00:00Asyan needs to be more vocal and united in voicing its views on Israel's continued oppression
00:12of the Palestinian people, says former Foreign Minister Tan Sri Rais Yatim.
00:18After the ICJ and the ICC have produced their judgments, Israel should respect those decisions
00:27and stop attacking.
00:29But there is no policing done.
00:32Therefore the UN now, for God's sake and for the sake of humanity, there must be a group
00:37supervising peace in Gaza itself.
00:41The other groups of the world that are now active considering this, like the League of
00:48the Arab League, like the OIC, the NAM, must play a role, inclusive of the people leading
00:56Asyan.
00:58I've mentioned the fact that Asyan needs to voice more on this part, but they have not
01:03done so. This has to be done, perhaps through the urging of Malaysia itself.
01:08Rais, who is also Perdana Global Peace Foundation PGPF advisor, said the Palestine issue can
01:15be brought up by Asyan member countries through platforms such as forums, foreign ministers'
01:20meetings and even at meetings involving heads of governments.
01:24He was speaking at the Coalition of Malaysian Non-Governmental Organizations' free Palestine
01:30Colloquium held at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya on Monday.
01:36Meanwhile, former Premier Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, who is PGPF president, was unable
01:43to attend the colloquium as he is currently warded at the National Heart Institute for
01:48Medical Observation.
01:50His speech was read out by PGPF Chairman Tan Sri Norianmai.
02:13Among the speakers at the colloquium were Rabbi Yisroel David Weiss from Neturei Karta.
02:43Former UN Assistant Secretary General Hans-Christoph von Spohnek and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions
02:49Malaysia Chairman Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nazari Ismail.
