00:00I'm here on behalf of all the other eight governors.
00:03We are here with the governor of Yomarakwe, the west heritage,
00:08but also representing all the other governors of the region,
00:12including the governors within the Rift Valley region as a whole.
00:16Eldoret Town, now turning into a city,
00:20is a strategic city for all of us.
00:25This is the home, and this is the heart of the region.
00:29We also know that the event coming up on 8th of August is not an end in itself.
00:36The city status will be officially unveiled.
00:39And starting from that point, we then need to escalate all the stakeholders.
00:45And I want to really thank West Ngeshu County leadership led by the governor,
00:50for bringing on board all the stakeholders.
00:53Because the role of ensuring that Eldoret City achieves or
00:58attains or lives to its new status will not be played by government alone.
01:04It will be a role that will be played by all stakeholders,
01:08corporate companies, all the stakeholders within the region.
01:12And all of us, including the counties surrounding Eldoret City,
01:19will have to play our role.
01:20So we are elated and excited.
01:22We thank the first governor, West Ngeshu, for starting initiating the process.
01:29We appreciate and really thank the second governor, West Ngeshu, for
01:32concluding and completing that journey.
01:35We also want to thank the National Parliament, both the Senate,
01:39the National Assembly, the President of the Republic of Kenya, for
01:42actually conferring this city status.
