00:00The soundtrack for Deadpool and Wolverine is a real banger, am I right?"
00:03Fans expecting a bonkers opening scene in the summer blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine
00:07weren't disappointed. As the credits roll, Deadpool creatively slaughters agents of the TVA,
00:12but still finds time to dance it out a little bit. So, is that Ryan Reynolds doing all the dancing?
00:16No, it's definitely not. The guy busting a move to NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye is Nick Pauly,
00:21an actor and dancer who appeared in Ryan Murphy's Netflix adaptation of the Broadway musical The
00:25Prom, and in music videos for stars like Doja Cat, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj.
00:30On Instagram, Pauly shared that he got an urgent call back in February, posting,
00:34"'I got a call from my agent saying,
00:36I need you to learn the Bye Bye Bye dance right now and send me a video.
00:39I can't tell you what it's for, but it's huge.'"
00:42Reynolds said at a recent press conference that it's easy to tell when it's Pauly under the mask,
00:46joking,
00:46"'If it looks like the person who's dancing doesn't have arthritis,
00:49that's him. I will hang my hat on his talent there and thank him for his contribution and services.'"
00:53Clearly, Reynolds appreciated Pauly's extraordinary dance moves,
00:56which mimicked the original choreography from the Bye Bye Bye music video. In a post on Pauly's
01:00Instagram, he praised Reynolds and the project, saying that he was honored to play a Deadpool
01:04variant he dubbed Dancepool. Pauly was also finally able to reveal his contributions to
01:09the movie in an Instagram post on July 26th, the date of the movie's release,
01:13where he posted a photo of himself clad in a signature Deadpool suit. Pauly wrote,
01:17"'This secret has been so hard to keep. I went to the premiere on Monday and watching
01:20the footage back was pretty surreal. I hadn't remembered what I freestyled in
01:24between the choreography and it was hilarious to watch it back.'"
01:27Pauly then went on to thank Reynolds and director Sean Levy for bringing him on board.
01:30His efforts clearly paid off, because fans went absolutely wild over the opening.
01:35On X, one fan posted,
01:36"'Once I get the official version of Deadpool's Bye Bye Bye dance,
01:39the timeline is gonna be so sick of me. It's been on repeat non-stop. I don't
01:43understand how an opening scene for a film could be this good.'"
01:46Another fan wrote,
01:47"...the fact that it brought Bye Bye Bye back into the zeitgeist is a net positive for society."
01:52And another fan compared it to the Guardians of the Galaxy opening,
01:55with Chris Pratt's Peter Quill jamming out to Redbone's
01:57Come and Get Your Love, calling the scene,
01:59"...the best opening to an MCU film since Guardians."
02:02NSYNC seemed to be enjoying all the new exposure for the 24-year-old track. The boy band even
02:07changed the name of the song on Spotify so it now officially reads as
02:10Bye Bye Bye from the Deadpool and Wolverine soundtrack.
