00:00We've seen huge improvements in air quality across Sheffield.
00:04All of the monitoring stations that look into air quality across our city
00:09are showing an improvement in air quality as a result of the hard work that everyone's put in
00:14to improve their vehicles with the support that's been given by the council.
00:19But what we do know is that five locations across the city are not meeting that legal compliance.
00:25At the moment they're just not good enough.
00:27There's no surprises that many of them are focused around areas like Avondale Gate
00:32where there's a high density, lots of vehicles that are buses that are moving back and forwards.
00:38Now if you use buses on a regular basis and we want to make sure that more people do
00:42and it's a really viable choice for people, you'll notice that the buses in Sheffield are dirty.
00:47We want to work with South Yorkshire's Mayor Oliver Coppard
00:50who's committed to improving our transport network both in terms of bus and tram
00:54and a new Labour government to electrify our fleet of buses in the city.
00:58Because by doing that we know that we can meet legal compliance in those areas
01:02in terms of air quality and improve life chances for everyone as a result of having better air.
01:07But we also know that we can move much more closely towards those
01:10World Health Organisation safe standards of air quality.
