00:00And then I was really scared of when I had to go.
00:02Can I say that to Cosmo?
00:04Hi, I'm Ashley Park,
00:05and today I'm doing the breakdown with Cosmopolitan.
00:08We're watching my old clips,
00:10and I'm letting you know what really went down that day.
00:13Do I like watching my own work?
00:15Probably not, not really, not necessarily, but I'll do it.
00:18I used to be super critical of my own work,
00:20but there's kind of a freedom of,
00:22hey, it's done, that's what I did.
00:24So now I'm less critical, but I'm actually,
00:26no, I'm still pretty critical.
00:30What's your favorite part of the scene?
00:33Well, hilariously, I'm wearing Louis Vuitton now.
00:36There it goes.
00:37That garment bag was actually made specifically
00:39for the scene,
00:40and it was like two inches too short accidentally.
00:42Every time they were like, zip it up fast,
00:44and I was like, please don't cut my nose.
00:45And I loved being in beef,
00:47and I remember reading the scene
00:48and not really understanding what it was gonna look like.
00:50And I think it's really perfect for this character, Naomi,
00:53and like how she feels.
00:55And it was my first time playing a role
00:56that wasn't necessarily a likable character
00:59and trying to find the humanity behind her.
01:01And yeah, oh, this is funny.
01:02Ali Wong, love her.
01:04In the final episode of Beef, Naomi has quite a journey.
01:07Jake and Sunny did such an amazing job
01:09editing that episode together.
01:10And I auditioned for that show
01:12with just the very first scene that I have with Ali Wong,
01:15where we're just like talking with coffee and stuff.
01:17So when we got to that, it was wild.
01:19There are guns and there's people dying
01:21and there's people sliced in half.
01:22And I had no idea I was gonna be a part of it.
01:24Naomi's not okay.
01:26To be with one half of your ex-lover
01:28and you press the button to kind of do that, not great.
01:31I don't think she's doing well.
01:33♪ Look for the light ♪
01:38Oh gosh, okay, only murders in the building.
01:40This is probably in like my top moments
01:43that I'll remember ever in performing.
01:45It's not often that you're cast in a TV show
01:47and they say, by the way,
01:48you're gonna be doing a duet with Meryl Streep.
01:51Whatever you think Meryl Streep is gonna be like,
01:52that's what it was.
01:53And also just that whole room of people,
01:55just the best group of actors,
01:57a lot of Broadway actors too.
01:59So it felt like coming home.
02:00The song was actually written by Sarah Bareilles,
02:02Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul.
02:04And they're all close friends of mine.
02:05Sarah, I know from Girls 5eva
02:07and Pasek and Paul Weigel way back.
02:09This was super special.
02:10I had just sprained my ankle and I was in crutches.
02:13And I'm like, you gotta make it onto this stage
02:15with Meryl Streep, you can do it.
02:17Oh, look at me.
02:18I'm not even acting,
02:19I'm just so happy to go on stage with her.
02:21Hey, hey, hey, it's us, Girls 5eva.
02:23Girls 5eva.
02:25Speaking of Sarah, Girls 5eva.
02:27Okay, I mean, it's everyone's dream
02:28to be in like a 90s girl band.
02:30And this was, ah!
02:32It's so cute.
02:35This was also like height of COVID too.
02:37So just to be in a safe place

02:42Busy Renee, Erica, who I did Mean Girls with,
02:45and Sarah, of course.
02:47We just got to kind of live our girl band dreams
02:49in doing that.
02:50Tina Fey and Jeff Richman, who I did Mean Girls with,
02:52asked me to do this.
02:53And it was just like the easiest yes.
02:55Actually, what's funny is that
02:56Tina and Jeff were like, we named her Ashley.
02:59We envisioned if you had a freak accident and passed away,
03:02it would be like falling off an infinity pool

03:27and be with those women.
03:32Oh, this is Joyride.
03:33This scene.
03:36What's so funny, I've never had to do like fake barf
03:38like this before.
03:39And honestly, they were like, what
03:40are your favorite flavors?
03:41I said cinnamon rolls.
03:42They used oatmeal.
03:43It made it taste like cinnamon rolls.
03:45This is how great Roddy is.
03:46We did one take.
03:47And I have a very small mouth, too.
03:49FYI, Cosmo.
03:51So I couldn't hold him for a whole roll for the scene.
03:54And then spit it on him.
03:56But the first time, I obviously didn't
03:57want to spit on his face.
03:58So I got all over his shirt.
03:59And they're like, that was great.
04:00And he was like, let's do it one more time.
04:01He was like, you can spit it in my face.
04:03That was such a fun time.
04:04The slaps are also fun.
04:09Sherry, Sabrina, and Stephanie, like, we
04:11had the best time filming them.
04:12I'm usually really bad at watching

06:02Yeah, well, there she is.
06:03She's crying.
06:04I felt so bad for my makeup artist that day.
