00:00The DICT was successful in tackling the so-called digital divide,
00:06which was followed by the programs laid out by the government.
00:10Meanwhile, the DICT will continue its efforts to protect the personal information of Filipinos
00:17against hacking and data breaching.
00:20This is Suljian Kim for Seto na Balita Live.
00:24Angelique, the ICT Development Index score of the Philippines has increased by 14%.
00:31From 65.0 points in 2023,
00:34we have now received 74.4 out of 100 index points
00:39according to the International Telecommunications Union of the United Nations.
00:43Aside from that, Angelique, the DICT is a consistent global prize awardee
00:48of the World Summit International Society within the next five years.
00:54The DICT achieved another important goal in tackling the so-called digital divide.
01:01Because of its Free Wi-Fi for All program,
01:04more than 13,000 access points or AP sites were successfully installed and arranged
01:09that provided free internet access to Filipinos
01:13in almost 1,500 locations in all 17 regions of the Philippines.
01:18The activation of new free Wi-Fi sites is just one of the proofs in the dedication of the DICT
01:25that every citizen, no matter where they are, can connect to the digital world.
01:31In terms of scale, in terms of penetration,
01:34in terms of the areas that have no connection, no connectivity,
01:39and we are now providing connectivity.
01:43So, we are still far away because we have a long way to go.
01:48The DICT continues to strive to ensure that the information of every Filipino has sufficient protection,
01:55especially when it comes to data breaching and hacking.
01:58Various agencies are pleased that the DICT strengthened the cyber security posture and defense of the companies.
02:05As of now, more than 3,000 incident reports have been closed
02:09because of their National Security Operations Center.
02:13There are more than 400 government websites.
02:16The DICT does not exist yet, but there are websites already.
02:20Many agencies of the government created websites without cyber security in mind.
02:30So, there is now an opportunity for cyber hackers.
02:34We are now scanning the different IT assets of the government.
02:40We can see what the vulnerabilities are.
02:43Meanwhile, with the help of the DICT,
02:46the 24 government agencies, including PRC, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig, SSS, and GSIS,
02:52were also successful in uniting on one platform.
02:57Because of the E-Gov app, the services of our government agencies can be accessed with just one sign-in.
03:04One of our projects is to streamline government service
03:11so that our citizens, instead of filing forms physically with government agencies,
03:20they can do it online.
03:25So, our motto is, don't get in line, get online.
03:29Because of the expansion of the information and communications technology industry of the country,
03:35more than 1.7 million ITBPM jobs were created by the DICT.
03:42The agency successfully conducted 2,000 ICT trainings
03:47so that the skill set of Filipinos in advanced technologies can be enriched.
03:53Angelique was also mentioned by DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy
03:57that the Philippines is one of the leading countries when it comes to the proper use of Artificial Intelligence or AI.
04:03And that's the latest from Quezon City.
04:06Back to you, Angelique.
04:08Okay, thank you so much, Sue Jin Kim.
