Sydney art show keeps artists name a secret until sold

When purchasing a work of art, many connoisseurs place great value on the signatures in the corner. But that is not the case for hundreds of art lovers in Sydney. They have braved long queues to snap up pieces at the Incognito Art Show, where the person behind the painting remains anonymous before sale.

00:00At this exhibition, art is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.
00:17You don't know who you're buying until you've bought it, so you could be getting a kid's
00:20artwork or you could be getting this year's Archibald winner Laura Jones' artwork.
00:26These art lovers camping out all night in the cold to get their pick of more than 17,000
00:32originals on display, each with the same price tag of $100.
00:36So we started camping out yesterday morning at about 9am.
00:40How long were you guys queuing?
00:4224 hours.
00:49So excited!
00:50The organisers say it's all about removing barriers for aspiring artists, and making
00:56the art scene more inclusive for those wanting to collect.
00:59I worked so hard to work on this.
01:03So by taking the big name away, the big price tag away, it's given people the opportunity
01:07to come in and just pick art that they really love.
01:09With so much influence in our life at the moment, not knowing what we really want, or
01:17thinking we want something because somebody has told me I should like that, I think it's
01:22a great space for me to be in right now.
01:24This is for her brother who just opened a bakery today.
01:27All the money raised from the weekend will go to programs supporting artists with disabilities.
01:33And who knows, lucky art lovers might just score something of value themselves.
