@Aztrosist reviews the viral video of a skincare company participating in the "Boots and a Slicked Back Bun" TikTok trend. The original video was posted by the company TBH Skincare on both its Instagram and TikTok accounts. The Instagram Reel has arguably gained more attention though, as it was reposted from their account @tbhskincare_ to X this week (where it was ridiculed).

00:00Would you like to see the greatest nightmare blunt rotation?
00:09This is gen z boss and a mini. A viral tiktok trend that has me wanting to rescind my zoomer
00:14card. I'm clocking out, I'm not sure where I'll go, but I can't be known as a zoomer anymore.
00:19I feel like this tiktok is what you see at introduction day and hell,
00:22getting to know each other. I imagine it would be really terrifying to watch high,
00:25and yes it's gone viral. This instagram post from tbh skincare received millions of views
00:31since it's posting on july 9th and it's actually a play on a tiktok trend that we should probably
00:35talk about first. Boots and a slicked back bun is what they said in the original tiktok that
00:40started going viral in mid 2024. This clip was assumedly a very spur of the moment song which
00:44received 7 million plays. They're probably drunk and they're having a hell of a time,
00:47honestly seems pretty fun. Before long people started copying this format and it spread
00:51throughout july like a tiktok from lauren cosler which received millions of views as well. People
00:55even used the original sound, reenacting it in their own style like this one by dos yes. Hell,
00:59this trend took off so much that celebrities like amy poehler did a whole video with former
01:03snl cast members rachel dratch, seth meyers, and poehler's old parks and recs castmate rashida
01:08jones. This also got a ton of views, tens of millions of plays, so they basically mogged the
01:12whole category. It's kind of like celebrities have a virality cheat code. At least they aren't singing
01:16john lennon's imagine this time. Some people would take that amy poehler video and make green screen
01:21edits like this one by ferrero rochelle. Still being able to just barely see seth meyers walking
01:26in the background like a ghost in an episode of ghost adventures is very cursed though. So yeah,
01:29that's the story. That trend led to this gen z boss and a mini clip from tbh skincare and here we
01:34are. After this skincare clip was clipped, this video got a lot of flack. Many have ascribed the
01:38cursed word. They called this, oh my god i almost don't even want to say it, cringe. Many even said
01:44it's akin to millennial cringe. If someone told me that i would automatically dissipate. It's one
01:48thing to be cringe but to be millennial cringe, geez you didn't have to burn them alive with your
01:51words. Many tweets went viral dunking on the video and so tbh skincare responded, calling out the
01:56negative comments with a video clapback. They're kind of playfully calling out some particularly
02:00misogynistic and hateful comments. Honestly they look like they're having fun, maybe work wouldn't
02:03be so bad if we could all just dance and scream into the camera a little bit every week. I think
02:07if they were doing this at my workplace though i'd be hiding in the corner of the office cowering,
02:11making sure that i'm not on the camera. Many then responded to this video though, some jokingly
02:14calling for an internet shutdown after 5pm. It's a pretty funny idea honestly, the internet should
02:19just not work during certain hours, everyone would probably be a lot happier. Others said they won,
02:22you're mad and they're laughing. And honestly they're right, i mean they're up in a skyrise
02:26making fat sacks, assumedly, and they got marketing for their company. You mams have won the internet.
02:31I do however think if you took this original video, slowed it down, and put horrifying music
02:34over it, it'd be akin to that old whipped cream pouring like waterfalls video. Editor do your magic.
02:44Now that's art. Anyway, what do you think of this new trend? Are you about to go out with your
02:48friends and do a video like this? I need a version of this where it's all gamer bros wearing like
02:52vintage tabasco shirts. There needs to be one of these for like uh the guy who wears the legend
02:56of zelda t-shirt with khaki shorts and sandals. That's the coolest guy. The guy who owns like a
03:00eat sleep repeat poster in his bedroom. Anyway i'm gonna go into my mind palace and manifest
03:05six friends who will do this dance with me. Bye!
