Sydney service commemorates those who served in the Middle East

Australian soldiers involved in operations in the Middle East will be commemorated with a service in Sydney today. It follows the New South Wales government's announcement pledging $2 million to a new memorial honouring those who served in the Middle East. CEO of 'Families of Veterans Guild' Renee Wilson is there today with her husband, veteran Gary Wilson, who was injured serving in Afghanistan. She says Australians don't understand what veterans went through in the Middle East.

00:20just as wounded and he shook his head and he said, Australia doesn't know, he doesn't
00:24know what these veterans are going to go through and what your family is going to go through
00:28and I think today is an opportunity for Australia to start learning more about what has been
00:33done to protect this beautiful country that we live in.
00:38It's part of the, they don't understand but also they don't need to know because it's
00:43horrible over there, some of the stuff we had to do in the sea isn't, you don't want
