00:00Good morning. This is the latest weather update for Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
00:07Let's first look at the weather systems that are affecting different parts of our country.
00:13At the moment, we are being monitored by a low-pressure area in the island of Mindanao.
00:19As of 3 a.m., it was last seen 310 kilometers east-northeast of Davao City.
00:25If we can see here in the latest satellite image,
00:28the clouds that bring this low-pressure area are expected to affect the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao.
00:35So, we expect that there will be chances of thunderstorms,
00:38up to occasional strong rains that may cause flooding or landslides.
00:43So, be careful to our fellow countrymen there.
00:46Meanwhile, in the northern part of our country,
00:49particularly here in the northern part of Southern Luzon,
00:52as well as in the northern part of Mindanao,
00:55there is still a continuous effect of southwest monsoon.
00:59If we can see in the satellite image,
01:01although there are clouds that we can see, it does not continue here in our country
01:06because we have a circulation or storm here in the area of Vietnam that is stretching here in Hanging Habagat.
01:13So, mostly, these clouds will only affect the area of Palawan
01:18and it will also bring isolated thunderstorms,
01:21mostly here in the western sections of Southern Luzon,
01:24as well as in the western sections of Mindanao.
01:27In the western part of our country,
01:30although we still experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,
01:34especially when it comes to the afternoon or night,
01:36it is still possible to have hot weather when it comes to the afternoon.
01:40And the areas affected by this southwest monsoon,
01:43this morning, it is also possible to experience sudden and rapid rain showers.
01:48So, we are just monitoring the thunderstorm advisory issued by our regional services division.
01:55Meanwhile, in the following days,
01:57this low-pressure area that we are monitoring does not remove the possibility
02:02or possibility that there will be a typhoon in the following days.
02:06That is why our monitoring is continuous.
02:08In the following days, we expect that it will bring rain showers starting tomorrow
02:13in a large part of the eastern and central Visayas and some parts of Mindanao.
02:18And before or after Sunday,
02:21it is expected that it will affect a large part of the Visayas, Bicol Region, and also in Mimaropa.
02:28And before the weekend arrives,
02:31it is also possible that it will bring rain showers in some parts of Calabar Zone, Metro Manila, and Central Luzon.
02:37So, we are monitoring the forecasts that are expected in the following days.
02:44As for the weather here in Luzon, as we mentioned earlier,
02:49the hot weather will continue, especially when the afternoon arrives,
02:53and there are chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms when it arrives in the afternoon,
02:58or more often in the afternoon or at night.
03:00But the areas affected by this southwest monsoon,
03:03it is possible that there will be sudden and rapid rain showers this morning.
03:08As for the weather,
03:11the temperature here in Lawag will range from 21 to 30 degrees Celsius.
03:18In Tuguegarao, it will range from 26 to 35 degrees Celsius.
03:22In Baguio, it will be 17 to 25 degrees Celsius, 23 to 31 for Tagaytay.
03:28And the maximum temperatures in Metro Manila and Legazpi will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
03:35As for the weather here today in most parts of our country,
03:39as we mentioned earlier,
03:41the effect of this southwest monsoon will continue.
03:45We are still expecting the rainy season in most parts of Palawan.
03:49Meanwhile, the effect of this low-pressure area will continue in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao region.
03:56We will also experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
04:00Just be aware, in the areas of Caraga and the southern portion of Eastern Visayas,
04:05it is possible that there will be heavy rain showers later in the evening or possibly later in the afternoon.
04:10Let us prepare for that and monitor for updates or heavy rainfall warnings
04:15or thunderstorm advisories that we are issuing to the Regional Services Division.
04:20Meanwhile, in the cold parts of Visayas and Mindanao,
04:24although it will feel like a sunny day,
04:27there are still possibilities of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms
04:31or sudden and quick rain showers,
04:34especially in the areas of Zamboanga Peninsula, Bay RMM, and Sucsargen.
04:40You can still experience isolated thunderstorms this morning.
04:47As for the water temperature,
04:49in Kalayaan Islands, it will range from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.
04:54Meanwhile, in Puerto Princesa, it will range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
04:59The maximum temperatures for Iloilo and Cebu are also expected to be 31 degrees Celsius.
05:04Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures for Tacloban are expected to be 32 degrees Celsius.
05:10For Cagayan de Oro, the water temperature will range from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
05:15The maximum temperatures for Metro Davao and Zamboanga are also expected to be 31 degrees Celsius.
05:20Meanwhile, in Zamboanga, the water temperature will range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.
05:25As for the sea level, we do not have any gale warnings for now.
05:29However, if we notice, there are other things to be careful of.
05:31The plans are to expand to the so-called villages of our country,
05:35as well as to the island villages of Mindanao,
05:38in the areas where the low-pressure area is visible.
05:41We are hoping for cloudy weather.
05:43The seas are a bit rough.
05:45The waves are a bit rough.
05:46So, be careful of the plans to expand to the so-called villages.
05:51This morning, the sun will rise at 5.35 a.m. and set at 6.29 p.m.
