00:00Notable MLB trade candidates, a few that were asked conversations about their futures this
00:09week.
00:10Namely, Pete Alonzo, ahead of the home run derby on Monday in Arlington, stressed that
00:14he wants to remain with the New York Mets in this season and beyond.
00:19Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was asked about his future in Toronto, saying he wants to stay
00:24with the Blue Jays as well.
00:26Beau Bichette for a struggling Blue Jays team, Luis Robert for the Chicago White Sox
00:33and Jazz Chisholm.
00:34If there's ever a trade for Jazz, maybe we'll hear about it from our guy, Craig Misch.
00:39A couple of the notable trade targets, DRS, at least from the offensive perspective around
00:43MLB.
00:44Yeah, and you know what, let's start with Pete Alonzo, right?
00:48Because there's a couple things of what you say and what you do, and I've always been
00:51a proponent for players, just make it easy on yourself, which I'm going to bring up the
00:55New York Yankees right now.
00:56Last year, Aaron Judge, in the thick of that huge debate on whether or not they're going
00:59to sign him or get back, Aaron Judge repeatedly was giving you the notion that, look, if I
01:04leave, I leave.
01:05It's not a big deal here.
01:06And I remember one of the beat reporters asked him a question like, well, what are you going
01:08to tell the young kids or Yankees fans who absolutely adore you?
01:12And he basically was telling them, yeah, well, there'll be other players next year if I'm
01:14not here that you can like, which I'm like, this is just wild.
01:17Even if you believe that deep down, that's not what you're supposed to say.
01:20So then I bring up Juan Soto, who again, Scott Forrest as an agent, we know he wants to get
01:23paid a lot of money, but you don't get all the warm and fuzzy.
01:26It's like when you get traded to New York, you're supposed to be like, this is where
01:29I always wanted to be.
01:30Even if you don't believe it, growing up as a kid, you know, wherever I was in what country,
01:34you know what?
01:35I always wanted to be a Yankee.
01:36And I hope this is my long term destination.
01:38Even if you don't believe it, it just sends those good vibes and gets the fans on your
01:42side.
01:43Juan Soto doing the opposite.
01:44Yeah.
01:45Yeah.
01:46We'll see how it goes.
01:47Right.
01:48No big deal.
01:49So then you take a look at Pete Alonzo, who's actually saying the right things like, no,
01:50like I know we're struggling with the Mets.
01:51I can't picture being anywhere else.
01:53I want to be a lifelong Met, which endears you to the fan base.
01:56Now when you go out and sign Scott Boris and you want to hit the free agent market and
01:59you want to get the best price, that sort of tells a little bit of a different tale.
02:02But you see like the tone of those like, no big deal, it's a business as opposed to being
02:06like, I always wanted to be here.
02:08So Pete Alonzo, for my money, is probably going to stay in New York Met because you
02:10do need a star, right?
02:12Like Steve Cohen has more money than anybody in baseball.
02:15I understand like maybe building a franchise doesn't include paying Pete Alonzo a ton of
02:19money because you're looking down the line a little bit more.
02:22It's easy to do that in Kansas City and Pittsburgh per se.
02:24You can't do that with the New York Mets.
02:26I believe he gets signed there.
02:27But the other ones that you brought up, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are the Blue
02:31Jays.
02:32That's a big money town and a big money market.
02:35But they're not working out at all at this point.
02:37That young core that you had put together over the past couple of years, we were expecting
02:41the fruits of that labor to start to bear at this point saying, that's one of the more
02:44fun young teams in baseball.
02:46Pay them all, keep them together for a decade and see what happens.
02:49It just hasn't worked out.
02:50So Vladdy and Bo moving on wouldn't surprise me as much as Pete Alonzo moving on from the
02:56New York Mets.
02:57Robert Jr., he's gone.
02:58Jazz Chisholm, he's gone as well.
02:59But I do think those first three guys, Alonzo, Guerrero Jr. and Bichette, are interesting
03:03options there.
