Can Rory End His Major Drought at Royal Troon This Week?

00:00Well, does Rory have what it takes to snap the decade-long drought this week at Troon?
00:09Rory is my one-and-done pick this week, so I really hope he has what it takes, because
00:13that would make me look pretty good.
00:15I would say the thing for Rory is, he has, it's a little bit of a gamble, right?
00:22Because he has a lot of incredible superhuman traits that should, if he plays his course
00:28the right way, translate to low scoring and he can run away with the thing in the same
00:32fashion that Henrik Stenson did in 2016 at Troon.
00:35He's got that tee-down driver where he can draw it off the tee, he can cut it, that type
00:39of command is going to be huge.
00:41He is a high ball hitter, and not to say he can't change the way he's kind of flatting
00:47the ball with his irons and approach shots, but we've seen in the past where if he is
00:52hitting it high and the wind's impacting it, we've seen him a little loose with the wedges
00:56in some years past where the advantage he's gaining off the tee could get negated if he
01:00can't capitalize on it with his approach shots.
01:02And then the other piece of that is the same concern that I have for Scottie.
01:05He's a guy that we've seen struggle at times in high leverage situations with the putter,
01:09goes to a surface that can be bumpy and unpredictable like this Red Fescue, and I don't think we're
01:15going to get a repeat of the US Open, but certainly could give some strokes away.
01:18We saw that in 2022 at the Open, where he just could not buy a putt on Sunday, and Cam
01:23Smith just snuck up from behind and ran away with the thing because he was making everything.
01:27So that's, I like Rory a lot this week, and I think this would be a good spot for him
01:31to break the slump, but it's just, you know, whether or not those factors come into play
01:36and he can kind of get those things under control.
