00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the bosses in video games
00:16who surprised us with how strong their second forms were.
00:26Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:31the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:35Saren, Mass Effect Let's be honest, practically everyone used
00:44their Paragon or Renegade options to negate the first phase of this fight, pushing the
00:48traitorous Turian into taking his own life.
00:51But on the off chance you didn't, it's a simple case of blasting from around cover
00:55as Saren hovers overhead, a tad tricky, but nowhere near impossible.
01:04However, when the Reaper takes over and revives his synthetic skeleton, things can get pretty
01:12gnarly.
01:13The arena is small, there's limited cover, and Saren will bounce from wall to wall while
01:17blasting out bolts of energy that can do major damage to Shepard.
01:21Hope you didn't choose to play as a vanguard.
01:27Fur, another crab's treasure.
01:38What happens when a narcissist with dreams of grandeur snatches godhood for themselves?
01:42They become an even bigger narcissist, but now they can control the ocean.
01:50As the crab who stole the world, Furth packs a mean swing, mainly due to how he can dodge
01:55a lot of melee attacks, teleport and summon a giant blade that will crack open your shell
02:00if you don't dodge in time.
02:01But it's when Furth becomes the avatar of waste that he really starts to become a pain.
02:06Between the giant sea mines and the waterspouts, trying to land a hit and stay in one piece
02:10becomes exponentially more difficult.
02:21A giant cocoon that likes to summon a whole lot of tentacles, nothing a ragtag of JRPG
02:31characters can't handle, especially after so much grinding to unlock the best jobs,
02:35abilities and weapons.
02:36At least, that's what we thought, until Vyde reveals his darkly divine true form.
02:45Despite having control of 8 characters, you still feel like an underdog, mainly due to
02:50how Vyde's giant limbs all have their own health bars, and can revive one another.
02:55It's a gauntlet to overcome, and a marathon to endure.
02:58Best of luck.
03:05The Demon Prince, Dark Souls 3.
03:15If you want to get to the Ringed City, you're going to have to walk through Hellfire, courtesy
03:19of the demon in pain, and the demon from below.
03:22Perfectly balanced yet still challenging, overcoming the demon twins shouldn't prove
03:26to be overwhelming for any Ashen ones who have levelled themselves up, to a modest degree.
03:31That is, until the two fuse themselves together and resurrect into their true guise of the
03:35Demon Prince.
03:46Now able to fly, the Prince will blanket the area in flames and projectiles.
03:51But if you venture too close, it's going to come in hot and slice you to pieces with
03:55a barrage of combos.
03:56We can see why Lorian struggled against it.
04:08Doctor Karl's Robot, Cuphead.
04:16This infernal iron giant proved to be the bane of our existence in what was already
04:20proving itself to be one of the most difficult boss rushes gaming has ever known.
04:25Between the homing missiles, lasers and danger of getting too close to its hulking body,
04:30the first phase alone was a piece of work.
04:32So what could be harder?
04:34How about pure bullet hell?
04:40When Doctor Karl reveals himself, he wastes no time in blanketing the screen with projectiles
04:45that'll have you sweating and swerving.
04:47You'll spend so long trying to navigate through, you'll forget to return fire.
04:56Eviterno, Blasphemous 2.
05:05The father of the penitents may be getting on in years, but don't let that fool you.
05:09The geezer knows how to make a sword sing.
05:11The first phase is actually rather reasonable, offering plenty of opportunity to punish him
05:16and even deflect a few of his attacks back his way.
05:18That all goes out the window when he decides to swap the sorcery for a melee build.
05:31His AoE attacks are absurd in their size, scope and speed.
05:34Just when you think you're out of harm's way, you'll likely find yourself sliced to
05:38pieces in another crazy combo.
05:48Ludwig, Bloodborne.
05:57You'll barely have a moment to process what you're even looking at before this accursed
06:01beast has trampled you into paste.
06:03Horrifying and mesmerising in equal measure, Ludwig's charged attacks demand that you be
06:07quick on your heels, and even quicker when it comes to landing hits.
06:11That is, until Ludwig rediscovers his guiding moonlight, and switches things up drastically.
06:24Now armed with the Moonlight Greatsword, his attacks now consist of massive swings that
06:28can reach near and far, whilst offering little margin for error.
06:32Not only does this phase provide a great arc for Ludwig's character, but one of Bloodborne's
06:36greatest hurdles to overcome.
06:46Theseus and Asterius, Hades.
06:55As a double battle, this mythological hero and his minotaur bro make for quite the test
07:00of skill, with one launching projectiles from afar, while the other brings the pain up close.
07:04Whichever one you choose to dispatch first, rest assured, the fight only gets harder from
07:09there.
07:20Asterius will become even more relentless with his swings, while Theseus will take a
07:24page out of Zag's playbook and start channelling the power of the gods.
07:28The only thing more intense than the fight itself is the rage you'll feel towards Theseus's
07:32smug face.
07:40Simon Manus, Lies of Pea.
07:53Insane alchemist turned monster with one hell of a tumour.
07:56Simon Manus's turn as a boss was almost disappointing when compared to some of his puppet lackeys.
08:01He just swings his weapon around and leaves plenty of room for openings.
08:05And then he revealed the fruits of his experiments.
08:21Turns out that tumour of his actually houses… um… god?
08:25Or at least a conduit for one, on account that as soon as it's born it literally reaches
08:29out to touch the actual hand of god?
08:32We think?
08:33It may be bonkers, but it sure as hell hits hard, barely giving you an inch before laying
08:37the smite down on poor Pinocchio.
08:48Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erg Tree.
09:00The awe and surprise of seeing this beloved boss return was almost as intense as the thrashing
09:05he gave us seconds later.
09:07As Elden Ring's most challenging boss, yes even more so than Melania, shaving off even
09:12an inch of his health felt like a triumph.
09:15Then his second phase began, wherein Micheala decides to enter the fray, declare his beloved
09:19brother as his new consort, and give him the power to unleash an absurd amount of holy
09:24damage.
09:29Rodan's new moveset was already punishing enough, but combined with Micheala's not
09:41so kind array of magic, he becomes an absolute monster.
10:01Which of these second phases made you rage quit?
10:04Let us know in the comments!
