Columnist and former NFL executive Andrew Brandt claps back at the idea that a $50 million quarterback prevents teams from building a competitive roster. He argues that smart management can balance a high-priced QB with a strong supporting cast. Is it really possible to build a winning team around a big-budget quarterback? 00:00I always clap back and people say, well, if you have a 50 million quarterback, you can't build a
00:04roster. Sure you can. You've got half your team and the Packers is more than that. Packers is
00:10probably 60% of the team, 65% on rookie contracts. So let's say you have 40 players on contracts
00:18averaging cap numbers of a million, that's 40 million. So you got 25 players to deal with $210
00:25million. So it's never been easier to manage a cap because of this rookie scale. And I don't
00:33think that's a problem at all, especially for the Packers. I've got the lowest spending offense in
00:39the league right now. Obviously it'll increase with this love money, but I mean, they've got
00:4412 receivers making like $12 million total.
