It's been recommended that hundreds of thousands of participants and businesses within the National Disability Insurance Scheme be subject to a tiered registration process. The proposal aims to find the right balance between giving people choice in who supports them and protecting some of the scheme's most vulnerable.

01:15Those like Nick on self-directed plans can use services of their choice and register
01:20with the NDIS watchdog so their providers don't have to.
01:24It's an important safeguard to make sure the NDIS Commission knows who is providing
01:29the services to the people at most risk of violence and abuse.

01:44role in the scheme and who will deliver and fund key services.
