00:00We've started off today talking a lot of Padres Dodgers Dodgers made a trade yesterday.
00:08They got a new starting pitcher Padres made trades.
00:11They brought in help for the bullpen.
00:13Padres have given up pretty much everything in their farm system.
00:16And I know people are saying to me, you know, hey, AJ Preller knows a whole lot more about
00:21baseball than we do.
00:22Yeah, I would expect so.
00:23He's a general manager and a president of baseball operations for a major league ball
00:27club for the last 10 years.
00:28I'm going to give him credit that he knows more about baseball and knows more about
00:32his team and more about his prospects and more about what he's trying to build than
00:36we do.
00:37And I have absolutely zero I mean, zero issue with AJ Preller and the Padres going for it
00:43now.
00:44When they went out and got one Soto two years ago, that was an indication that they were
00:48serious and they were ready to play ball.
00:50The next year when they went out and got Zander Bogarts, and they spent all that money.
00:54They were they gave Joe Musgrove money.
00:55They gave you Darvish money.
00:57They went out and made this trade before the start of the season with Dylan Cease.
01:00They're serious about trying to win.
01:02I'm all in and I don't care about number two prospect through number 13 prospect.
01:07Don't mean nothing to me.
01:08I listen.
01:09I'd much rather be all in than whatever the Giants are doing.
01:13You know, I'd rather I'd much rather be all in than whatever the Marlins are doing is
01:16I know they're very, very different situations.
01:18But this is a much more exciting thing to follow for the next two months as opposed
01:22to to that.
01:23So yeah, let's go AJ.
01:25You know, I listen, there's no secret here to the local audience.
01:28I I think the guys should go.
01:31But if they keep making the playoffs, I have no problem being proven wrong.
01:34No problem.
01:35What happened at the deadline and I was this is what I was prefacing at the end of the
01:39last segment.
01:40The San Diego Padres starting pitching got a larger uplift than people could imagine
01:47by what they did to the back end of the bullpen.
01:51If as a starter, they're just asking you get to the sixth inning and what they're pitching
01:57has been doing lately.
01:59If you get Joe Musgrove back healthy, if you get you Darvish back healthy and now rested
02:04because he hasn't been gone due to injury.
02:06So he should be rested.
02:08So he should be fresh.
02:09You get those guys back and you're saying get us to the sixth any Michael King Dylan
02:14seats in addition to that and a seventh eighth and ninth.
02:19Yeah, these guys we now have are very difficult to hit.
02:22Yeah.
02:23And then the Dodgers are saying the exact same thing.
02:25If we get Mookie Betts back healthy, if we get Max Muncy back healthy, if Freddie Freeman
02:31comes back from whatever list he's on right now and he comes back and he starts in the
02:34way he's supposed to it.
02:35Great.
02:36If they start doing that and Ohtani is doing his thing, you know what they're saying?
02:40We're going to run away with this division.
02:42We're going to do so many runs.
02:43Yeah, you're under so many runs.
02:46But here's the difference in how I viewed the season and how other people have viewed
02:51the season.
02:52I've only focused on what they're the Padres are doing because if they don't do what they
02:57need to do, it's irrelevant what someone else does.
03:01My only focus has been on what they're doing, how the Padres are working forward, how the
03:06Padres are doing chemistry wise.
03:08I'm a very micro guy.
03:09You are.
03:10You are.
03:11Yeah, I know.
03:12I'm looking back.
03:13I'm looking at the Diamondbacks.
03:14Yeah, I'm a hyper local.
03:15They're a half game behind the Padres right now, dude.
03:18You're so hyper local, man.
03:19I mean, like to me, I'm looking at the Dodgers and of course, you know, I play L.A. cap a
03:24few days a week, but I'm like, hey, look, I want to see what the Dodgers are doing.
03:27I want to keep my eye on the Dodgers.
03:29I want to know what they've got.
03:30I want to know what's cooking in their clubhouse.
03:32I want to know their storyline.
03:33I'm usually like when it comes to basketball, I watch the Lakers and whoever the Lakers
03:39are playing and I don't care less about the rest of the league.
03:42What Brown are saying about the Padres, the Diamondbacks are experiencing it right now.
03:47They got getting they got or are getting all their guys back healthy and now they don't
03:53stop winning.
03:54Then the only reason they're half game back maybe is because they played one game less
03:57than the Padres.
03:58They're right there.
03:59So just I agree, Brown, if you're a Padre fan, if you're covering the Padres, that's
04:03what you care about is the Padres handle their business, get in the playoffs and see what
04:07happens.
04:08That's every baseball team.
04:10That's the Dodgers.
04:11But what I'm saying is I think I'm kind of leaning towards Scott now.
04:15If it takes bets a lot longer, if Muncie doesn't come back, if Yamamoto doesn't come back,
04:22maybe it's not just a wildcard thing here.
