00:00I, on the wings of love.
00:05Heaven gained an angel when Richard Simmons passed away the day after turning 76 after
00:11falling in the bathroom of his Los Angeles home.
00:13He was a beloved personality, fitness guru that really helped people who needed it the
00:19most through his workout videos like sweating to the oldies.
00:23His books, talk show appearances, and his famous Slimmons workout facility.
00:28And he was like a local fixture in Beverly Hills, always wearing his, you know, over
00:31the top outfits.
00:33You would sweat too if it happened to you.
00:37Yes, Richard touched people through song, positivity, and his great sense of humor.
00:42I have the buns of an 18-year-old track star.
00:45But where there's brightness, there can be darkness, as Richard struggled with depression
00:49most of his life.
00:50I talked to somebody who spoke with him a week ago and said that Richard was depressed
00:56and that he was depressed about getting old, so he was having a rough time in the last
01:01week.
01:02But no matter what he was going through, he always put his fans first, even after disappearing
01:07from the public eye eight years ago.
01:09We did a documentary about it and basically discovered that he had a double knee replacement,
01:15which made it very hard for him to move around.
01:17And he was also just worn out from helping thousands of people.
01:22Yet he still found time to call and email his fans, post positive messages on social
01:27media, and express his gratitude, including this audio message just weeks ago.
01:33Thank you so much for reading my messages.
01:36No, thank you for being the beautiful light you were.
01:39We will never, ever forget you.
01:42Rest in peace, Richard.
01:43I always welcome everyone with unconditional love.
