00:00Hi, I'm Mark Barracud, I'm Deputy Secretary of Early Childhood Outcomes with the NSW Department
00:07of Education and I'm here in Armidale today to meet with workers from the early childhood
00:16education and care sector to hear about the important work that they do in supporting
00:21children and their families in this area.
00:26Jane, what are some of the challenges facing early childhood development and learning?
00:32It's been great being here today to be able to express our concerns within the early childhood
00:39profession. It's great to be able to talk to the stakeholders and be able to share some
00:47of the concerns regarding our transition to school programs, pay and equity, being able
00:55to discuss about assessment and rating, being able to have a voice face to face is so important.
01:03And Cam, you're hosting, your school venue is hosting this event?
01:08We are, we've really enjoyed having the early childhood educators in today. It's been a
01:12great opportunity for us to build our connections with the early childhood educators in Armidale
01:18and I'm really looking forward to that conversation continuing around how we can build a really
01:24robust transition program across all of our schools. It'll look different in every school
01:29but today's been a great opportunity to start deepening those connections.
