00:00Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens gets plenty of attention during the NFL season,
00:05but it's Olympics time, which means it's his wife Simone Biles' time to shine.
00:09Is he okay with handing over the spotlight? We asked an expert to weigh in.
00:13Biles is undoubtedly a gymnastic superstar. She now has six Olympic gold medals,
00:17with the latest coming in the individual all-around competition. Over the years,
00:21Owens has taken some fleck over how he speaks about his highly decorated wife.
00:25In a 2023 interview, he said,
00:27I always say we demand a kiss, man."
00:30When asked how he managed to land Biles, Owens also said,
00:33How's she pull me, man? That's the question."
00:35Those answers left lots of fans upset, according to Page Six. Now, he's receiving hate again for
00:40posting a photo to Instagram wearing one of Biles' gold medals around his neck.
00:44So how does he really feel about his wife? Is there jealousy there?
00:47We asked body language and behavior expert Greg Hartley to dig into it.
00:51Specifically, we asked about Owens' recent Good Morning Football interview.
00:54He spoke on the show about taking some time off from Bears training camp to go
00:58see Biles compete in Paris. Hartley said that when Owens said things like,
01:02Baby, I can't wait to see you a couple more days and I'll be there,
01:05so congrats and, you know, keep going. Good luck, baby."
01:08There wasn't some hidden meaning behind it. Hartley said,
01:11When there is a second narrative going on, the body may try to tell a different story
01:14from the mouth. Hartley said he believes Owens' body language was aligned with what he was
01:18expressing. There was even a clear indicator that Owens' feelings changed when the conversation
01:23turned to talk of Biles competing at the Olympics. Hartley noticed, quote,
01:27"...amusement as he talks about going to see Simone."
01:29The interview also got into Owens' own career as a professional athlete,
01:32and Hartley observed that Owens' body language shows just how seriously he takes his career.
01:37The expert noted that Owens was smiling when talking about Biles,
01:40but became more straight-faced and serious when discussing football, saying,
01:44Watch every time he talks about football or practice. His face looks like all business."
01:48Hartley says he sees congruency between mouth and body language,
01:52and a guy who takes his job seriously. Ultimately, Hartley didn't spot anything
01:56worrisome about Owens or his feelings for his wife, despite his earlier comments. Hartley explained,
02:01Generally, he seems lighthearted about most things and serious about work.
02:04That doesn't imply anything negative to me."
02:07When asked about skipping a few days of training camp to fly to Paris,
02:10Owens' face did indeed light up. He noted that the Bears were extra understanding
02:14when giving him the time off, and added,
02:16I'll, um, you know, try to get acclimated to Paris and maybe sneak and see her and,
02:20you know, make sure her mind's right and everything."
02:23It was. With her 2024 gold medal wins, she officially became the oldest person to win
02:28a gold medal for Olympic gymnastics since 1964, even though she's only 27. Obviously,
02:33a win like this is cause for major celebration. And while the photo Owens posted after Biles'
02:38big win raised a few eyebrows, his caption seemed like that of a proud hubby. He wrote,
02:43Witnessing history every time you step on the mat. Congrats,
02:46baby, on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history.
02:50So thankful I was there to see it."
02:51So while Owens' behavior might not always have the best optics,
02:55it's clear that he's proud to support his record-breaking wife.
