Jevon Holland still hasn't been offered a contract but says he's willing to listen. Should Tua be more like Jevon when it comes down to contract talks.
Transcript
00:00Javon Holland, a.k.a. the snowman.
00:05He's also in the last year of a deal, and it's a second-round pick, no fifth-year option
00:09for him, you know?
00:11So this is what he had to say.
00:14Now he said before he understands he's on the back burner, his two-and-oh got a deal,
00:18he knows he ain't getting a deal.
00:21But here was Javon Holland asked about his contract situation yesterday.
00:26I mean, it's not like I'm dictating time on my contract, because if I was dictating
00:30the time, I would have got paid my rookie year contract.
00:32But, no, man, you know, when it comes, it comes.
00:37I can't control none of that, so, yeah, man, whenever they want to, I'll pick up the phone.
00:44But I'm out here every day just, you know, trying to get better.
00:48There you go.
00:49Gotta love that guy.
00:50I do, too.
00:51You know what, and cool for him, he has the right attitude.
00:58But him and Tua are kind of the same in that they are going to put him on the back burner
01:04because they're not making a ruckus.
01:07And that's the part that gets to me.
01:09You don't want a guy to cause problems, but if he doesn't cause problems, you ignore him.
01:17And that's where we are, right?
01:21And maybe that's not the case.
01:22Maybe they're really trying to get something done, and maybe they want to get something
01:24done, but guess what?
01:28That's what happened to Christian Wilkins, right?
01:31So all I have is when teams go out of their way to re-sign the guys that they have, that
01:40they drafted, and they just let a guy go and put themselves in a situation where it can
01:47happen again.
01:48Like, I start feeling a little, like, what are we doing?
01:52Menu 631 says, and Tua can't do that?
01:56He wants him to do a, to pull a Javon, can't do a Javon Holland.
02:01I think there are different situations.
02:03There are different situations.
02:05As much as I get on Tua, I do feel like the way the teammates are rallying around him,
02:11they're kind of setting the precedent of, like, he's the leader for sure.
02:16Pay him, take care of him, and then everyone else, you know, it will be a domino effect
02:22from there.
02:23But, well, I think there are different situations.
02:25If the Tua talks go awry, like, they probably will go pay Javon Holland.
02:29Like, they probably will say, like, if it goes really bad and they're going to have
02:32all this money to spend on people, like, he's going to get paid.
02:37It's just one of those things where I think they, because I don't know what a safety franchise
02:43tag is, but I imagine it's a, I imagine it's nowhere near the realm of a DT or a, or a
02:49quarterback.
02:50So, you know, like that's one of those where I think they feel like they have a safety
02:53net with Javon Holland.
02:54If that, if they got to that, you know, next year.
02:57But I mean, look, the praise has been born in from, I mean, ESPN executives, they ranked
03:01him the fifth best safety in the league.
03:03I know that he had that.
03:04I've never heard of what happened last year where he stole, he sprained two MCLs.
03:09That was great.
03:10They think the band that damn that life field who sprained MCLs, what kind of barbarian stuff
03:17is that?
03:18Fix your field, New York or New Jersey.
03:20Yeah.
03:21They don't even play in New York.
03:25So stupid.
03:26Yeah.
03:27I was talking to, who was it talking?
03:30What's the guy's name?
03:31Dan Lanning.
03:32Now he didn't coach Javon Holland.
03:34They were, they, they miss cause Javon was a, was a crystal ball guy sat out his last
03:38year cause of COVID.
03:40But he did spend some time with him this summer.
03:42Cause he went up there to, uh, to graduate and, you know, daylight and being a defensive
03:46guru that he is, and he couldn't rate, I mean, he was raving about him.
03:51He's like, Oh, I'm like, I've mentioned Javon Holland.
03:53You would've thought I had mentioned his best son.
03:56Oh, he's like, I'm like, anyone to take a cold shower, dude, calm down.
04:01It's good.
04:02I loved it.
04:03I loved it.
04:05I loved Javon Holland too though.
04:07I mean, anyone who speaks about him, not only is he like good physically, mentally, he's
04:13smart.
04:14I mean, you need guys like that on your team.
04:18Right.
04:19But like, uh, man, like the company guy, like, um, the more and more like, cause he could
04:28be, well, listen, he's, it's funny because we've seen him publicly on social media.
04:35Voices opinion about stuff.
04:36I mean, he was very, uh, public about how much he hated Vic Fancio's guts, I think told
04:42him that I mean, kick rocks down the street.
04:45So it's not like he's one guy of sharing his opinion, but, but you also have to be honest
04:50with your situation also.
04:51Yeah.
04:52Right.
04:53And know where the team is.
04:54And I think that's a good place to be in where you can say, Hey, I know what's going on here.
05:00Right.
05:01That's, you know, situation number one, but don't forget about your boy, right?
05:08Hog wild fishing, which is a great name.
05:11Met life field might as well be playing asphalt in a parking lot.
05:14That's just painted green.
05:15Wasn't that what like veteran stadium was?
05:17Yes.
05:18Yes.
05:19I put it this way.
05:21I have never played a game at Ovet stadium and somebody didn't leave there either the
05:29Eagle or the team I played on with a torn something.
05:33Oh, well, it was brutal.
05:37I saw we played, we played the Eagles one time and I ran up through the middle of the
05:41field and the safety came up and I kind of dumb trucked him and he tore both his, uh,
05:47ACLs.
05:48Ooh.
05:49Yeah.
05:50I'm like, Oh my goodness.
05:54I survived.
05:55That's what we like.
05:56Just kind of like, did you like peer over your head and you'd be like, just left or
06:00did you check on him?
06:01No, like I didn't know what was wrong with him.
06:04I went right up.
06:05I went right up through him.
06:08I tell you what, whenever I've run over somebody, I never push off off, off of them.
06:12You know what I mean?
06:13That's just classless.
06:14So when people did that to me and did the walk over, you know, to walk over and put
06:20the junk all in, dude, like there's only a few situations where I just get hot.
06:26That's one of them or getting hit out of bounds.
06:30If you hit me out of bounds, we fight.
