00:00 War Memorial Council has taken a decision to expand that frontier conflict representation
00:04 and it's great to see that as part of recognising Australia and Australian colonial involvement
00:09 in conflict prior to Federation and that will be part of that representation which provides
00:15 useful context to the overall work that the Australian War Memorial does here through
00:19 its exhibition spaces in providing context to its role as Australia's national memorial.
00:25 But how substantial, how important should that space be?
00:28 Well it's going to be a more substantial reflection than we've had historically.
00:33 That is important to make sure that we do provide proper context and the decisions around
00:37 how individual exhibitions and those spaces are laid out and set out is a matter for the
00:41 Australian War Memorial Council.
00:49 Well it's great to see it all coming together.
00:58 There's certainly a need to expand the memorial with more exhibition space so that we can
01:03 properly reflect on 21st century conflict that hasn't been able to be properly reflected
01:08 here historically and now as we see the building starting to come together, the concrete pours,
01:14 the new parade space, start to get a physical sense of what those new exhibition spaces
01:19 will be able to provide to Australians all over the country that come to visit the War
01:23 Memorial here in Canberra.
