generate violence and fill citizens with hatred in order to
01:16start building a peaceful and progressive Venezuela.
01:20They also thanked President Maduro for following Chavez's project, which offers so much hope
01:25to the people.
01:30President Nicolás Maduro also referred to the commemoration of the 200th anniversary
01:35of the Battle of Hunin.
01:39Today is a very special day because today we have to remember to our guide, to our inspiration,
01:50to the father that was born here under this sky of Caracas.
01:56Today is a day to remember to the great liberator SimĂłn BolĂvar, 200 years after 200 years
02:03of the battle, 200 years of glory.
02:08In Venezuela, the Supreme Court of Justice reiterated the summons to former presidential
02:13candidates of the elections held on July 28th.
02:16The President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Carizlia RodrĂguez, emphasized that all the
02:20summoned persons have been notified.
02:23At the same time, she reminded the date and time when each candidate must appear before
02:27the court in order to file all the electoral instruments of legal relevance that are in
02:33the possession of the political parties.
02:35Moreover, RodrĂguez reiterated the importance of the attendance of all former candidates,
02:40while pointing out that failure to do so would entail the consequences set forth in the legal
02:46system in force.
02:55The Supreme Court of Justice of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela considers it appropriate
02:59to reiterate the commitment and the will before the Venezuelan people to do justice.
03:16Therefore nothing will stop us, in our holy mission, be published, registered, and communicated,
03:22and comply with what has been ordered, given, signed and sealed, in the office room of the
03:38electoral chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, in Caracas, on the 6th day of August,
03:44in the year 2024.
03:48In Venezuela, authorities paid tribute to the liberator SimĂłn BolĂvar and his army
03:52after commemorating 200 years of the Battle of JunĂn.
03:56Different activities were held at the National Pantheon in Caracas, including a military
04:00parade made up by several leaders of the Bolivarian Armed Forces.
04:05Venezuelan Vice President Delsi RodrĂguez pointed out that this battle was the end of
04:09the power of the Spanish Empire in the lands of South America, thanks to the struggle of
04:15BolĂvar's army that always called for the union of the peoples.
04:19The Vice-Mandatory also emphasized the importance of the Battle of JunĂn being a point of inspiration
04:25in the independence, determination and sovereignty of Venezuela.
04:38We have come on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro.
04:42We are very excited for this bicentenary of the glories at JunĂn, which would mark already
04:46practically the end of the Southern Campaign to liberate South America from the Spanish
04:51colonialist power.
04:52For months later Ayacucho and we would definitively seal the independence of our great homeland.
04:58With those glories Venezuela has been growing as a nation.
05:09As a country inspired by independence, self-determination, sovereignty, and also had to endure the envy
05:15of our heroic glories for being great, supportive Venezuelan people.
05:19Their people crossed the border, our liberating army, to bring freedom to other countries
05:23with a very clear message of what it means the union of our peoples.
05:30This Tuesday the Bolivarian National Armed Forces ratified its full support to President
05:35Nicolás Maduro after his re-election last July 28th.
05:39Defense Minister Bladimir Padrino LĂłpez rejected the statement issued by MarĂa Corina Machado
05:43and former presidential candidate Mundo González, in which they exhorted the armed forces to
05:49violate constitutional laws.
05:51Meanwhile, Padrino LĂłpez stated that security forces are battling against a coup d'Ă©tat
05:56operated by social media and cyber attacks.
05:59For its part, the Strategic Region of Integral Defense supported the Venezuelan President
06:04and the decision of the Venezuelan people that democratically elected Nicolás Maduro
06:08as president of the South American country for the 2025-2031 term.
06:19We reaffirm our absolute loyalty to citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, constitutional president
06:25of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, commander-in-chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, who
06:31has been legitimately re-elected by the people for the next presidential term of 2025-2031.
06:38The defense minister condemned the destabilizing attempts of the so-called Comanditos led by
06:43MarĂa Corina Machado.
06:47But now they are trying to tarnish the electoral process by means of the well-known script
06:52of violence, this time resorting to the ill-named Comanditos, which are really fourth-generation
06:57criminal gangs with which they have established alliances, in order to control the political
07:02power that they were unable to achieve with the votes.
07:05It is important to clarify that their government plan is highly neo-colonialist.
07:09Likewise, Padrino LĂłpez warned that the far-right continues with its plan to create a deceptive
07:17argument of an alleged electoral victory in order to carry on manipulating a sector of
07:22the population.
07:24Meanwhile, this fascist current continues trying to position the thesis of an electoral
07:32victory that they wanted to build on the basis of fake polls and an orchestrated media campaign
07:38to create fictitious expectations in a single sector of the population that they intend
07:43to continue deceiving and manipulating.

08:02Welcome back.
08:03This Tuesday, Bolivia commemorates 199 years of independence from Spanish colonialism.
08:10The activities started in the morning hours from the 25th de Mayo Square in the capital.
08:15President Luis Arce and other authorities of his Executive Cabinet took part in the
08:20event during the day.
08:21The traditional ancestral ceremony and offering to Mother Earth were carried out by Amautas
08:26and Andean priests.
08:28Later, floral offerings were delivered to the monument of the Venezuelan and former
08:32president of Bolivia Antonio José de Sucre.
08:42Our hallmark has been for centuries to dream, resist, fight and win again and again, so
08:47we reached our 199 years of independence, a country and a people that proudly assumes
08:53its plurinational character and that despite all the difficulties is walking towards full
08:57economic independence and political sovereignty.
09:00On Monday, in Argentina, the congressional lawmaker Ayelen Esposito rejected a bill proposed
09:09by Javier Millet government that would lower the age of criminality.
09:13In this sense, the Argentine lawmaker declared unconstitutional the measure of the Millet
09:18government to lower from 16 to 13 years of age to accuse a minor of a crime, which allegedly
09:25seeks to fight the crime rate in the country.
09:28On the other hand, she pointed out that this is a regressive measure since it contradicts
09:32the international norms ratified by her nation in the defense of minors and teenagers.
09:38It must be emphasized that in Argentina the participation of minors under 16 years of
09:42age in serious criminal acts is negligible, representing only 1% of the total number
09:48of serious crimes.
09:56In this sense, the Argentine Chamber of Deputies debates on Tuesday the bill promoted by the
10:01government of Javier Millet that seeks to lower the age of criminal responsibility from
10:0516 to 13 and the creation of a youth criminal regime.
10:09According to local media, the second meeting will have the participation of criminal legislation,
10:14justice, budget, finance, family, children and youth to study this proposal which has
10:20divided all the political parties of the Congress.
10:29U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running
10:33mate looking to strengthen the democratic ticket in Midwestern states.
10:3860-year-old Tim Walz is a former teacher currently serving his second term as a governor
10:43of Minnesota and chairman of the Democratic Governors Association.
10:48The politician emerged as a surprise contender to join the vice president in the presidential
10:52race as two other democratic figures dominated the first part of the vice presidential election.
10:58Kamala Harris is expected to introduce Walz at a rally Tuesday evening in Philadelphia.
11:08In the United States, a large wildfire in the state of California burned at least a
11:33half a dozen homes and caused the evacuation of residents in the county of San Bernardino.
11:39In this regard, county fire spokesman Eric Sherwin reported that the fire started in
11:44dry brush in the community of Leader Mountain with an initial size of five acres but quickly
11:50grew to 54 acres.
11:52For his part, Sherwin also said that about 200 firefighters, 40 engines and three hand
11:58crews with the help of the city of Riverside and Cal Fire are battling the fire while dozens
12:05of families have been evacuated so far.
12:13In the United States, the passage of Tropical Storm Debbie caused the death of at least
12:17five people in southern states.
12:20In this regard, local media pointed out that Tropical Storm Debbie left four people dead
12:25in the state of Florida and one person dead in the state of Georgia while hundreds of
12:29people had to be rescued from their flooded homes.
12:32It is worth noting that the weather phenomenon made landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast on
12:37Monday as a Category 1 hurricane while on Tuesday weakened to a tropical storm and is
12:42slowly moving south of Savannah, Georgia with a high risk of unleashing torrential rains
12:47and causing widespread flooding.
12:54At least six people were arrested in the United Kingdom on Monday night during an E-Day of
12:59rioting by far-right groups in several cities across the British nation.
13:04In this sense, local media highlighted that 378 people have been arrested since July 30
13:10amid riots instigated by far-right groups opposed to the government's immigration policies.
13:17In this sense, human rights organizations and social activists denounce the extreme
13:21right-wing groups are spreading false information through social networks to link immigrants
13:26to criminal acts while they call on the government to modify current immigration policies.
13:31Meanwhile, in Plymouth, one of the lattest towns to be affected, Police Commissioner
13:36Ross Dowie assured that violence and hate will not be tolerated.
13:42I would like to reassure the community that we are fully resourced at this time with a
13:50strong police presence.
13:53Violence will not be tolerated, hate will not be tolerated, and we continue to work
13:58with our partners to keep the people of Plymouth safe.
14:02Our approach to this operation was to enable peaceful protests, but people who are intent
14:07on committing public order and criminal offence have and will be dealt with robustly.

14:47Welcome back to From the South.
14:56The leader of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, called on fronts
15:02of supporting the Gaza Strip to keep up to the fight against the Israeli occupation forces.
15:06During a ceremony honouring the murdered, martyred Commander Fuad Shakur in Beirut,
15:11the Hezbollah leader stressed that the offensive starts with fear despite its losses against
15:16Israel.
15:17Nasrallah urged the axis of resistance in the region to prevent Israel from gaining
15:21more space and call for more patience and determination in the face of the loss of Hezbollah
15:26leader Ismail Hanije, warned that Israel is opening horizons of tensions by attacking
15:32Lebanon, Iran and Yemen and in doing so is opening a stronger and more contundent response.
15:45Israel is under pressure in expectation of retaliation by the resistance, but that expectation
15:51is part of the battle and punishment.
15:53Our response will come, God willing, and the retaliation will be from the Lebanese fighting
15:58group or as part of a comprehensive response from the axis of resistance.
16:04Hassan Nasrallah said Israel remains under pressure over the response of the resistance
16:09in the region.
16:13Israel today is under pressure to respond and the current state of standby is part of
16:18the battle.
16:19Israeli factories in the north can be destroyed within an hour and the most important sound
16:23barrier is that as soon as the drones are sent, sirens sound in the enemy entity.
16:31Palestinian fighters faced an attempted incursion by the Zionist occupier's army into the eastern
16:36parts of the city of Kanjenis, south of the Gaza Strip.
16:39The Palestinian resistance detonated an anti-personnel device against an Israeli unit barricaded
16:44inside a building, causing some casualties.
16:46During the assault, the military wing of Hamas, the al-Qassam Brigades, faced a force of nine
16:52infantry soldiers and caused several dead and wounded, only a few tens of meters from
16:58the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, where they are also stationed.
17:03Also in Rafah, the resistance movement confirmed the fall of several regime troops.
17:12On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelhati met with his Lebanese counterpart
17:18Abdullah Bouhabib amid regional tensions.
17:20In this regard, representatives of both nations stressed that they are working to ensure that
17:25the current scenario in the Middle East does not lead to an all-out war.
17:30Tensions spiked last week when Iran and its allies vowed to answer for the Israeli assassinations
17:35of top Hezbollah military commander Fuad Choukoud and Hamas political leader Ismail Hanije.
17:41On the other hand, it should be noted that the Israeli occupation army has caused the
17:45death of at least 555 Lebanese as a result of cross-border violence since October.
17:52In this regard, the Lebanese Foreign Minister stressed that there is a possibility of war
17:57with Israel.
18:01Undoubtedly, there is a problem between us and Israel.
18:07There is a possibility of war between us and Israel.
18:11It is a possibility we can't deny.
18:13Hence, countries are free to advise their citizens to leave Lebanon.
18:19We discussed Egypt's continuous mediation efforts to reach a deal to release the hostages
18:24and prisoners and stop the war on Gaza.
18:26We are coordinating with Qatar, U.S. and our Arab and international partners to reach
18:31a truce, which will lead to a complete and immediate ceasefire.
