Taylor Swift lends personal items to UK's V&A for museum 'journey'
Outfits, musical instruments and other objects on loan from musician Taylor Swift are going on display at London's Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in a first of a kind exhibition.
Titled "Taylor Swift | Songbook Trail" the temporary exhibition is made up of 13 installations dotted across the museum's many galleries.
Bailey and her team were given access to Swift's personal archives to pick items for the theatrically staged installations, which are placed in carefully chosen galleries that connect to moments in the 14-time Grammy winner's career.
"Taylor Swift | Songbook Trail" is displayed throughout the V&A South Kensington from June 27 to September 8. According to the museum the trail takes 60-90 minutes to complete

00:30I hope you enjoyed this short video!
00:32Please leave a like and subscribe to the channel.
00:34I'll see you in the next video!
00:36Bye!
01:00It's a journey around the museum that takes in 13 stops.
01:23So it follows chapters in Taylor Swift's career.
01:26And we highlight the eras and we showcase objects and the eras.
01:31And looks worn by Taylor across the different spaces in the museum.
01:56We were really exploring how to celebrate the eras tour in the UK this summer.
02:24And actually Taylor Swift's creativity and her artistry and the way that she moves through different aesthetics and different vibes and different eras really resonated with the whole of the museum.
02:37And so I spent some time with fellow curators walking around our galleries and choosing areas that would kind of connect to these wonderful moments in Taylor's career.
02:50And the V&A, as you know, is a museum of art, design and performance.
02:54And so from Taylor's lyrics, which tell us about so many different stories and art and literature and history, we've kind of taken a journey into all different galleries.
03:20So these objects are from the Taylor Swift archive.
03:34So it's been wonderful to borrow those and to see how they could work on display in the museum.
03:40So it's a first and it's the first time we've done a trail in this way.
03:44And it's the first time these objects have been seen in the UK.
03:47So it's incredibly exciting and it's free.
04:17It's been a really fast moving project, where I got to select works from the collection.
04:32Objects, I wanted to make sure that we were able to showcase costumes, but also musical instruments, objects that kind of convey her whole career and creativity.
04:42So you'll see a microphone behind me, we've got guitars, but also we've got storyboards.
04:47So I had a sort of vision to show creative process, to show the different eras, but also to kind of echo the sort of chapters in her amazing and prolific career.
05:43I don't know actually, I mean, I hope that she is enjoying it.
05:51I think that, you know, drawing down into the songbook, into her sort of creative inspirations, there's so many synergies with the V&A and with our collections.
06:03So whether it's the sort of Victorian inspired look for Fortnite, or, you know, we have multiple kind of references to the poets and all kinds of storytelling.
06:15So I hope she'll find inspiration from it too.
06:33Thank you.
