Central Visayas runner wins first gold of 2024 Palaro

Asia Paraase claims this year's first Palarong Pambansa gold medal as she ruled the secondary girls 3000m event at the Cebu City Sports Center Track Oval on July 11, 2024 Representing Central Visayas (Region 7), the 17-year-old Paraase logged 10:27.36 for the championship. An incoming Grade 12 student at Pajo National High School in Lapu-Lapu City, Paraase bested Chrishia Mae Tajarros and Mary Jane Pagayon who won the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Tajarros of Eastern Visayas (Region 8) clocked 10:39.72 while Pagayon of Davao Region (Region 11) covered the distance in 10:52.72.
