00:00What was it about Eddie that you liked playing?
00:02I find him a fascinating character because he's,
00:05that's a great thing about doing a series or something.
00:08You can just keep adding layers.
00:10Yeah, I wanted to do the opposite of what I'd done last,
00:13which was the White Lotus.
00:14And in the White Lotus, he's a very American,
00:17very forward person.
00:20Whereas Edward is the opposite of that.
00:23He's highly contained, highly structured.
00:25He's an army man.
00:27He's also a tactician.
00:30He thinks before he speaks.
00:32He's in every way, he's kind of the opposite.
00:35So that attracted me.
00:36Also, I liked the idea of the kind of interesting
00:42linear narrative that is familiar,
00:44but very solid about someone who returns home
00:49and realizes that he's got to get his family
00:51out of a situation.
00:52And within that journey,
00:54he becomes addicted to the elixir of power and violence.
00:58And that felt fun to me.
01:00And beyond that, you know,
01:01I wanted to do something kind of highly comedic
01:06and quite zany, and it felt like that, you know?
01:09It does.
01:09And I mean, there's a tone kind of thing
01:12that Guy Ritchie's able to get,
01:15because this thing could fall like a souffle
01:16if they don't all mix, you know?
01:18Yeah, and that's very true.
01:20And with TV, you know, because he was all over the show,
01:25nobody didn't direct every episode.
01:26We had to be very, again, conscious of the fact
01:30that it's a tone that needs pace.
01:33You can't lose a minute.
01:35You can't have dead time.
01:36You can't be too comedic.
01:37You can't be too dramatic.
01:39You have to tow this very specific Ritchie line,
01:42which is his kind of tonal creation,
01:44which he's been doing for, you know, decades now.
01:47But the fun of it was finding the improv in the scene.
01:51Eddie's extremely dry.
01:54You know, Freddie is loud and bombastic.
01:57Those, mixing those two opposing comedic elements
02:01was always fun for Dan and I.
02:04Well, you're working opposite a chicken at one point.
02:06Exactly.
02:09When we're talking comedy and trying to...
02:12The chicken porno.
