'Blatantly False': Dan Goldman Tears Into GOP's Resolution Condemning Kamala Harris

00:00I rise today to address the Republicans' desperate attempt to, yet again, use the official business

00:13of the House of Representatives to do the partisan political bidding of Donald Trump.

00:19My colleagues on the other side of the aisle have spent most of this Congress wasting our

00:23time and taxpayer money on a bogus sham impeachment investigation of President Biden that yielded

00:30no evidence of wrongdoing, much less any high crime or misdemeanor.

00:35It was obvious that that phony effort was solely designed to provide election fodder

00:41for Trump in advance of November's election.

00:44And recently, the chairman of the committee overseeing that investigation even admitted

00:49as much.

00:50And now that President Biden has selflessly and patriotically passed the torch to Vice

00:55President Kamala Harris, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are scrambling

01:00to help Donald Trump's electoral chances by using our time here today on a blatantly false

01:07resolution about Vice President Harris.

01:10The title of this resolution is, quote, strongly condemning the Biden administration and its

01:16border czar Kamala Harris's failure to secure the United States border.

01:22There's one problem.

01:24There's no such thing as a border czar, nor was Vice President Harris ever named the border czar.

01:31The entire premise of this resolution is simply false.

01:36Not surprisingly, the resolution makes no mention of the border security bill that the

01:41Biden-Harris administration negotiated with Senate Republicans that would have comprehensively

01:48addressed the problems at the border.

01:51Nor does it say anything about Donald Trump's decision to sabotage and kill that bipartisan

01:57bill because it would have solved the problems that this resolution complains about.

02:03Now why did he do that?

02:04Precisely because he wanted his minions in the House to introduce useless and deceptive

02:11resolutions like this one to help his campaign.

02:15And while Republicans continue to play politics with the border, the Biden-Harris administration

02:20did not stop trying to solve the problems facing the administration.

02:25They used what limited authority they have to control the border, and it's working.

02:31The resolution cites statistics from May of 2024 that there were 170,723 encounters at

02:38the border, but the resolution does not include numbers from the next month, June of 2024,

02:45which cut encounters by more than half to 83,536.

02:51And while my Republican colleagues continue to put politics over solutions, this administration

02:57and House Democrats will continue to put people over politics to address the issues facing

03:03the American people.

03:05I urge my colleagues to reject this false, inaccurate, and deceptive resolution.
