00:00In compliance with a recent ICJ ruling, Australia has sanctioned illegal Israeli settlers for
00:06violence against Palestinians, deeming their actions as an obstacle to peace in the territory.
00:11Following the July 19th ruling by the International Court of Justice that declared as illegal

00:25The measures target seven individual settlers and the hotline group Hilltop Youth, known
00:32for setting up new illegal outposts in the West Bank.

01:18The Australian government's move follows similar actions by its allies, the United
01:24Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Japan.
01:26The United States had sanctioned five settlers and two unauthorised outposts in the West
01:31Bank and added new sanctions on several entities and affiliated groups, including far-right
01:37nationalist Le Havre, an umbrella group for settlers.
01:41In February, the United Kingdom imposed strict financial and travel restrictions on four
01:46Israeli nationals and in June, Canada joined in the measures by sanctioning seven Israeli
01:51individuals and five entities for extremist violence in the West Bank.
01:56Japan also imposed asset-free sanctions on four individual Israeli settlers for violence
02:02in the occupied territory.
