The Hobby: Close Up HD Footage (Falco subbuteo)

The Hobby is a cool little falcon that zips around our skies. It's about the size of a kestrel but looks more like a mini Peregrine falcon. These birds are super fast flyers and love to catch their food on the wing. They're really good at nabbing dragonflies and even swallows mid-air!
Hobbies spend their summers here in the UK, arriving in April or May. They like to hang out in open country with some trees around, like the edges of woods or heathland. When autumn comes, they head off to Africa for the winter.
These birds build their nests in old crow nests high up in trees. The female lays 2-3 eggs, and both parents look after the chicks. Hobbies are getting more common in the UK, which is great news.
If you want to spot one, look out for a small, dark falcon with pointy wings. They often hunt at dusk, so keep your eyes peeled!
