00:00New Brighton on Wirral was once a bustling seaside resort with bathing pools, a pier
00:07and a ballroom. Finally remembered by generations who visited the area either as a child or
00:13with their own kids. From Liverpool you can get here by car in around 20 minutes or you
00:18can hop on the train and get here in roughly the same time. It has seen its fair share
00:23of hardship over the decades. Neglected by underinvestment has seen the resort offer
00:28decline. However, the town is now fighting back and turning itself into an innovative
00:33modern resort. A major part of New Brighton's regeneration is Rock Point Leisure. Helping
00:39to open numerous small businesses in the town's Victoria Quarter, the company is helping to
00:45revive New Brighton to recover the damage done to the local economy and make it shiny
00:51and brand new. Now bursting with independent bars, restaurants, music venues, record stores,
00:56vintage shops and even vibrant street art. A trip to New Brighton Beach can be so much
01:03fun on a day like today, especially it seems like everyone has had the same idea as me.
01:09It is great to see it absolutely bustling here and long may it continue. The area boasts
01:17a unique mix of old and new. It's 19th century grade, two listed former sea defence, Fort
01:22Perch Rock. Together with a variety of other heritage and historical points of interest,
01:26the large grass seafront areas known locally as the dips provide the perfect venue for
01:31events. Also in New Brighton you'll find one of the world's most iconic landmarks, Perch
01:36Rock Lighthouse. Built in 1830, although it ceased operation in 1973, visitors can still
01:42enjoy stunning views here. Well I will definitely be returning here. It's just got such character
01:49about it. There's fantastic views, beautiful beaches and it's just loads of fun.
