‘Habagat’ to bring rain showers to some areas in Luzon; localized thunderstorms expected elsewhere

00:00In our latest satellite images, we can see the southwest monsoon, Habagat,

00:04which continues to affect the northern part of Luzon.

00:08As you can see, the sky is still a bit cloudy,

00:10particularly in the Ilocos region and some parts of Central Luzon,

00:15the area of Bataan and Zambales.

00:17It is expected that there will be a big chance of rain on this day.

00:20Meanwhile, we will continue to monitor the low-pressure area

00:24of our final destination, 220 kilometers northeast of Apari, in the province of Cagayan.

00:32As of now, based on our latest data,

00:34it is a bit difficult for this low-pressure area to become a typhoon

00:38because it is in an environment that is not conducive

00:41to develop into a tropical depression.

00:44But we will continue to monitor this low-pressure area

00:48for the next few hours.

00:50Meanwhile, in other parts of our country,

00:53in the eastern side of Luzon, in Cabizayan, and in Mindanao,

00:56we will experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

01:00So, to our countrymen, especially to parents, teachers, and students

01:05who are going to school today,

01:07we still expect rain in the afternoon until nightfall.

01:10While in the afternoon, there is a chance of hot weather,

01:13especially in some parts of Cabizayan and Mindanao.

01:16As of now, aside from the low-pressure area that we are monitoring,

01:19we do not see any other low-pressure areas or typhoons

01:22inside and outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

01:25Meanwhile, for the next few days,

01:27we expect the southwest monsoon to subside,

01:29so only possible thunderstorms will be experienced

01:33for the next few days,

01:34and that will be in the afternoon until nightfall.

01:36And this is what we expect for the time being in this part of Luzon.

01:40We expect the area of the western section of Luzon

01:45to still experience a greater chance of rain.

01:49This is the tip of the southwest monsoon,

01:52particularly the area of Ilocos Region, Bataan, Zambales,

01:55and possibly the area of Cordillera,

01:58particularly in Abra and in the part of Benguet,

02:01in Baguio as well.

02:02In the northern part of Luzon,

02:04we expect isolated or dry rain,

02:07lightning and thunderstorms,

02:08while there is a high chance of hot weather in the afternoon,

02:11especially here in the eastern part of Luzon.

02:14The temperature inside is 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:17In Tugagaraw, it will reach 33 degrees Celsius.

02:20In Baguio, 70 to 22 degrees Celsius.

02:22In Metro Manila, 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:25In Tagaytay, 24 to 31 degrees Celsius.

02:28While in Legazpi, 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:32Here we are in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.

02:35Here in the area of Palawan,

02:37we also expect isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

02:40The temperature in Calayaan Islands is 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

02:44In Puerto Princesa, 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

02:48A large part of Visayas will experience generally fair weather,

02:52but there is still a chance of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

02:56The temperature in Iloilo is 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

03:00In Cebu, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

03:03While in Tacloban, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

03:07During rainy season,

03:09we will also experience a lot in the part of Mindanao.

03:12These are localized thunderstorms.

03:14We can see that in Visayas and Mindanao,

03:17Southwest monsoons are not affected,

03:19mostly in the Luzon area only.

03:22The temperature in Zamboanga is 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.

03:26In Gendeoro, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

03:28While in Dabao, 33 degrees Celsius.

03:32At the moment,

03:33we still do not have high gale warnings in any part of our country.

03:38However, we are still aware of the possibility of strong gales

03:44and thunderstorms.

03:45But generally,

03:46we are safe from the spread of sea vehicles and small boats

03:49in our neighboring countries.
