Georgia Democrats 'all in' with Kamala Harris _ FOX 5 News
Transcript
00:00Georgia Democrats held their first Harris for president event in downtown Atlanta today. State
00:05and local leaders voiced their support for Vice President Kamala Harris and promised to help her
00:11win the state of Georgia this election. Fox 5's Deidre Dukes is live at the state capitol with
00:16details on today's event. Deidre. Well Christine, President Biden won Georgia by a razor thin
00:22margin in 2020. So heading into this election, state Democrats and Republicans knew that they
00:28were in for a tough fight in this battleground state. But Democrats we talked to say they feel
00:33re-energized now that it looks like Vice President Harris will be at the top of the ticket.
00:43Georgia Democrats re-energized with VP Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket,
00:48rallying in support of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
00:51We are here to make it clear that Georgia is all in on Vice President Kamala Harris.
00:58Democratic state lawmakers joined county and city leaders at Liberty Plaza Wednesday
01:03for Georgia's first official Harris for president event. On Monday, the Georgia
01:08Democratic Party announced that its 2024 convention delegation had unanimously endorsed by
01:17President Harris. Georgia made history when President Biden won the swing state in 2020.
01:24State Democrats vow they'll keep Georgia blue by electing Harris president in 24.
01:30We've got Vice President Harris's back and we're ready to make history again.
01:34It reinvigorated voters all across the Democratic base and we're so excited.
01:39We're cautiously optimistic about our chances here in Georgia. Georgia's definitely a battleground
01:43state and we've got a lot of work to do. Former President Trump was leading President Biden in
01:48polling of likely Georgia voters before he dropped out of the race. A recent AJC poll
01:53conducted just hours after President Biden withdrew showed Trump with a five percent lead
01:57over Vice President Harris in the peach state. Georgia RNC Chairman Josh McCoon said their
02:03ground game remains the same. Our job is a fairly simple one. It is to get Republicans,
02:10base Republicans out to vote early so that we can focus on those low propensity and persuadable
02:15voters in the closing days and weeks of the campaign. I think if we're able to execute
02:19on that strategy I think President Trump will win Georgia. Now with Georgia in play once again
02:26we are told by leaders of both parties that we can expect to see both candidates in Georgia
02:31spending a lot of time here as well as heavy campaigning from both sides. In downtown Atlanta,
02:37Deidre Dukes, Fox 5 News. All right Deidre, we'll continue to watch everything. Thanks so much.
