00:25the Department of Science and Technology continues to bring Philippine campaigns to other places in the country,
00:32where various innovations in disaster risk reduction and management are found,
00:37and for this year's Visayas Leg, it is in Cebu City.
00:41Because our local government units, especially the barangay and even the municipalities and the barangays
00:48are the frontliners in terms of disaster preparedness, mitigation, and disaster response.
00:54And with these technologies that would be brought to the communities, we can reduce the disaster hazards.
01:04However, this does not end here, because they plan to hold forums and memorandums of understanding
01:11to the local governments, especially when it comes to technology adaptation.
01:15The so-called exposition is also a good opportunity to highlight the innovators
01:20who can show their inventions that can greatly reduce the effects of calamities.
01:25One of them is from the Forest Products Research and Development Institute of the DOST,
01:30which is called Siliang Pinoy.
01:32But what is this?
01:33We transformed ordinary school furniture into a useful furniture in the event of natural calamities or disaster.
01:43Since our classrooms in the Philippines become secondary temporary shelters for our evacuees,
01:51Siliang Pinoy, when you build it, it becomes a bed frame.
01:57So that bed frame can be used as a bed for our evacuees in the schools.
02:03And from here, evacuees can lie down on it,
02:06where bamboo is included in its material, which is a sustainable source of wood,
02:11because it grows fast and there are many of it in the Philippines.
02:14In addition to this, they also asked the Department of Education to continue using it in the classrooms in the country.
02:20Meanwhile, a company created the so-called Mobile Command and Control Vehicle or MOCOV,
02:26which can respond to its effect in the event of a calamity.
02:30It has three major features, which is the command, the control, and the medical and triaging area.
02:38All of this is a trailer tent system that you can pack in all and you can take anywhere in the Philippines
02:47in our very challenging terrain.
02:49Because it is just a small trailer with a pickup truck,
02:53you can carry it in the flood, carry it to mountainous regions.
02:58One of the important parts of the MOCOV is that even if the line of communication is down
03:03and there is no electricity in the area, it can still operate.
03:07In addition to this, aside from the command and control center,
03:10the MOCOV also has its own equipment, such as this Personal Protective Equipment or PPE
03:16that can be used for high angle and water rescue.
03:20Meanwhile, it also has the ability to provide initial medical attention because it has a trauma bag.
