00:00Hello listeners, welcome to my youtube channel. History was made in Tachihara,
00:06the birthplace of Japanese history and culture. It was a shocking grace that
00:12heralded the start of a new era in the Japanese women's middle distance. Check out the lap
00:22time leading up to the first Japanese women's 800-amp break, the one-minute mark.
00:34On July 15, at the Kansai University Athletic Federation's
00:41first long-distance training record meet, Kobo ran.
00:46A second-year student at Higashiyosaka Daigaku
00:58Kei High School, Osaka, ran for the women's 800-amp. She set a new Japanese record of
01:081 minute 59.93 seconds, becoming the first Japanese woman to break the two-minute
01:16mark in this event. The previous Japanese record was 2 minutes 0.45 seconds set by
01:26Sogimori Miho at the 2005 Japan Championships. She broke that record by 0.52 seconds,
01:39achieving the long-cherished dream of the Japanese women's middle distance.
01:46Want to break the one-minute mark? This time, my first goal was to break my high school record
01:542 minutes 02.57 seconds. I was aiming for a high school record,
02:01but I never thought I would be able to break the Japanese record here. So, to be honest,
02:08I am happy," she said, smiling with a slightly confused look on her face.
02:14She certainly had a promotion after three consecutive wins in the Japan Grand Prix
02:26Series this season, including the Kanagori Memorial in April, the Shizuoka International
02:35and the Konami Memorial in May. Kobo won his first Japan Championship at the end of June,
02:45with a time of 2 minutes 03.13 seconds, his third U18 Japan record of the season.
