Chairman of govt agency for senior citizens asked to resign over alleged corruption

Five deputies of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), in a press conference on June 21, 2024, call on NCSC Chairman Franklin Quijano to resign amid corruption allegations involving unused funds for the elderly amounting to P180 million.

00:10And I believe that this is a move that did not happen overnight, but rather based on observations as well as the problems that has kept on piling up and is a recurring problem.
00:25That's why we really need to address the problem that we have with the leadership currently at the National Commission for Senior Citizens.
00:34Q1. Kung malalaman po ng mga senior citizens and mga Pilipinong people, baka po masi mawaling trust nila with the agency. So paamin niyo po ma-einsure na kahit ganito yung nangyari, ma-einsure niyo po na mawag kakatiwalaan pa rin po niyo?
01:05As a matter of fact, kilala po nila yan ako at paano ako magtrabaho kaming during the pandemic. So cluster po ay Region 6 and 7. At noon natin nila launch yung ating mga programa para maramdaman nila talaga yung sincero rin namin at pagmamahal namin sa atin.
01:23So pagnaayon lang yung leadership natin sa NCSC, I believe mas magiging maningning yung ating magtatrabaho at pagdibigay ng mga programa sa ating mga kababayan.
