Washington football coach Jedd Fisch speaks at Big Ten media days about his thoughts on the quarterback competition heading into fall camp.
Transcript
00:00And for him, I got to imagine what it would seem to someone.
00:03Nope, I have not done that.
00:05I've not penciled out a plan.
00:07I don't necessarily think like that right now in terms of packages for guys.
00:14You know, Noah redshirted, he played four games in 2022.
00:20And then Jaden started in 2023, and we were three and one.
00:24And Jaden sprained his ankle and Noah went in.
00:27And we didn't pencil that out, and that just happened.
00:31And we went seven and two.
00:34After that, I would say it's very similar,
00:37that we're gonna let Will and Demond fight it out.
00:43The starting quarterback will be the starting quarterback.
00:46And then I don't expect the next quarterback to go in unless there was
00:51an injury or the score was dictating that right now.
00:57With Will, what's the thing you've learned about him?
00:59Which did you know when you first met him, you just kind of got to know him?
01:02Really smart guy that just loves the game of football,
01:05that you can't really figure that out in a day.
01:09You don't know how much somebody loves the game, how committed they are,
01:13how willing he is to, coach, can we meet?
01:16Coach, can I ask you a question?
01:17Coach, I keep reminding him, Will,
01:20you're gonna get tired of me in training camp, don't force it now.
01:24So his love of the game and his love and
01:28passion to do this is something pretty special, and that's fun to see.
01:34What's your assessment of the offensive line transfer hall that you got?
01:36I was matched Mr. Cree, D'Angelo, T.T. Lee, and Nick Mahi.
01:41Yeah, I think we were able to fill some holes that we needed to fill.
01:47Excited to get guardman Millar and Landon Hatchet back.
01:51So you've got two guys that were expected to be starters,
01:55that weren't able to participate in spring that are back.
01:58D'Angelo has 48 starts at Portland State.
02:01I really like the way he's really handling himself.
02:06I think Max and Swanee will have great competition at left tackle.
02:11Drew obviously transferred in before I got there, but
02:14I'm excited about watching him play.
02:17Zach Henning, Paki Finau are both guys that are very young players that
02:21are gonna impact the program.
02:23Enoch started at Ohio State in the bowl game and now we've got him on our team.
02:30So we've had about 15 scholarship players right now in the offensive line.
02:36In spring we had seven and two injured.
02:38So we're in a much better position, a much different position.
02:42And I'm pretty fired up about what training camp's gonna look like and
02:45see how these guys can all match.
02:47Exactly.
