00:00Hello everyone, we are back, we had a little bit of technical difficulties, sorry about
00:22that.
00:23We are just now coming up to the second skater of our pre-novice pattern dance, our second
00:28pattern dance, which is our Starlight Waltz.
00:58Here comes our next skaters, Odalie and Zilong, for their Starlight Waltz.
01:28Here we go, Odalie, Zilong, Odalie, Zilong, Odalie, Zilong, Odalie, Zilong, Odalie, Zilong,
01:57Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong, Zilong.
02:08Going through their first round of the Starlight Waltz, seeing the difference in the way that
02:11they skated this compared to their Harris Tango, it's going to be a lot flowy, the edges
02:16sloping up and around, getting into the three turns now, keep everything smooth and solid
02:23as they go across the ice.
02:53Good job by Odalie and Zilong on that Starlight Waltz, just seeing the depth of edge that
03:08they had going all the way across, really getting into their knees, using their height
03:13to their advantage as they push down into the corners.
03:16Super important when it comes to this Starlight Waltz, judges really want to see them take
03:20it down into the corners.
03:22Don't shrink this dance, push out the dance, use it all the way through, all the way down
03:27to the boards on each end of the corner.
03:41The score for Odalie and Zilong for the Starlight Waltz, 26.41.
03:49With a total score of 25.96, Odalie and Zilong are currently in first place.
03:59The next competitors represent Skate Canada Brampton Jacuzzi.
04:03Please welcome Emily Chin and Nathan Chin.
04:08Here comes Emily and Nathan Chin again for their Starlight Waltz.
04:13Starlight Waltz.
04:44Starlight Waltz.
05:01Good job in the second part of this dance, getting into their knees on the crosses, pushing
05:06the dance out, really good job in this waltz.
05:09Again, as I said before, pushing the dance out, making sure that you get it over to that
05:13side.
05:31A little bit of a stumble there going into the first set of the three turns, but they
05:35were able to get navigated pretty well.
05:38Getting into their edges, again, just as they had on their first pattern, down deep into
05:43their edges.
05:44Showcasing deep edge work as they go across, looking together and looking towards the judges.
05:50Emily Chin and Nathan Chin.
06:12Good job from Emily and Nathan on that one, really setting up in their first part of the
06:17dance the edges, the deep edge work on their chasse, taking it up, up to the middle, down
06:23to the boards, really what you want to see.
06:25You don't want to let any of these edges go flat, you want to make sure that you're really
06:29curving it like a long S, back and forth across the ice when it comes to those longer edges.
06:36Really getting that is the best way to get the most points.
06:47The score for Emily Chin and Nathan Chin for the Starlight Waltz, 23.16.
07:07With a total score of 22.94, Emily and Nathan are currently in second place.
07:17The next pair of skaters represent Skate Canada Brampton-Chincoosy.
07:22Please welcome Piper Crawford and Mouaz Zeshan.
07:27Here comes our second team from Skate Canada Brampton-Chincoosy, Piper and Mouaz for their
07:33Starlight Waltz.
07:48Similar to what we had with the Harris Tangos, each team using different types of music.
08:05Again, all loud, just want to make sure you're still feeling the different piece of music.
08:11Even though it has the same beat, you want to make sure you're still skating to it.
08:15Each team doing a good job of that as they get into their second half of their dance.
08:45Good job by this team on the position change, making sure that they have that strong form
09:03going through you.
09:04Don't want to lose that strong position even when you're switching forwards to backwards
09:08across.
09:16Good job by Piper and Mouaz on that dance, really pushing it down towards the ends as
09:41all of these teams really have done a good job of pushing it down towards the ends using
09:46the ice.
09:47No matter the size of the team, they're all doing a very good job of getting pretty solid
09:51ice usage out of it, which coaches are definitely happy with.
09:54Obviously, there's different segments they want to make sure that they're working together
09:57on, really maintaining their focus.
10:10Here comes our final skaters of the Pre-Novice Pattern Dance event, Stella and Elliot.
10:40Let's go.
11:11Good job in the corner of this team, that leg extension on that back right outside edge.
11:21Good job of them matching it as they lift it high into the air.
11:24Could be a key benefit for taller teams is having that super high leg extension to really
11:29showcase to judges that you have that straight leg as we move now to their second round.
11:40Good job.
12:10That was Stella and Elliot with their Starlight Waltz.
12:35Good job by them using down to the whole ice, as I said in the dance, really showcasing
12:41the extension that comes with being a taller team and using it to their advantage as we
12:45wait now for their results.
12:48This score for Stella Ferris and Elliot Ricksteiner for the Starlight Waltz, 26.69.
13:10With a total score of 25.85, Stella and Elliot are currently in second place.
13:18This completes the Pre-Novice Dance Pattern Dance event.
13:22The current unofficial standings in third place from Skate Canada Branson Jacuzzi, Emily
13:28Chin and Nathan Chin.
13:31In second place from the Starboard Figure Skating Club, Stella Ferris and Elliot Ricksteiner.
13:39And that concludes our Pre-Novice Pattern Dance category here at the July Sectional
13:53Series event.
