NKTI probes organ trafficking in hospital

The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) is investigating alleged cases of organ trafficking where one of its staff has been linked to. In a press conference on July 17 2024, the NKTI said that the suspected leader of the syndicate was not the hospital's head nurse but a staff nurse. The NKTI issued the statement after the National Bureau of Investigation arrested three persons who allegedly buy and sell human organs, including kidneys. The NKTI staff remains at large.

00:00Our staff nurse, she's not a head nurse, we're just correcting that.
00:06She's our staff nurse here at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute.
00:11We called her, and of course, she's with Manuel, our other staff,
00:18to find out from her if the star is real.
00:23She said it's not real, and she doesn't know the three people.
00:29That's what she said on the news.
00:32One of the things we thought about is that we really need to strengthen the disease organ donation.
00:40Because that's the only solution to have donors,
00:46our other patients, who are no longer looking for their family or friends,
00:52or they continue to choose.
00:56So let's strengthen our disease organ donation.
