Transcript
00:00Local authorities will file a complaint against those who have proven to be responsible for the oil spill incident in Bataan.
00:10The target is to start the siphoning operations in the sinking of the MT Terra Nova ship as soon as possible.
00:19This is Patrick de Azuz for Sentro Balita Live.
00:23The Department of the Interior and Local Government, or DILG, has already filed a complaint against the local authorities who were affected by the oil spill in Bataan due to the sinking of the MT Terra Nova.
00:44According to DILG Secretary Benjur Avalos, it is the right of the LGUs, especially those affected by the impact of their residents in their area due to the possible pollution.
01:00This is a great, not only a health hazard for everyone, it's an ecological damage.
01:05You're talking of 1.1 million of oils.
01:08This happened in Mindoro a few years ago before our countrymen were able to recover. This is very serious.
01:18The target is to start the siphoning operations in the MT Terra Nova after the metal capping is applied.
01:25This will be done as soon as possible, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
01:31This equipment is very important so that we can safely conduct the siphoning.
01:41That is the gist we want to attain here, that we can safely and securely start the siphoning of these oils.
01:52As to the date, when will the siphoning start, it will start immediately after the metal cappings are applied.
02:05Meanwhile, Aljo, according to DNARA, several parts of Manila Bay exceeded the standard of 2 mg per liter of oil.
02:14But it is still unknown if this is due to the sinking of the MT Terra Nova.
02:23The Philippine Coast Guard and the DOST are working on what we call fingerprinting
02:28so that we can say if the actual source of the oil contamination in these particular areas that have exceedance
02:38came from the Terra Nova.
02:40So that's ongoing, that process of determining. That is called fingerprinting.
02:48Aljo, the DSWD gave 31,000 food packs to Bataan and Cavite Provinces affected by the oil spill from Bataan.
03:01Aljo.
03:03Thank you very much, Patrick Diasus.
