00:00We have now, after yesterday's meeting, put in place support for Chief Constables to both anticipate any further action
00:07and also to prepare for it through a range of intelligence-led policing issues.
00:11My first thoughts remain with the family and with the people of Southport,
00:15but it is clearly not acceptable for activity to take place on a criminal basis, as did this week,
00:21and we need to both prevent that for the future and also hold to account those who have undertaken it.
00:25I'm basically saying, as the Prime Minister was yesterday and the police are generally,
00:29that if you undertake any activity that leads to the type of criminal behaviour
00:33and conspiracy to riot that took place this week, you will face the full force of the law,
00:38and people need to know that, and the police will be looking at intelligence-led policing
00:42to determine whether individuals are engaged in this activity,
00:45and ultimately, if they are, they will be held to account through the courts and through the justice system.
