00:00Let's head to Clovis Casali, who's outside in the center of Paris for us.
00:04Clovis, you're at the Hôtel de Ville, that is the main council in Paris.
00:10What's happening over there?
00:13Well, we're basically at the last possible point before the security barriers,
00:19and here I can tell you that spectators, those who were lucky enough to get a ticket,
00:26well respected the recommendations of organizers and arrived early in order to go through security.
00:32So now the people you see going in are kind of the last people to go in before the ceremony starts.
00:39We spoke to people here who waited patiently, because I can tell you the queues were very long,
00:45but they were extremely excited about managing to clinch a ticket for this opening ceremony
00:52that will be historic, the first, of course, outside a stadium in modern times.
00:57Let's take a listen to some of these supporters, some of these fans we met and who came from all over the world.
01:06I'm really excited to see all the athletes.
01:08I'm really hoping to see unity amongst everyone,
01:11because I know the state of the world is a little rough in some aspects,
01:14so I'm just hoping to see everyone just excited and thrilled to be here and to work together.
01:20Tickets were a bit expensive, but I think it will be worth it.
01:23My wife is a big Céline Dion fan, so I hope she's going to sing.
01:26We're from Brazil, Sao Paulo.
01:28This is amazing, the first time in Sena River.
01:33So, Clovis, that's for the tourists over there, and the French people that you've managed to speak to?
01:40Yes, I can tell you it's quite a sight to see the Bergeville,
01:44which is a big department store just in front of me.
01:46You've got many people at the balconies on the terrace sipping a glass,
01:52trying to get to see something from the ceremony,
01:57and behind also you've got the Ile de la Cité, where you've got Notre Dame,
02:00and French people, those who are lucky enough to live there,
02:03who are at the balconies with French flags all day with Mohamed Farhad and Sylvain Rousseau.
02:09We've been going through the streets of Paris talking to people,
02:12notably on the journey of the Olympic flame,
02:17and we spoke to Parisians who were there with their family along the Canal Saint-Martin,
02:22for instance, taking pictures, saying,
02:24finally, the games are here.
02:27Of course, some Parisians didn't want these games,
02:29say it's too much money spent by the government,
02:31there's no point.
02:32So many Parisians, or some Parisians have left,
02:35I can tell you those who are here and the foreigners are delighted.
02:39And just to finish, I was lucky enough to be in Tokyo for the last Olympics,
02:43and remember, different times, Covid, no spectators,
02:48it was a very unusual atmosphere,
02:50and here, Paris, fans, people here,
02:53lucky enough to attend sporting events,
02:55attend this opening ceremony,
02:57as these people are about to go in,
03:00and I can tell you, all smiles and joy,
03:03and despite this light rain,
03:05they think they will be witnessing an amazing show with Céline Dion, maybe,
03:09Lady Gaga, maybe.
