00:00Mr. DeBoer has got a little bit of pressure down in Tuscaloosa, following in the footsteps
00:08of one Nick Saban.
00:11He certainly does.
00:12Kalen DeBoer, of course, comes over from Washington, getting some very big shoes to fill.
00:18And you know what doesn't help either?
00:19I mean, the guy's basically sitting over there watching you on the on that SEC network desk
00:25while you're trying to do your first press conference as the new coach at Alabama.
00:30It's bad enough you've got to replace the guy, but you've got to have him stare at you
00:34from a TV desk while you're trying to do it.
00:37I can't imagine that that was good for Kalen DeBoer yesterday.
00:40Here's what I do know from listening to this guy.
00:43We're going to miss Nick because this guy, he's as dry as the paint on the wall.
00:49I mean, you ain't going to get much out of him.

00:52Kalen DeBoer, who, of course, has to thank everything that he has being at Alabama for
00:57the foundation that Nick Saban built there.

01:07It went in the SB the other night and got a chance to finally, it seemed like every
01:12time I got a chance to see the speech, it was just a little blurp.
01:16Got to see the whole thing.
01:17And just like always, there's something that we've always taken from those speeches.
01:22Cal deserved with that honor.
01:23And then personally, and from, I think on behalf of everyone with Alabama football and
01:29the University of Alabama, we appreciate everything coach has done to, you know, make this foundation
01:35strong to where we can continue to build on it, continue to help, help, you know, those
01:42that are supportive of our program, proud, and just appreciate all those years and hard
01:47work that's been put into this.

01:51Look, I think this is going to be a, this is going to be a rough road for Calen.

02:39And he's going to go after, they are used to 11 and one, 10 and two, double digit wins.

02:54One loss in Tuscaloosa is a problem and it becomes an issue.
02:59Then you've got the people that are never satisfied if they win by a field goal or a

03:07They want to win big and they want to win all ways, every game, every week, every season.
03:13The stress of it is second to none.
03:17I don't ever want to follow in the footsteps of a guy like Nick Saban.
03:23I mean, honestly, like it's, you know, there's certain guys we can go down the list.
03:29It would take a while, but it's, it's a litany of guys that have failed after following in
03:36the footsteps of legends, like, you know, this guy Saban or even, you know, Bob Knight
03:42and it goes on and on.
03:44You could go with John Wooden.
03:46You could go, you know, just endless.
03:48The amount of guys that have been legendary that you have to follow and it never works
03:53out the way people think it's going to work out.
03:56It really doesn't.
