00:00So, who would be the contenders to replace Southgate? Well, anyhow, the Newcastle boss
00:04is high on the FA's shortlist of potential successors. He's done a great job at St James'
00:09Park, saving them from relegation and then leading them into the Champions League. They
00:13consolidated their position in the top half of the table last season. The question might
00:18be there whether the FA could afford to get him out of Newcastle and prize him away from
00:23a club that obviously wouldn't want to lose their boss. The departure of Amanda Staveley
00:27as co-owner from St James' Park might make that an easier job. She was considered a key
00:32ally of Anyhow. Graham Potter, who's been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea
00:37the season before last, is also thought to be on the FA's shortlist. He's been biding
00:41his time, waiting for the right job to come along and is thought to be interested in discussing
00:46the situation with England. Then there's Lee Carsley, England's under-21 boss, who led
00:50the youngsters to the European Championship. They actually managed to beat Spain in the
00:53final. And there's some foreign contenders as well. Thomas Tuchel's out of work. He would
00:58be interested in the job. He liked living in London when he was in charge of Chelsea.
01:02He's got a very good CV and, of course, he's got a history of winning big European trophies.
01:07He's won the Champions League before, of course, with the Blues. And then there's Mauricio
01:11Pochettino, another former Chelsea boss, who's out of work after being sacked by the Blues
01:16or leaving by mutual consent, I should say, at the end of last season. He'd be interested
01:20in the job. And he's, of course, known to the Football Association's technical director
01:24John McDermott, who was with Pochettino at Spurs. There's been some talk that the FA
01:28should go after Jurgen Klopp. That would obviously be a very exciting pursuit. He's out of work
01:34after walking away from Liverpool, but is thought to want a year or so out of the game
01:38on a sabbatical to recharge. So that seems an unlikely one.
