00:00Hazrat Umar asked the Ka'b-e-Ahbar, what is Taqwa?
00:09There are different interpretations of Taqwa in the Qur'an.
00:13So, Hazrat Umar asked, the Ka'b-e-Ahbar were Jewish scholars who had accepted Islam.
00:18They are followers. What is Taqwa?
00:22He said, have you ever walked on a thorny path?
00:27Subhanallah.
00:29He said, yes.
00:31And I had only thorns, there was no greenery.
00:36So, he said, then what do you do?
00:41He said, I pack up my kurta,
00:45I pack up my garment,
00:47and I get out of the thorns.
00:53He said, this is Taqwa.
00:55That there are thorny thorns all around,
01:00save yourself from them and get out of them.
01:06And secondly,
01:08that people have strict attitudes,
01:11they stick like thorns.
01:13One sentence does not let a person sleep all night.
01:19It is such a wound.
01:22When Harith bin Abi Sufyan and Abdullah bin, what were they?
01:37He came to bring faith,
01:42before the conquest of Mecca.
01:45So, he refused to meet them.
01:48He said, I do not accept their faith,
01:52that they used to speak very harshly about me.
01:57The people of Taif threw stones.
02:00When he came, he welcomed them.
02:02He used to sit with them and eat dinner.
02:05One night he did not eat,
02:08so he came and apologized,
02:10that my recitation was left,
02:12so I could not come.
02:15He is the son of an aunt,
02:18and the son of an uncle.
02:22So, Abu Sufyan bin Harith.
02:28Harith was his eldest uncle.
02:33He said, they do not accept their faith,
02:35they used to speak very harshly about me.
02:39Then Hazrat Umm Salma recommended him,
02:42then he called them.
02:45So, the harsh attitude of the people,
02:48is like thorns in the path.
02:53So, instead of getting entangled in them,
02:56save yourself, close your ears,
02:58and go ahead.
03:00Do not try to answer,
03:03and clear your heart,
03:05and go ahead.
03:08Accept the tongue.
03:10Do you know,
03:15that the tongue will be the one,
03:18which will push you to hell?
03:22So,
03:28listen to the bitterness of the people,
03:31and bear it.
03:34And fill your tongue with honey.
03:37And speak sweetly.
03:39And even when you are angry,
03:42do not speak in such a way,
03:44that it hurts the other person.
