00:04:16I don't know.
00:04:18I don't know.
00:04:20I don't know.
00:04:22Remember when Mick said when he was fighting,
00:04:27sometimes he'd fight so hard that he was thinking that
00:04:32he broke something inside and was gonna die?
00:04:38And that's when he said the angels was calling on him.
00:04:44Rocky, you're scaring me. I don't know.
00:04:46What's the problem?
00:04:48I can't.
00:04:50Can't what?
00:04:53I can't stop my hands from shaking.
00:05:00I never felt this.
00:05:02I gotta see a doctor.
00:05:03No, I just wanna go home.
00:05:06No.
00:05:08I'm just tired.
00:05:12I just wanna go home, Mick.
00:05:14I'm just tired.
00:05:17I just wanna go home, okay?
00:05:18Okay.
00:05:22Okay.
00:05:42Aidy, where's the kid?
00:05:43I don't know.
00:05:45I don't see the kid.
00:05:47Where's the kid?
00:05:48Aidy, you?
00:05:50Dad! Dad!
00:05:52Oh, there he is! There he is!
00:05:53Hey, Slugger, how you doing?
00:05:56Say hi to your mama.
00:05:57Hi, Mom.
00:05:58Oh, they done forgotten us.
00:05:59Hi, Uncle Paulie.
00:06:00Dad, how you feeling?
00:06:01Oh, I got a few new dents.
00:06:02How you doing at school?
00:06:03I made the honor roll.
00:06:04You're beautiful.
00:06:05Hi, I'm Sheila Downs, airport security.
00:06:07Welcome home.
00:06:08If you follow me, there's a press reception inside.
00:06:11Rocky, how did you feel about the Russian people in general?
00:06:14Oh, you know, it was very good.
00:06:15They was great people.
00:06:16I mean, I didn't understand what they was speaking all the time,
00:06:19but I think I understood what they was meaning.
00:06:21Mrs. Balboa, did you learn any Russian?
00:06:23Uh, did I learn Russian?
00:06:24Yeah, yeah, she got fluid and vodka.
00:06:28Rocky, there are rumors of physical complications after the fight.
00:06:32Complications?
00:06:33No, no, those, those were rumors.
00:06:35He's in, he's in perfect physical condition.
00:06:40Rocky, a question.
00:06:41Recently, the American Medical Association recommended that boxing be banned.
00:06:45Yeah.
00:06:46Do you agree with the doctors?
00:06:47Yeah, you know, absolutely.
00:06:49I think the doctors should never fight, no.
00:06:51That was a beautiful answer, champ.
00:06:53That's right.
00:06:54Doctors should stay out of the ring.
00:06:56Doctors should never fight.
00:06:57They should stay out of the ring forever.
00:06:59Rocky Balboa, the funniest champion ever.
00:07:02America's own Rocky Balboa.
00:07:04How are you? How are you?
00:07:05George Washington Duke here.
00:07:07Promoter extraordinaire.
00:07:08Welcome him back.
00:07:09Rocky Balboa, champion of all the Americans and all the Russians.
00:07:13Now, I would, uh, I'd like to digress from the questions a bit
00:07:16and, uh, pose an interesting proposition to the media.
00:07:19Everyone in this city, certainly in the world of sports,
00:07:22knows my reputation for promoting some of the finest extravaganzas in this country.
00:07:28So now, with the press present,
00:07:30I'd like to ask you, Rocky Balboa,
00:07:33to be the flamboyant, rambunctious sportsman we know you can be.
00:07:38And give this man here, Union Kane,
00:07:40a chance to challenge you for the heavyweight championship of the world.
00:07:44Balboa, I want the opportunity to take what you got.
00:07:47Isn't this bad timing to present a challenger, Duke?
00:07:50The man just got off the plane.
00:07:52Timing is the essence of life, gentlemen and ladies.
00:07:55Now, what I have on this paper
00:07:57is the largest guarantee ever offered to a champion on this planet.
00:08:02I'm talking about a fantastic international extravaganza
00:08:06to be held in Japan called Letting It Go in Tokyo.
00:08:10People, ain't it incredible that only in America
00:08:13could people like us rise from oppression,
00:08:15rise from poverty, to join hands in this international event.
00:08:20Only in America.
00:08:21Excuse me.
00:08:23Excuse me. My husband is retired.
00:08:26He has nothing. He has nothing more to do.
00:08:29Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Hey, Rocky.
00:08:31Don't you consider this a public responsibility to respond now rather than later?
00:08:36Respond to the people.
00:08:37I mean, isn't this a question of professionalism,
00:08:39to talk about it now, not later?
00:08:41Mind if I hear first?
00:08:43Whipping your guy ain't nothing like what I got here for you.
00:08:45So what in the hell is this all mean?
00:08:47No, no, no. That isn't enough. We got to hear about this now.
00:08:50Got to think about that.
00:08:51So anyway, I want to tell everybody that the flight over was really nice.
00:08:57Come on, guys. We need more.
00:08:59Adrian, you know, if you weren't with me, I never would have done this good.
00:09:02You're my Adrian. You're always there, you know.
00:09:04And my kid, having you, it's like being born all over again.
00:09:09Come on. What do you say? Are you going to retire or not?
00:09:12Excuse me. I'd like to go home now.
00:09:15Are you going to give us something to write? What do you say?
00:09:17Thanks very much. I appreciate it.
00:09:23Don't worry. You'll get it. You'll get it.
00:09:39I know, really. It's great.
00:09:51Ah, yo. Look at this place.
00:09:56I swear I ain't never leaving this place again. You know that?
00:09:59I swear. Hey, would you like to dance?
00:10:02How about a homecoming dance with your old man?
00:10:05No, don't be silly. It's cold.
00:10:06I'll warm you up, young lady. Come on, have a dance.
00:10:09Hurry up. The music's almost over.
00:10:13You like the song? You should rest.
00:10:15Yeah, I know. I'm tired.
00:10:17Oh, yeah? Well, maybe I'll take you upstairs and violate you like a parking meter.
00:10:21It'll cost you a quarter.
00:10:23Hey, yo, Adrian. What did you learn to talk dirty like that?
00:10:29Uncle Pauly, you know, there's something strange about that.
00:10:34He just took a few hard shots.
00:10:36I think you tell better jokes than me, Adrian.
00:10:43Yo, did I hear somebody call for their old man?
00:10:46Did you do this?
00:10:48Hey, it's sleep time, kid. Okay.
00:10:50Dad, did you know that your bones grow three times as fast during the night?
00:10:53No, I didn't know that, but I heard something like that once.
00:10:56Is that me? Oh, yeah, that's you.
00:10:58Excellent. Now, is that me?
00:11:00Yeah. Oh, it was Fisher, right?
00:11:02Yeah, that's right. That's beautiful.
00:11:04Look at the tent. You know, the fish was a lot bigger, if I recall.
00:11:08Well, actually, that was a lot smaller.
00:11:11Now, anyway, come on. Hit the bed.
00:11:14It's time for you to get healthy and everything.
00:11:16This is great how you do this. I don't know where you learned this.
00:11:19There's something out of this thing that comes out of your fingers.
00:11:23Oh, my God.
00:11:26Oh, my God.
00:11:29Who's this?
00:11:33That's Madame Dupont, my French teacher.
00:11:36Really?
00:11:40Hmm. Yeah, she looks French. Sure.
00:11:43I wouldn't show this to your mother,
00:11:45because she don't understand French too good.
00:11:48Oh, my God. Better cover that one up.
00:11:51Well, chap, it's bedtime.
00:11:54Hey, you know what? I know some French talk.
00:11:57Knock, knock.
00:11:59Who's there? Madame.
00:12:01Madame who? Madame Foote's caught in the door.
00:12:04That's an old joke.
00:12:06What do you want from me? I'm trying.
00:12:08I don't know all the good things, you know.
00:12:11Oh, what's this?
00:12:13What?
00:12:15Look what I found in your ear, Russian money.
00:12:18Huh? Money ears.
00:12:20All right. Anyway, listen, kid, you got to get some sleep.
00:12:23Dad? Yeah?
00:12:25Remember when you said having me was like being born again?
00:12:28Yeah. What did you mean?
00:12:30Well, you know, when you come up like I did
00:12:34and you got, like, three square meals of zero a day,
00:12:38what do you mean?
00:12:40You got the A side of life and the B side of life.
00:12:43I'm, like, on the B side.
00:12:45But you, you got all the breaks.
00:12:47So when I see you having all these things that I didn't have,
00:12:51I, like, dip through your eyes.
00:12:54I enjoy you a little bit.
00:12:56It's like having it all over again.
00:12:58It's nice.
00:13:00Hey, hey, look at my face.
00:13:03Do I look like a raccoon?
00:13:05A little bit.
00:13:07Yeah, like Rocky Raccoon? Yeah, a little bit.
00:13:09Nah. Yeah, you do a little.
00:13:11Really? Hey, if you think I look bad,
00:13:14you ought to see the other guy's knuckles.
00:13:17Anyway, yo, good night.
00:13:20Night. Okay, kid.
00:13:23Dad? Nope.
00:13:25Glad you're home.
00:13:27Thanks. I appreciate it.
00:13:30Yeah, we'll play tomorrow, okay?
00:13:32Maybe you can show me your English teacher.
00:13:35She's pretty hot, too. Nah.
00:13:37Good night, kid.
00:13:39You deserve the worst for what you did.
00:13:41Shh! It wasn't your money.
00:13:43It was Rocky's money. You cost us everything.
00:13:46That's what I need. It was a mistake.
00:13:48You think I thought this all was gonna happen?
00:13:50Don't you walk away from me!
00:13:52You just gave up our life!
00:13:55And you think it's like some stupid thing?
00:13:57Pauly! Pauly, do you know what you did?
00:14:00Do you know the seriousness of what you did?
00:14:02I understand it! Do you? Then answer me!
00:14:04I understand the whole freaking thing, huh?
00:14:06I understand it!
00:14:08You're the accountant, the crook, not me!
00:14:10I did what I thought was right!
00:14:12I said, don't blame me for nothing!
00:14:14I want a murder that's far worse than anybody!
00:14:16Adrian, what's wrong?
00:14:18Look what you've done now.
00:14:20She's dumping everything on you now.
00:14:22Come on, Pauly. Don't turn this around on me.
00:14:24Oh, come on. What'd you do, Pauly?
00:14:26He gave power, power of attorney to our accountant.
00:14:29Gave? I just didn't gave anything to nobody, huh?
00:14:32He sent a letter!
00:14:34He says we're gonna be in Russia for a couple of months,
00:14:36and I need Rocky to sign a tax extension!
00:14:39That extension, that wasn't power of attorney, Pauly!
00:14:42He's the thief!
00:14:44I need alcohol.
00:14:46On my eyes, I never stole a freaking dime!
00:14:49Adrian, what's happening here?
00:14:51Huh?
00:14:52What's going on?
00:14:54The money. The money.
00:14:56Everything. It's all gone.
00:14:58The piece of paper Pauly had you sign
00:15:00wasn't a request for an extension on your tax returns.
00:15:03It was a blanket power of attorney
00:15:05in favor of the accountant,
00:15:07who was involved in some very high-priced commercial real estate.
00:15:10He thought he could flip it quick, take his profit,
00:15:12have your money back before you knew it was gone.
00:15:14And unfortunately for you and everybody in this room,
00:15:17his deals fell through because the market dried up.
00:15:20And you lost millions.
00:15:22So what are you saying? There ain't nothing I can do about it.
00:15:24I'm doing plenty. I've filed eight criminal acts against him.
00:15:26But you've got tremendous debt payment on this property, Rocky.
00:15:29He didn't pay your tax returns in six years,
00:15:31and the mortgage on your house hasn't been paid in months!
00:15:34Wait. We didn't have a mortgage. Our house was fully paid for.
00:15:37Don't take it from me. Ask him.
00:15:39Apparently not. There's nearly $400,000 still outstanding.
00:15:42The only thing you have that's not encumbered
00:15:44is a gymnasium that was willed to your son
00:15:46by a Mickey Goldmill in 1982.
00:15:49You can sell some things. Remember those commercials?
00:15:52You know, boss, I ain't no commercial kind of guy.
00:15:54I'm a fighter. It's what I do for a living.
00:15:56Nah, it's just as well we couldn't get any sponsors.
00:15:59With the investigation of the accountant,
00:16:01out pops a criminal record of Rocky's
00:16:03for assault in connection with loan shark.
00:16:05But there was... It was a long time ago.
00:16:07Why not a couple of more fights?
00:16:09With your popularity right now,
00:16:11he could be out of this thing in no time.
00:16:13He's retiring. Rocco, fight him for the ticket.
00:16:15I said he's retired!
00:16:17Paulie, we're here because of you!
00:16:19I'm not taking the heat for all this.
00:16:21I thought I was doing smart business.
00:16:23You thought you did smart business?
00:16:25Hey, you! Me!
00:16:27What are you talking about? It was your choice!
00:16:29My choice! You should have known he was a thief,
00:16:31but you're now awake because you live in this fairytale world
00:16:33where the air don't move! Oh, Paulie, no!
00:16:35You're like a season that don't change!
00:16:37Hey, you don't talk to her like this.
00:16:39Listen, you call Duke.
00:16:41You tell him my fight came,
00:16:43and I don't care, anywhere, anytime.
00:16:45If that's what you want, I'll get on it right away!
00:16:47No! Rocky, Rocky, please!
00:16:49We can't go down like this. A couple of fights will add to trouble.
00:16:51Yeah, but you said you wouldn't.
00:16:53I didn't say anything. Look, did we come this far to lose it?
00:16:55Well, you know you have to see a doctor.
00:16:57I don't need to see no doctor.
00:16:59I need to get a promotion, okay?
00:17:01If he says it's all right, I'll support anything you want to do.
00:17:03I gotta fight, okay? I got problems, I gotta fight.
00:17:05Will you do it for me?
00:17:09I'll do it for you.
00:17:13Because of the continuous violent blows to the head,
00:17:15you've developed a condition
00:17:17particular to boxes called cavum septum folliculum,
00:17:19which is a hole in the membrane
00:17:21separating the ventricles.
00:17:23The brain surface neurons in this area
00:17:25have also been traumatized.
00:17:27Excuse me, doctor.
00:17:29Simply stated, Mr. Balboa,
00:17:31it means that you've suffered some damage to the brain.
00:17:33How long until he recovers?
00:17:35The effects are irreversible.
00:17:37Oh.
00:17:39Rocky, you have to retire.
00:17:41I don't want to retire, you know?
00:17:43This ain't the time to retire.
00:17:45Not in here, not in the office.
00:17:47Look, I just fought the best fight of my life.
00:17:49I just did that, you know?
00:17:51And all I need is a couple more.
00:17:55No, Rocky, you suffered severe brain trauma.
00:17:57Well, he could be wrong. Anybody could be wrong.
00:17:59I don't think he is.
00:18:01Well, he ain't God. Look, Agent, only God ain't wrong.
00:18:03Hey, Rocky, this is what's good for you.
00:18:05I mean, there's a couple easier ones, right?
00:18:07Not with the way it is.
00:18:09You can't get licensed in any state.
00:18:11He can't get licensed anyway, doctor.
00:18:13That is correct.
00:18:15Rocky, do you love me?
00:18:17I love you?
00:18:19Why do you ask that?
00:18:21Because if you love somebody,
00:18:23you live with them, you live for them.
00:18:25You don't gamble with a life.
00:18:27Rocky, I don't care about the money.
00:18:29It's you.
00:18:31That's all that matters.
00:18:33Please.
00:18:35We'll be okay.
00:18:37We'll be fine.
00:18:47Uh...
00:18:49No one has to know, doctor, right?
00:18:51It'll be strictly confidential.
00:18:57Thank you.
00:19:03Thank you.
00:19:25May we hear our next bid, please?
00:19:27Are you done?
00:19:29Sold.
00:19:31Hey, kid,
00:19:33the bike's been sold.
00:19:35Hey, the bike's been sold.
00:19:37Get off the bike. Come on.
00:19:47Don't worry about it.
00:19:49We've been down before.
00:19:51I'll get it all back.
00:19:53We just got to stick together, right?
00:19:55Home team.
00:19:57Yeah, right.
00:19:59Come on.
00:20:01You know, Mickey used to say a fight ain't over
00:20:03until you heard the bell.
00:20:05We ain't heard the bell yet, have we?
00:20:07Boxing gloves...
00:20:27Rocky?
00:20:31Hey, it still fits.
00:20:33What?
00:20:35Why are you wearing those clothes?
00:20:37I was just going through
00:20:39some of the stuff up there,
00:20:41and I found them, and they feel kind of comfortable.
00:20:43Well, I was looking all over
00:20:45for you downstairs.
00:20:47It's kind of depressing.
00:20:49Yeah, I know what you mean.
00:20:51Oh, what's this doing in your ear?
00:20:53What?
00:20:55Oh, God.
00:20:57Yeah.
00:20:59You, uh...
00:21:01I remember when you took him off.
00:21:03That's right. First time I ever kissed you, remember?
00:21:05I kissed you.
00:21:09Hey, you and I,
00:21:11I want to go out for a little bit,
00:21:13you know, just take a little walk.
00:21:15This is how I'm going to feel better.
00:21:17Hey, could you talk to the kid,
00:21:19because he's really taking this hard.
00:21:21Sure.
00:21:23Okay?
00:21:25Where are you going?
00:21:27I thought I'd go to Andy's.
00:21:31How do they blow it all?
00:22:01How you doing, Mick?
00:22:31Come on.
00:23:01Come on.
00:23:25Slip the chair.
00:23:27Slip the chair.
00:23:29Slip the jab.
00:23:31Slip the jab.
00:23:35That's right.
00:23:37That's it.
00:23:39Hey, I didn't hear no bell.
00:23:41Okay.
00:23:43All right, that's right.
00:23:45Slip the jab.
00:23:47That's it. Mentalize.
00:23:49See that bum in front of you.
00:23:51You see yourself doing right,
00:23:53and you do right.
00:23:55That's pretty. That's very pretty.
00:23:57Time!
00:23:59Ah, come here, Rock.
00:24:01My God, you're ready, ain't you?
00:24:03That Apollo won't know what hit him.
00:24:05You're going to roll over him like a bulldozer,
00:24:07an Italian bulldozer.
00:24:09You know, kid, I know how you feel
00:24:11about this fight that's coming up,
00:24:13because I was young once, too.
00:24:15And I'll tell you something.
00:24:19Well, if you wasn't here,
00:24:21I probably wouldn't be alive today.
00:24:23The fact that you're here
00:24:25and doing as well as you're doing
00:24:27gives me, what do you call it,
00:24:29a motivation, huh?
00:24:31To stay alive.
00:24:33Because I think that people die sometimes
00:24:35when they don't want to live no more.
00:24:37Nature's smarter than people think.
00:24:39And nature is smarter than people think.
00:24:41Little by little,
00:24:43we lose our friends,
00:24:45we lose everything.
00:24:47We keep losing and losing
00:24:49until we say, you know,
00:24:51what the hell am I living around here for?
00:24:53I got no reason to go on.
00:24:55But with you, kid,
00:24:59boy, I got a reason to go on.
00:25:01And I'm going to stay alive.
00:25:03And I will watch you make good.
00:25:05And I'll never leave you.
00:25:07And I'll never leave you
00:25:09until that happens.
00:25:11Because when I leave you,
00:25:13you'll not only know how to fight,
00:25:15you'll be able to take care of yourself
00:25:17outside the ring, too.
00:25:19Is that okay?
00:25:21It's okay.
00:25:23Okay.
00:25:25Now I got a little gift for you.
00:25:27Wait a minute.
00:25:29Look at this.
00:25:31See that?
00:25:33This is the favorite thing
00:25:35that I have on this earth.
00:25:37And Rocky Marciano gave me that.
00:25:39You know what it was?
00:25:41His cuff link.
00:25:43And now I'm giving it to you.
00:25:45I'm giving it to you.
00:25:47And it's got to be like, uh...
00:25:49like an angel
00:25:51on your shoulder, see?
00:25:53And if you ever get hurt
00:25:55and you feel
00:25:57that you're going down,
00:25:59this little angel
00:26:01is going to whisper in your ear.
00:26:03He's going to say,
00:26:05get up, you son of a bitch!
00:26:07Because Mickey loves you.
00:26:09Okay?
00:26:11Thanks, Mick.
00:26:13All right.
00:26:15I love you, too.
00:26:17Go after him, kid.
00:26:19Go after him.
00:26:25You were the angel.
00:26:27There it is.
00:26:29What happened to his other cuff link?
00:26:31I don't know.
00:26:33He only gave me one.
00:26:35He gave it to some bum.
00:26:43Who's that?
00:26:55Who's that?
00:26:57Who, who, who, who,
00:26:59whoo-ah, ah!
00:27:01Who's that?
00:27:03Who, who, who, who,
00:27:05whoo-ah, ah!
00:27:07From the streets
00:27:09cometh a man a-fightin',
00:27:11The Lord is my witness, many believe in what they see
00:27:14And I wonder, what do they see in me for a man?
00:27:18He must walk alone to grow, and to bring his knowledge home
00:27:21The school of hard knocks is my alma mater
00:27:24Lady Luck, you know that
00:27:26The fame and fortune never...
00:27:28Don't worry about these, all right? Let's go for it.
00:27:32I really can't believe it. This kid's taking this too good.
00:27:35Hey, Rock. Hey, Rock. It's good I kept the place, right?
00:27:39It sells money. Get back.
00:27:42Right?
00:27:44Look at them on the front there. It's a winner.
00:27:53Welcome back, Rocky. We missed you.
00:27:58It's only temporary, man.
00:28:01Hang on inside.
00:28:10Hello?
00:28:11Mrs. Balboa? George Washington, Duke here.
00:28:14Yes?
00:28:15Mrs. Balboa, can you hear it?
00:28:17Listen close. You must be able to hear it.
00:28:20Hear what?
00:28:21The sound of the parade going by, of opportunity knocking.
00:28:25I mean, what's it gonna take to get you people to realize
00:28:28I'm giving you a chance to pull yourselves together again?
00:28:31Let me handle your husband's career, and the money will pour in.
00:28:34You can start living like human beings again.
00:28:37Listen, Mr. Duke, we're living like human beings.
00:28:39You ought to try it sometime.
00:28:42And leave my husband alone.
00:28:48Women.
00:28:56When did you start that?
00:28:58I don't know. It was like a bad habit to come back with.
00:29:01Hey, listen. We ain't talking about me.
00:29:04We're talking about you, right?
00:29:06Hey, Rocky, how you doing, man?
00:29:08How you doing?
00:29:09Good to see you back in the neighborhood.
00:29:11Hey, thank you. Great to be back.
00:29:13You know, you're real smart in school,
00:29:15but you gotta be smart on the street, too, see?
00:29:17How do you mean?
00:29:18Well, you gotta know who the players are
00:29:20and, like, who you're talking to, man.
00:29:22Watch out for the scammers. Everybody's gonna try to scam.
00:29:24What's a scam?
00:29:25Ask your father.
00:29:26Well, a scam is like a hustle.
00:29:28You don't get it.
00:29:29Well, you know, like a hustle related to...
00:29:31Rocky?
00:29:32Yeah?
00:29:33Rocky, remember me? I'm Baba's mother.
00:29:35Oh, yeah.
00:29:36You used to use his head for a punch in bag.
00:29:38Yeah, he had a nice head.
00:29:39Welcome back.
00:29:41Anyway, like a hustle related to a con, you know?
00:29:44You don't get it.
00:29:45A deception.
00:29:46Excuse me, ma'am?
00:29:47You're saying beware of deceptions.
00:29:48Yeah, that's good. Absolutely.
00:29:50You're very smart, you know?
00:29:52Hey, ain't this where the atomic hoagie shop used to be?
00:29:56I'm new here, Dad.
00:29:58Oh, this neighborhood's coming down with tooth decay.
00:30:01It's called Urban Blight.
00:30:03Yeah?
00:30:04I'll tell you something, this place is blighting everywhere, you know?
00:30:08I think a little aluminum side with some paint, this place could be okay again.
00:30:11What do you think?
00:30:12I don't know. Anyway, we're gonna be late for school. Come on.
00:30:14Hey, Pauly.
00:30:15I want to talk to the kid privately, like, you know, man to smaller man.
00:30:18All right?
00:30:19Look, I got no feelings.
00:30:20Come on, Pauly.
00:30:21That's how wars start.
00:30:22Relax.
00:30:23So anyway, you know, everybody's got an angle, you know?
00:30:26Yo, don't freak, Rocky.
00:30:27Yeah, everybody's got a hustle, you know?
00:30:29See, like, these kids around here, they got street brains, you see?
00:30:32That's how they live.
00:30:33These kids ain't like, listen to me,
00:30:35they ain't like no personalities that you grew up with.
00:30:38So you got to stay very, very sharp around here.
00:30:40I intend to.
00:30:42You know, sometimes you make me feel very stupid.
00:30:46Why?
00:30:47Why?
00:30:48Because you're smarter than me, and that's a fact.
00:30:50No, I'm not.
00:30:51Yeah, you are.
00:30:52It's like every day you learn something new,
00:30:54and every day I forget something new.
00:30:56But, hey, listen, listen to me.
00:30:58We're in this thing together,
00:30:59so if you can figure out any way on how to fix things up,
00:31:02don't be afraid to tell me, because we got to stick together,
00:31:04because what are we?
00:31:06What?
00:31:08What are we?
00:31:10Oh, oh, home team.
00:31:11Home team!
00:31:12You know, you got that right.
00:31:13You know, I used to go to this school when I was a kid,
00:31:15you know, nice grits.
00:31:16Used to have good milk at lunch, you know what I mean?
00:31:18It was real tough then, but I think you can handle it,
00:31:21don't you think?
00:31:22You're gonna win!
00:31:23You're gonna lose!
00:31:24You don't even know what you're talking about!
00:31:25If you want here, I can go here.
00:31:28I'm not scared, really.
00:31:30Really?
00:31:32Well, I guess I'm a little scared,
00:31:35but that's normal, don't you think?
00:31:37Oh, yeah, you know, I had 72 fights coming up,
00:31:39and every one of them I was scared, so, yeah, you know,
00:31:42that's, that's real, real annoying.
00:31:47I'll see you later.
00:31:48Okay, kid.
00:31:49Here's the front door.
00:31:52Okay.
00:31:53Hey, wait, what's this?
00:31:54What's this?
00:31:56Goodness gracious, where'd this come from?
00:31:59It's a strange place to stash your lunch money,
00:32:01don't you think?
00:32:02It's just a lunch joke, you know?
00:32:04Thanks, Dad.
00:32:05Okay, listen, I'll see you later.
00:32:08Remember, Daddy loves you, you're number one.
00:32:10Home team, just be nice, right?
00:32:13You'll be okay.
00:32:15And don't mess with nobody's girlfriend.
00:32:18They don't like that around here.
00:32:25You know, Paula, I'm really worried about the kid.
00:32:27You know, he ain't used to living like this.
00:32:29He don't know the streets or nothing.
00:32:31And at school, I know exactly what's going to happen.
00:32:34Some wise guy's going to come up to him,
00:32:36because he's my kid.
00:32:37He's just going to come out and try to bang him out,
00:32:39give him a chief shot, you know?
00:32:41I mean, geez.
00:32:42Mr. Raboa?
00:32:43Yeah?
00:32:44How you doing?
00:32:45My name's Tommy Gunn.
00:32:46Yeah, how you doing?
00:32:47With a name like that, you better be tough.
00:32:49Yeah, very true.
00:32:50It ain't easy.
00:32:51Anyway, I come from Oklahoma.
00:32:52I have an amateur's record of 45 and 1.
00:32:54And I turned pro at 18, and I had 8 fights.
00:32:56You a fighter?
00:32:57Yeah, I'm a fighter.
00:32:58And now that I'm 20, I'd just like to show you what I got.
00:33:01I mean, I've saved up about 400 bucks.
00:33:03Mr. Raboa, Rocky Balboa.
00:33:05What?
00:33:06Excuse me, young man.
00:33:07I have some business here.
00:33:08Thank you.
00:33:09Good to see you again, friend.
00:33:10How you doing?
00:33:11My health is fine.
00:33:12What more could a man ask for?
00:33:13Money in the air.
00:33:14Listen, I got to go to work now.
00:33:15What?
00:33:16Where?
00:33:17Here?
00:33:18In a sweat box?
00:33:19Can't be too good for the image.
00:33:20What are you going to do?
00:33:21What did you say?
00:33:22Urban light.
00:33:23It's blight.
00:33:24Urban blight.
00:33:25Rock, George would like you to consider
00:33:26putting on those damn gloves again.
00:33:27It's a hell of a payday.
00:33:28Well, you know I'm officially expired.
00:33:30No, you do have marquee value.
00:33:31You put butts in the buckets, asses in the seats.
00:33:33A businessman with any sort of brain
00:33:35don't retire when he can still pull in the bread, baby.
00:33:37Because only in America do we get these kind of opportunities.
00:33:39Union Cain's going for the title on the 14th.
00:33:41Uh-huh.
00:33:42Here, here's some tickets.
00:33:43Be our guests.
00:33:44We have a strong feeling about this one.
00:33:45I think he's going to take it.
00:33:46That's the time to challenge him.
00:33:47Because people love comebacks.
00:33:49And there's nothing in the boxing business more commercial
00:33:51than a long shot comeback of a down-on-his-luck
00:33:54pure snow white underdog.
00:33:55Now, like your Mark Twain once said,
00:33:57virtue has never been as respectable as money.
00:33:59Who's Twain?
00:34:00He was a painter.
00:34:01Look, simply put, you're the great white hope.
00:34:03You mean great white dog.
00:34:05No, forget it.
00:34:06No, no, right, right.
00:34:07Hey, hold it, hold it.
00:34:08Hold the bullshit.
00:34:09I know what the problem is.
00:34:10You think I was born yesterday?
00:34:11Merlin, show him the paper.
00:34:12Now, this is your medical report.
00:34:14It's not so good, but we can work around it.
00:34:16Where'd you get this?
00:34:17It really doesn't matter.
00:34:18You agree to fight Cain in Georgia
00:34:20and guarantee you get license in any country around the world.
00:34:22Guaranteed.
00:34:23You can do this?
00:34:24No problem.
00:34:25This comeback's in the bag and worth millions.
00:34:27The time is hot.
00:34:28The deal is hot.
00:34:29Caliente.
00:34:30We could use one more paper.
00:34:31I agree.
00:34:32Hey, where'd you come from?
00:34:33Oh, Mrs. Balboa just appeared.
00:34:35This woman is magic.
00:34:36Look, I don't think you're very funny.
00:34:38Are you trying to talk my husband into fighting again?
00:34:40Talk in business now, darling.
00:34:41Do you like feeling harder?
00:34:43Do you like reaching in your pocket
00:34:45and only feeling your leg?
00:34:46Well, do you?
00:34:47I didn't think so.
00:34:48I'm offering you your last golden opportunity
00:34:50to dump this loser image.
00:34:52Who are you talking to?
00:34:53Adrian, you ain't working across the nation.
00:34:55Hey, whoa, whoa.
00:34:56What the hell are you two people talking about, huh?
00:34:58This is a tremendous opportunity.
00:34:59Opportunity for who?
00:35:01For you to make money?
00:35:02For him to be disabled?
00:35:03What would you do if the choices were reversed?
00:35:06You have to think about that.
00:35:08Rocky, they don't care about you.
00:35:11You want to get serious?
00:35:13Let's get serious.
00:35:14You represent the dreams of the long shots,
00:35:16the little people,
00:35:17the never-wills that identify with you.
00:35:18And identification's the key to public success.
00:35:20You're a true champion,
00:35:21a true product to the people.
00:35:23Don't sell it.
00:35:24Sell it while they're still buyers.
00:35:25They ain't gonna last forever.
00:35:26You say you're fighting, then fight!
00:35:28You say you want a champion?
00:35:29Then do it, and I'll make you so much money
00:35:31you can swim in it!
00:35:32You can swim, can't you, darling?
00:35:34What are you saying?
00:35:35Come on, put it there.
00:35:36It's time to put some hustle behind this muscle.
00:35:38He's done!
00:35:39He's done fighting!
00:35:47You a damn fool.
00:35:51Maybe we ought to sign Mrs. Balboa to fight Cain, huh?
00:35:54Looks like she's the one with the cojones in the family.
00:36:00Yo, you don't talk like that in front of my wife, you know?
00:36:03There ain't no park bench, boy.
00:36:09I'll get him.
00:36:10Rocky, I'm really sorry.
00:36:12I didn't want to...
00:36:13Oh, you guys want privacy now?
00:36:15I'll see you upstairs.
00:36:20Rocky.
00:36:22Rocky, I'm sorry, I...
00:36:24But you know, it just takes one bad hit
00:36:27and you could be an invalid.

00:36:37You know, she could use some part-time help.
00:36:39Yeah, but why'd you wanna do this, Angie?
00:36:41Why'd you wanna go back to the same place you started from?
00:36:43I gotta do it, but you don't gotta do it.
00:36:45I wanted to be there, so I could be close to you.

00:41:29I don't think you listen to good.
00:41:30But you, you fight and you brawl like you was a street fighter, and I know something

00:42:59No, thanks.
00:43:01Where's your boyfriend?
00:43:03Him? Forget it. He ain't got no manners.
00:43:07I'm Jewel, if you want to know.
00:43:11I'm Robert.
00:43:15Hi.
00:43:17I've been living here about six years now.
00:43:21It ain't Disneyland.
00:43:23You been to Disneyland?
00:43:25Sure.
00:43:27You make it sound like everybody has.
00:43:29I know you can't tell by the way I look,
00:43:32but I ain't like the other kids around here.
00:43:35Why? I mean, what makes you so different?
00:43:38I don't know. I guess it's because I want to get out.
00:43:41You know how it is.
00:43:43You know, for an Italian kid,
00:43:46you ain't got a bad butt.
00:43:57First money I get, I'm going to Miami.
00:44:00Why Miami?
00:44:02Miami needs new gigolos.
00:44:04Yeah, I read something like that.
00:44:06Ow!
00:44:08My back is getting bad.
00:44:10How come you don't have arthritis?
00:44:12Ain't I got enough?
00:44:15Adrian's too good for this.
00:44:18This place is really depressive.
00:44:21Rock, come inside. Everybody's been asking for you.
00:44:23You too, Pauly.
00:44:25I'm a little big. I'm a little thirsty.
00:44:27You go if you want to, Pauly.
00:44:29Mr. Balboa, look at this.
00:44:31Why are you still hanging around?
00:44:33Is there something I can do for you?
00:44:35Yeah. I'd like to try again.
00:44:38Hey, kid, you know, I'd like to help you out,
00:44:40but I really don't know nothing about no managing.
00:44:42All I'm asking for is a chance.
00:44:44If I screw up or do something you don't like,
00:44:46you don't have to throw me out. I'll leave.
00:44:48What have you got to lose?
00:44:50Me? Nothing. It's what you got to lose.
00:44:52I got nothing to lose.
00:44:54Maybe you do.
00:44:56What if I don't do good and you don't make it?
00:44:58I don't want you blaming me for this, kid.
00:45:01Here's what I would do if I was you.
00:45:03Listen to me. If I was you, here's what I would do.
00:45:06You go home, and I talk to your family people,
00:45:08and maybe you can come up with something better.
00:45:10I got no family people.
00:45:12All I got is what you see here.
00:45:14I know everything about you from back when you had your first fight with Apollo Creed.
00:45:17Yeah. I read how nobody cared about you,
00:45:19how no one ever gave you a chance.
00:45:21I realize I don't come from the same streets as you do,
00:45:23but I'm hungry, like you were.
00:45:25Ever since I put on gloves, I've been waiting to meet you,
00:45:27because I knew that if anybody could make me a winner,
00:45:29it was you.
00:45:31Winner. Hey, Pauly,
00:45:33you see a winner standing there?
00:45:35Look at this. Man, you beat the best.
00:45:37Nobody could ever say any different.
00:45:39Look, Rock, you don't know me,
00:45:41but anything you want me to do, I'll do.
00:45:43And if I can't, I'll bust my butt trying.
00:45:45Man, I'm not hustling you, man.
00:45:47All I'm asking for is a chance.
00:45:49Just one shot.
00:46:01Are you hungry?
00:46:05Yeah.
00:46:07Yeah?
00:46:09Come on.
00:46:11You're really gonna like the way Adrienne cooks.
00:46:13She does amazing things with macaroni,
00:46:15especially tomatoes,
00:46:17but I gotta warn you,
00:46:19she can be a little vicious with the garlic.
00:46:23So why'd this kid smack your face for, huh?
00:46:25It really doesn't matter, Dad.
00:46:27It does matter.
00:46:29They took his coat.
00:46:31I don't want the coat.
00:46:33I'm gonna go to your school tomorrow and just...
00:46:35Look, you only make things worse if you go.
00:46:37Can't I do what I think is right?
00:46:39Well, you know what you think is right?
00:46:41A baseball bat across the face and you're Pauly.
00:46:43What are you talking about?
00:46:45You know, I had trouble like that one time
00:46:47when I was in school.
00:46:49It seemed like every day I got chased by this one kid
00:46:51till one day my mother said to me,
00:46:53just pretend the guy's like a balloon.
00:46:55A balloon?
00:46:57She said if you pop him hard,
00:46:59these guys just go away.
00:47:01Look, kid, we're trying to raise our son
00:47:03so he can handle his problems with his mind,
00:47:05not his muscles.
00:47:07Sorry.
00:47:09That's why I'm gonna get mangled.
00:47:11No, you ain't gonna get mangled.
00:47:13Dad, will you teach me how to fight?
00:47:15A baseball bat would be nice.
00:47:17Come on, do you want to grow up and just use your fists?
00:47:19Well, I don't think it'd be so bad
00:47:21if I taught him how to throw a few...
00:47:23deadly punches, you know.
00:47:25Tommy, did your dad teach you to fight?
00:47:27Uh, no, not exactly.
00:47:29What? Come on, sweetheart, don't get personal.
00:47:31No, it's okay.
00:47:33See, my old man, he used to drink a lot, seriously.
00:47:35He'd go out with his friends and tie one on.
00:47:37Then he'd come home and look to punch on me.
00:47:39You know, he'd punch on my mother, too.
00:47:41He did that a lot of times.
00:47:43You know, so growing up, I never really thought
00:47:45about fighting anybody but my father.
00:47:47You know, when I was 13, I got in trouble at school.
00:47:49He tied me down,
00:47:51and he whipped me so bad,
00:47:53I couldn't walk for a week.
00:47:55She couldn't do anything.
00:47:57I'll tell you, the first guy I ever knocked out was my father.
00:47:59Now, when I get in the ring,
00:48:01it's like all I see is him.
00:48:03It's kind of sick, huh?
00:48:05Hey, old Tommy,
00:48:07at least you had an old man to knock out, you know?
00:48:11Yeah.
00:48:15Oh, didn't even have that, you know.
00:48:17Yeah, someday you can punch out your pop.
00:48:19Hey, Paulie, what are you telling the kid
00:48:21things ain't just what's about?
00:48:23It's the shittest of the survival.
00:48:25Hey, Tommy, where are you staying tonight?
00:48:27You got a place.
00:48:29Oh, I'll, uh, I'll find someplace to stay.
00:48:31No, I tell you, we got room down in the basement.
00:48:33It's not, you know, it's nice. I don't know.
00:48:35What about me?
00:48:37Sweetheart, your son is sleeping down there.
00:48:39No, well, he can stay with his uncle, right?
00:48:41No, am I fixed up?
00:48:43Hey, I don't want to cause any problems.
00:48:45I can find someplace to stay.
00:48:47No, it's okay, you know.
00:48:49It's just for a little while, you know.
00:48:51Right? No problem at all.
00:48:53It's cold outside.
00:48:55Hey, I'm not changing no sheets.
00:48:57Hey, since when have you ever?
00:48:59Hey, Tommy, why don't you come on down
00:49:01and we'll show you the whole place.
00:49:03Sweetheart, why don't you go downstairs,
00:49:05show your father what you did today?
00:49:07Come on.
00:49:11Hey, Junior,
00:49:13your plumbing don't leak, do it?
00:49:15You know this guy?
00:49:17Yeah, he hits hard.
00:49:21You know, Adrian, she can really cook.
00:49:23Yeah, she's okay.
00:49:25Listen, Tommy, we ain't had a chance
00:49:27to get this place tonight,
00:49:29so we'll get it together in a while.
00:49:31Oh, wow, man, this is what it's all about.
00:49:35Oh, man.
00:49:37Why do you keep this stuff down here?
00:49:39Well, you know, I just...
00:49:41When did you get it down here?
00:49:43Yeah, you know, I just...
00:49:45When did you get a chance to do this?
00:49:47You took everything out of a box and fixed this up.
00:49:49This is beautiful, and you painted.
00:49:51When did you get a chance to do this, kid?
00:49:53After school. Snoopy did.
00:49:55If you don't mind me asking, where'd you get the glove?
00:49:57Oh, this? Yeah.
00:49:59Thanks. This is one of my favorite objects.
00:50:01Mickey gave me this before he departed.
00:50:03It was Rocky Marciano's cufflink that we had fixed.
00:50:05Really? Yeah.
00:50:07The real Rocky Marciano?
00:50:09Yeah. You know, you got me thinking about Mickey.
00:50:11He told me a long time ago.
00:50:13He says that, uh,
00:50:15fighting is like 90% in the skull
00:50:17and 10% in the body.
00:50:19This is what he says to me.
00:50:21Hey, Dad, I met this really nice girl today.
00:50:23She's great. Oh, yeah, really?
00:50:25She's wonderful. Yeah, she's a lot better than Sarah.
00:50:27Don't change the station.
00:50:29I'll be right back with you.
00:50:31I just want to tell Tommy a few things.
00:50:33Hey, who's your best friend back in Orlando?
00:50:35Oh, that's, uh...
00:50:37That's Oklahoma.
00:50:39Oh, yeah. Um, Eric Elder.
00:50:41No, no, no, no, no, no.
00:50:43Your best friend is a guy named Frankie Fear.
00:50:45You see, Fear is a fighter's best friend.
00:50:47You know, it ain't nothing to be ashamed of.
00:50:49You see, Fear keeps you sharp.
00:50:51It keeps you awake.
00:50:53You know, it makes you want to survive.
00:50:55You know what I mean?
00:50:57But the thing is, you got to learn how to control it, all right?
00:50:59Because Fear is like this fire, all right?
00:51:01And it's burning deep inside.
00:51:03Now, if you control it, Tommy,
00:51:05it's gonna make you hot.
00:51:07But if you don't control you,
00:51:09it's gonna burn you and everything else around you up.
00:51:11That's right, you know?
00:51:13Anyway, these are the things it was taught to me,
00:51:15and if you want, I'd like to teach to you.
00:51:19Does this, uh...
00:51:21Does this mean you're gonna manage me?
00:51:23Absolutely. Hey, home team.
00:51:25All right! Let's go for it.
00:51:27Hey, Rock, as long as we're down here,
00:51:29do you mind showing me a few things?
00:51:31Sure, Tommy, I'm gonna show you a lot of things.
00:51:33Hey, rich boy,
00:51:35how much you got in your pocket tonight?
00:51:37Nothing. Come on, let's have it.
00:51:39Nothing, I got nothing.
00:51:41Come on, give me the money.
00:51:43Come on!
00:51:45Hey, I gotta eat.
00:51:47He's hungry, he's gotta eat.
00:51:49We'll eat this.
00:51:53I got it, I got it, go.
00:51:55Father Camel!
00:51:57Yo!
00:51:59Father Camel!
00:52:01You know, maybe it's not home.
00:52:03No, priest is always home.
00:52:05Oh, Rocky!
00:52:07Yo!
00:52:09Oh, well, I didn't want to disturb you that much, Father.
00:52:15Oh, excellent! Everything is perfect, you know?
00:52:17Father, this is my new friend, Tommy Gunn.
00:52:25Well, I was wondering, you know, Tommy here is a fighter,
00:52:27and I was supposed to be his manager, you know?
00:52:29So I was wondering if you could do me a favor,
00:52:31you know, if he ain't that busy,
00:52:33if you could throw us down a couple blessings, you know,
00:52:35like one, that I don't mess up being a manager,
00:52:37and B, that Tommy does as good as I think he could do,
00:52:41you know, great, and don't get hurt none.
00:52:43Could you do that?
00:52:53Hey, thanks, Father, I really appreciate this.
00:52:56Okay, I'll see you in church.
00:53:01Okay. Hey, man, what did you do this for?
00:53:03Don't hurt having an angel in your corner, you know?
00:53:05Come on.
00:53:11Hey, Rock, how's it going?
00:53:13Doing great, guys.
00:53:15Slow down, we're going to give you a ticket.
00:53:17This is Tommy Gunn. He's going to be chipped, guys.
00:53:19How you doing, Tom?
00:53:25Boom!
00:53:45Get off the ropes!
00:53:47Boom!
00:53:55This is too easy, all right?
00:53:57Man, I need more work. No, no, you're ready.
00:53:59No, I need more work. This guy's killing me.
00:54:01You're ready now. You're perfect.
00:54:03He's killing me! No, you're perfect.
00:54:05You understand me? I feel weak.
00:54:07Listen to me. I feel weak. Shut up!
00:54:09The only difference between the hero and the coward
00:54:11is the hero is willing to go for it, all right?
00:54:13Willing to take the shot, okay?
00:54:15Now, this guy over here is scared, too.
00:54:17You're scared, he's scared, you're both scared.
00:54:19Remember in the basement, we was talking about fear
00:54:21and how it's like this fire, huh?
00:54:23Now, you got to burn him up, all right?
00:54:25Now, you got to make it work for you, Tommy, okay?
00:54:27I would never do nothing that would hurt you.
00:54:29You got to understand what I'm saying.
00:54:31Now, fear is like this fire, okay?
00:54:33Now, let it burn and burn until it becomes like this volcano.
00:54:35And when the time is right and you see the opening,
00:54:37explode all over the sky, okay?
00:54:39Now, you can take him, okay? It's all heart.
00:54:41You understand? It ain't all muscle.
00:54:43It's all heart. Heart and fire, heart and fire, okay?
00:54:45Now, you do it.
00:54:49Remember, I'm like this angel sitting on your shoulder, okay?
00:54:51You don't let nothing happen to you, okay?
00:54:53Go, you got it.
00:54:59Come on, Tommy, jump!
00:55:05Left, right!
00:55:09Good body, good body!
00:55:13All right!
00:55:21Go on with all you got, give it your best shot.
00:55:23Don't ever think about trying to stop.
00:55:25Keep reaching, pushing, hoping for perfection.
00:55:27Make up your direction.
00:55:29Don't ever stop for a moment, prove you want it.
00:55:31If you got it, flaunt it, and get up on it.
00:55:33Go for yours, not for a minute, but all the time.
00:55:35You better do it, because I'm going for mine.
00:55:41Heart and fire.
00:55:45I see it in your eyes.
00:55:47Heart and fire.
00:55:53You've got to go for the feeling.
00:55:55It's time for the rhyme of the bold and the gifted.
00:55:57Listen closely and you'll get lifted.
00:55:59Higher than you've ever been before.
00:56:01Getting more than your bargains, I'm for sure.
00:56:03Life can be a trip full of trouble,
00:56:05but you got to stand up and fight back.
00:56:07Don't let nothing hold you back.
00:56:09Yo, when life says stop, you say go, go.
00:56:11Go to the body, Tommy, come on!
00:56:13That's it.
00:56:15Go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
00:56:17That's it.

00:56:21Hey, Tommy, come on.
00:56:23You got some guns, don't you?
00:56:25Because I know you got the knack
00:56:27to go farther than you've ever been before.
00:56:29I'm going for mine, so go for yours.
00:56:33Heart and fire.
00:56:37I see it in your eyes.
00:56:41Drive through it.
00:56:43You got to go for the feeling.
00:56:49Come on, you can do it.
00:56:51That's it.
00:56:55I got it, come on, bring it in.

00:58:00You're very swift, Tommy Gunn.
00:58:12Listen, I got an idea.
00:58:15I think we can finally nail Balboa.
00:58:21They're waiting again.
00:58:23If you don't get enough money, I got almost a dollar.
00:58:25Save it.
00:58:26I'm gonna get him, Bimbo! Hey, Bank, what you got in him? Get him!
00:58:29Shut up.
00:58:30Hey, stop!
00:58:31Hey, two more steps and I'm gonna pound your teeth out!
00:58:34Go for it!

01:03:29Hey.
01:03:29Hey, buddy.
01:03:31The winner at 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
01:03:34When's Tommy going up against Union K?
01:03:36Uh, we've got to talk about this.
01:03:38Rocko, he ain't worth it, buddy.
01:03:40Nah, he fought a great fight, you know, Paulie.
01:03:42He's super sunk, Rocko.
01:03:44He's sunk.
01:03:45Huh?
01:04:02He probably got hung up in traffic.

01:04:05Why?
01:04:06Why?
01:04:07It's Christmas time.
01:04:08He should be here with his family, you know.
01:04:09Well, maybe he doesn't think this is his family.
01:04:11Sure it is.
01:04:12Oh, Adrian, look.
01:04:14Just look at this.
01:04:17I wanted to give this to him.
01:04:19What do you think?
01:04:21I think you've given enough.
01:04:23Hey, come on, Adrian.
01:04:24He's given us some things, too, you know.
01:04:26He's given us like a second shot, right?
01:04:28Come on.
01:04:29It's Christmas.
01:04:30Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
01:04:33Right.
01:04:34Only in America.
01:04:35Oh, having the best wearing the best.
01:04:37But to keep it up, you got to stay on top.
01:04:39Nobody remembers number two, kiddo.
01:04:42Tommy, check with the boxing commission.
01:04:45Seems there's no formal contract between you and Balboa.
01:04:49No, nothing.
01:04:50Just a handshake.
01:04:51Tommy, this is a complex business,
01:04:53and you've got to stay sharp.
01:04:55I don't have to tell you that, do I?
01:04:57Because it's got to be damn difficult,
01:04:59you living in Rocky's shadow, people calling you his puppet.
01:05:01I don't know anybody who could have done it as long as you have.
01:05:03Tommy, I'm afraid.
01:05:04I'm afraid that if you keep going the way you're going,
01:05:07you're going to be watching the parade go by.
01:05:10Exactly.
01:05:12Tommy, you haven't had the big payday yet,
01:05:14and you won't until you fight those top contenders,
01:05:17and those top contenders.
01:05:18Tommy, boy, I do surely own.
01:05:20I got the contracts.
01:05:22It's a complex business.
01:05:24But if you want the best, then go with the best.
01:05:28I mean, what about Rocky, though?
01:05:30Rocky can still train you.
01:05:31My God, he's done a wonderful job.
01:05:33Now, look here.
01:05:34Here's $20,000.
01:05:36Take it as an advance.
01:05:39Time to put some hustle behind this muscle.
01:05:42Merry Christmas.
01:05:44Merry Christmas.
01:05:45Yeah.
01:05:47Oh, Dr. Preston, how are you?
01:05:49I can't believe who just come up on the roof, will you?
01:05:52You know, he just landed there and crashed.
01:05:55Who do you think it is?
01:05:56Do I hear reindeer on my roof?
01:05:59You know, rantlers and unbelievers like a billion.
01:06:04Whoa!
01:06:05Come on.
01:06:06Look who's here.
01:06:07You know this guy.
01:06:08You got a weird family.
01:06:10Don't I know?
01:06:11It'll be next Christmas before he gets down.
01:06:13Hey, put it together for Santa.
01:06:16Hey.
01:06:17Merry Xmas.
01:06:18Yo, yo, yo.
01:06:19Hey, I don't think you got it right.
01:06:20Santa, no, no, no.
01:06:21It's ho, ho, ho.
01:06:23What's the freaking difference?
01:06:24Where I come from, it's yo, yo, yo.
01:06:26Oh, looks like we got a 90-proof Santa.
01:06:28Hey, Santa, tell all the kids what you got in the bag for them
01:06:33that you brought from the north.
01:06:35I got my laundry hat.
01:06:36No, you got the wrong bag.
01:06:38Come on, Cubby, get out of the way.
01:06:40Yeah, watch it.
01:06:41Let Santa take a seat.
01:06:42Come here, little boy.
01:06:43You been nice?
01:06:44Uncle Paulie.
01:06:45Come over here.
01:06:46Sit down.
01:06:47Hey, kid, why don't you tell Santa what you need, what you...
01:06:49He's stretching the clothes, man.
01:06:50I don't need nothing.
01:06:51Come on.
01:06:52Hey, kid, tell Santa what you really want.
01:06:54That ain't Santa.
01:06:55That's Uncle Paulie.
01:06:56Let's get real.
01:06:57What do you mean, get real?
01:06:58You know, why are you talking like that?
01:07:00We're just trying to have a good time
01:07:02when Santa's here and everything.
01:07:04It's stupid.
01:07:06Yo, you know, come on, it ain't stupid.
01:07:09We're just trying to pretend here.
01:07:11You see, you're supposed to be pretending.
01:07:13It's like this game, right, you know?
01:07:16I don't like pretending.
01:07:17Why don't you guys talk to Santa?
01:07:19Hey, yo, kid, I ain't talking to them.
01:07:21I'm talking with you here, you know.
01:07:23See, it's very important that you spend time
01:07:25with the family, you know, and have a good time
01:07:28and just get in the spirit going, you know.
01:07:30It's good, right?

01:08:01when we had a good time?
01:08:03It ain't last year, and you ain't the same either.
01:08:08What?
01:08:13Adrie, what'd I do?
01:08:16Go talk to him.
01:08:21Even I could have saw this thing happening.
01:08:23I should have went to Miami when I had the chance.
01:08:27You want to talk?
01:08:29Let's talk.
01:08:31You know, I thought we was supposed to be like,
01:08:35you know, be very close.
01:08:37Hey, come on, kid.
01:08:38I love you.
01:08:39No, you don't.
01:08:40Yes, I do.
01:08:41You know, do you remember what the deal was?
01:08:43We was supposed to be like tight, like cross fingers.
01:08:47No.
01:08:48No, what you want is you and Tommy be tight.
01:08:50That's you really talking about.
01:08:51Oh, don't say that.
01:08:52Why can't I say it?
01:08:53Since he's been here, it's Tommy this, Tommy that.
01:08:56You don't have no time for nobody,
01:08:57so I got no time for you.
01:08:59Hey, what are you saying to me, kid?
01:09:01You're like another person.
01:09:02You're the other person.
01:09:04You said I would be number one to you.
01:09:05You said that, and you lied.
01:09:07You lied to me, and you lied to Mom.
01:09:09I never lied to you.
01:09:11Tommy needed my help.
01:09:13So did I.
01:09:15And remember when you said to watch out
01:09:17for scams and deceptions?
01:09:19Yeah.
01:09:21You're the one that should have watched out.
01:09:31Where are you going?
01:09:32Out.
01:09:33When are you coming back?
01:09:34Later.
01:09:35Later?
01:09:36When?
01:09:42Season's greetings, Mrs. Bellboy.
01:09:45You take care of these people.
01:09:48Behold the Santa for all seasons.
01:09:53You guys lost?
01:09:55Au contrairement to me, I know exactly where I am.
01:10:00Yo, Rocco, guess what's coming to dinner.
01:10:03Tommy Gunn's got new friends.
01:10:05New friends for New Year.
01:10:12Nice tree.
01:10:13Charming.

01:10:17Merry Christmas, my lord.
01:10:19Greetings.
01:10:20Yeah, how you doing?
01:10:21Listen, I don't want to take up too much time.
01:10:24I just wanted to come by and give a little season's greetings.
01:10:26I don't need no presents.
01:10:27Give them to the neighbors.
01:10:28Look, you've done a hell of a job with the man.
01:10:30Facts are facts.
01:10:31I'd have to be blind if I didn't say
01:10:33a title shot isn't in the cards.
01:10:35Title shot?
01:10:36That's right, title shot.
01:10:37Now, we're going to work beautifully together.
01:10:38No problems.
01:10:40No friction.
01:10:42Only harmony, huh?
01:10:45It's time to put some hustle behind this muscle.
01:10:47Well, Tommy boy here's got a little something
01:10:49personal to discuss with you.
01:10:51So I'm going to be saying good night.
01:10:53Merry Christmas.
01:10:54Merry Christmas to you.
01:10:56See you soon, huh?
01:10:57Bye.
01:10:59Sorry I'm late.
01:11:00I ended up having dinner.
01:11:02Hey, it's OK, Tommy.
01:11:03You know, Adrian cooked something,
01:11:05but it's probably all cold.
01:11:06Now, all we can do is make sandwiches.
01:11:08It's just no big deal.
01:11:09Rocky, I want to make sandwiches.
01:11:11That's no big deal.
01:11:12Tommy, why did you bring him here?
01:11:14He just wanted to come by.
01:11:15Oh, Tommy.
01:11:16Rocky might have thought he'd talk to you
01:11:17outside about a few things.
01:11:19Oh, yeah, sure.
01:11:21It's getting late.
01:11:22We have to be there by 10.
01:11:23Rocky.
01:11:24I know.
01:11:25It's OK.
01:11:30Tommy, what did you want to talk to me about?
01:11:32Isn't it a long drive?
01:11:33Yeah.
01:11:34So, uh, what do you think?
01:11:37Well, where'd you get this from?
01:11:38Doug gave it to me.
01:11:39Tommy.
01:11:41Hey, you know, maybe you ought to give this thing back.
01:11:43You know, Tommy.
01:11:44I knew it.
01:11:45I knew you were going to say that.
01:11:46Give it back.
01:11:47Why?
01:11:48I mean, the guy likes the way I fight.
01:11:49It's almost 10.
01:11:50All right.
01:11:51We'll make it.
01:11:52I know, but you know, you see what he's doing here, Tommy.
01:11:54Hey, don't let him put nothing between us, OK?
01:11:57We've got something good going here.
01:11:58Put like what?
01:11:59I mean, the guy was just talking about getting a shot.
01:12:01Look, look.
01:12:02We don't need him.
01:12:03You know what I mean?
01:12:04I mean, you're going to get a shot.
01:12:05You're going to be able to buy 10 of these things here.
01:12:07Rock, when are you going to wake up, man?
01:12:09We're watching the parade go by.
01:12:11What?
01:12:12Love parade?
01:12:13What are you talking about?
01:12:14The parade.
01:12:15The big time.
01:12:16Man, the way I'm going, I'm not going
01:12:17to get a shot at the title for a long time.
01:12:18Listen, Tommy.
01:12:19Man, I've got a perfect record.
01:12:20I'm 22 and 0.
01:12:21Where's the money?
01:12:22Where?
01:12:23Man, we haven't made any serious money yet.
01:12:25And we won't without the man.
01:12:26I ain't talking about the money.
01:12:27Look, the money is going to be there.
01:12:29But I'm talking about your rep, Tommy.
01:12:31Don't sell out.
01:12:32We don't need this guy.
01:12:33Listen, Duke is a wonderful man.
01:12:35Put the top off.
01:12:36Hey, forget about the top, would you?
01:12:38I'm signing papers with the man tomorrow.
01:12:40Tommy, you signed them papers.
01:12:41You're like his property.
01:12:42So you got no control.
01:12:43You know, this is a dirty business.
01:12:45It's full of these thieves and gangsters.
01:12:47You know, and they promise every good young fighter
01:12:50who comes along, they promise them the world.
01:12:53And they suck them dry.
01:12:55And they leave them when they ain't worth nothing.
01:12:57They leave them in the gutter broke, Tommy.
01:12:58That's the way this business is run.
01:13:00Look, the guy's like Duke.
01:13:01You know what he is?
01:13:03He's a vampire.
01:13:04He's living off your blood, Tommy.
01:13:06You know, the thing I'm trying to do
01:13:08is what Mick done to me.
01:13:09He tried to keep me away from this,
01:13:11the dirty part of the business,
01:13:13the way I'm trying to do for you.
01:13:14Man, I ain't you, and you ain't Mick.
01:13:16Man, when are you gonna understand that?
01:13:18When are you gonna understand this is a business?
01:13:20In a business, you need...
01:13:21What, brains?
01:13:22You said that, not me.
01:13:23Is that what you're saying?
01:13:24You're saying I got no brains?
01:13:25Look, Rock, you took me as far as you could,
01:13:27but Duke gave me my title shot.
01:13:28You didn't.
01:13:29Man, if you want to keep training me, then do it.
01:13:30But if you don't, don't.
01:13:31But it's my way or it's the highway.
01:13:34Come on!
01:13:44Tommy!
01:13:46Put on your coat.
01:13:47Just put on your coat.
01:13:49Come on.
01:13:50It's not worth it.
01:13:51No, Adrian, it is worth it.
01:13:53He's just confused.
01:13:54You don't see what's happening anymore.
01:13:55Yeah, I do see.
01:13:56What are you...
01:13:57You twist around my Duke.
01:13:58I see what's happening.
01:13:59No, come on, it's you.
01:14:00It's you, it's not him.
01:14:01You can't live backwards.
01:14:02Come on, you can't turn back the clocks.
01:14:03We live now.
01:14:04We live here.
01:14:05Hey, Adrian, I know where we live.
01:14:06What, you think I'm stupid?
01:14:08I'm not as dumb as you think I am.
01:14:10You know, I got to look.
01:14:11You don't think I can smell it?
01:14:13I see where we are.
01:14:14Adrian, I don't want this no more.
01:14:16I want something good for the family.
01:14:17I don't want this.
01:14:19I don't want this.
01:14:20I mean, did I come back here and get my brains beat out
01:14:23for these guys to say, hey, there goes Balboa.
01:14:26That was just another bump in the neighborhood.
01:14:28I didn't want this.
01:14:30No, come on.
01:14:31Nobody says that.
01:14:33I'm saying it, Adrian.
01:14:34I'm saying this.
01:14:35I'm saying this.
01:14:37When Kim was in the ring, you know what I was doing?
01:14:39I was winning.
01:14:40When he was winning, I was winning.
01:14:41You were winning?
01:14:42Yeah, it was.
01:14:43It was like, it was my last chance
01:14:45at getting some respect for us.
01:14:47Do you know that?
01:14:48Come on, I respect you.
01:14:49I respect you.
01:14:50You can't respect me.
01:14:51I don't respect you.
01:14:52No, you can't do it.
01:14:53I don't.
01:14:54All those beatings you took in the ring,
01:14:56I took them with you.
01:14:58I know how you feel.
01:15:00I know when somebody like Tommy comes along, you feel alive.
01:15:04But he's not you.
01:15:05He doesn't have your heart.
01:15:07All those fighters you beat, you beat them with heart,
01:15:10not muscle.
01:15:11That's what Mickey knew.
01:15:13That's why you and Mickey were special.
01:15:15But Mickey's dead.
01:15:17If there's something you want to pass on,
01:15:19pass it on to your son.
01:15:21For God's sakes, your son is lost.
01:15:25He needs you.
01:15:27I know Tommy makes you feel great.
01:15:30He makes you feel like you're winning again.
01:15:33But you're losing us.
01:15:35Rocky, you're losing your family.
01:15:45I'm sorry.
01:15:48You know it was always you and me.
01:15:50It was always you and me.
01:15:53I'm sorry.
01:15:57I don't know about you guys,
01:16:00but I've got to get out of here.
01:16:04Hey, what do you say we go to the shore, huh?
01:16:06Yeah, let's go.
01:16:07Oh, yeah, great.
01:16:08How are we going to get there?
01:16:09How are we going to get there?
01:16:11We throw our thumbs in the air, we'll hitchhike.
01:16:13Hey, yo.
01:16:14What do you want?
01:16:16You want me to stay with you?
01:16:18No.
01:16:19You're right.
01:16:20You're right, I've got enough problems with my own man.
01:16:22Come on.
01:16:25You ain't going to hit him, are you?
01:16:27No, I ain't going to hit him.
01:16:31Yo, kid, when did you start smoking?
01:16:34I don't know.
01:16:35Didn't you ever smoke?
01:16:36Yeah, I've done a lot of bad things, you know.
01:16:40So?
01:16:43So I, you know, I wised up.
01:16:46Well, maybe I'll wise up someday, too.
01:16:51Maybe tonight's a good night for both of us
01:16:54to start just wising up, too.
01:16:57Hey, don't worry about it.
01:16:58I got to worry about it.
01:16:59I mean, the deal was we were supposed to be tight, right?
01:17:02What about Tommy?
01:17:03You tight with him, too, huh?
01:17:06Tommy.
01:17:12Yeah, well, that was yesterday, you know.
01:17:21You know, kid, you remember you were telling me
01:17:24a long time ago about deceptions
01:17:26and I was talking about the scams
01:17:28and I should have listened to you.
01:17:30I was trying to teach you, all right?
01:17:33But you, you were teaching me and I didn't wise up
01:17:36and I didn't know and I made mistakes
01:17:38and I, I do things, you know.
01:17:42It bothers me, you know.
01:17:44I forget a lot of things and I, I just...
01:17:51You know, I just...
01:18:00Hey, kid.
01:18:03I know I made a few mistakes, you know.
01:18:06And I would love to handle it with you again.
01:18:09Just you and me.
01:18:15I swear to God, it's just going to be you and me this time.
01:18:22Home team?
01:18:26Yeah, home team.
01:18:32Hey, kid, you want to hear a joke?
01:18:34Yeah, sure, Weinhardt.
01:18:36Knock, knock.
01:18:37Who's there?
01:18:39Tuna fish.
01:18:40Tuna fish, who?
01:18:42You can tune a piano, but you cannot tune a fish.
01:18:46Boy, you're getting better.
01:18:48Yeah, that's a good one.
01:18:56All right, folks, we'll lock the door and hide here.
01:18:59It's time to wage war.
01:19:03Tommy Gunn has been said to be such a student of Rocky Balboa's style,
01:19:06he's been nicknamed by the press the Clone Ranger.
01:19:09Get in the red corner.
01:19:11Relax, Rocco, he ain't worth the stress.
01:19:13Yeah, he ain't important.
01:19:16Turbo charge.
01:19:18Tommy the Machine Gunner.
01:19:27Boy, it looks like the fans are unhappy with Tommy Gunn
01:19:30for leaving Rocky Balboa behind.

01:20:01Rocco, he ain't good.
01:20:02He never was that kid.
01:20:04Come on, give him a break, would you?

01:22:22Never better.
01:22:23I mean, I don't know what's wrong with these people, but...
01:22:25Because you're not a champion, you're a crumb-bug dirtbag.
01:22:29Come on, Paul, give him a break.
01:22:31Let's do something wonderful.
01:22:34Long live the king!
01:22:36I'd like to say thank you.
01:22:37I'd like to thank the man who made this happen.
01:22:40And I'd like to thank the man who made me believe that all this could happen.
01:22:43The man who's been like an angel on my shoulder.
01:22:45Mr. George, what's that do?
01:22:47Yeah!
01:22:50And there you have it.
01:22:51A new champion of the world, Tommy, the Machine Gun.
01:22:55Boy, I'll tell you, a big surprise, at least to me,
01:22:58that the new champion thanked Duke instead of the guy that got him.
01:23:02This crowd is unhappy.
01:23:04And the only person who really profits from this upheaval is the promoter, George...
01:23:09Rocco, too much TV is bad for your eyes.
01:23:11No, my eyes are okay, Paul.
01:23:13Too much TV is bad for my ears.
01:23:15Yeah.
01:23:17Hey, that's a lot of good fight, huh?
01:23:19It's okay, Dad.
01:23:21You're the real champ around here. I made this for you.
01:23:23Oh, yeah?
01:23:25Beautiful.
01:23:28Rocco, let's put our teeth around a few brews, okay?
01:23:31I could lose the company.
01:23:32Yeah, good idea.
01:23:35Do you think I should go out with George Caballi?
01:23:37If I can watch TV?
01:23:38Yeah, you're okay.
01:23:40Yeah, you can watch TV, okay, but don't stay up too late.
01:23:43You gotta get them bones going.
01:23:45All right.
01:23:46Okay.
01:23:47Wow, what a fight.
01:23:49Yeah.
01:23:50That was something.
01:23:51Something.
01:23:52Jeez.
01:23:53I told you you could give him everything, but you...
01:23:55you can't give him your heart.
01:23:57Oh, it's okay, Jane, really.
01:23:59Yeah.
01:24:00Yeah, it's...
01:24:01It's all right.
01:24:04Hey, kid, don't you stay up too late, okay?
01:24:08I was so afraid.
01:24:11Are you okay?
01:24:12Oh, sure.
01:24:15I won't be out too late.
01:24:17Okay.
01:24:18See you, champ.
01:24:20Yeah, yeah, have a good time with Uncle Pauly.
01:24:23Yeah.
01:24:30Ladies and gentlemen, let me present to you the newest,
01:24:32the youngest heavyweight champion of all time,
01:24:35Tommy the Machine Gunn!
01:24:38Do you think the fight was too easy?
01:24:40If you get shot, I was never hurt.
01:24:42I mean, I'm just glad to be the champ, you know?
01:24:44Tommy, don't you think that this looked more like
01:24:46a Philadelphia sparring session at times
01:24:48instead of a championship match?
01:24:50It looked like you broke a sweat.
01:24:51Yeah, yeah, yeah, very observant.
01:24:53Union Kane wasn't feeling that good,
01:24:55but Tommy Gunn would have done the same thing
01:24:57if Union was 100%.
01:24:59100%?
01:25:00Hey, bollock, you didn't have a heartbeat.
01:25:02Come on.
01:25:03Everybody knows that Kane is just a paper champion.
01:25:05What do you mean by paper champion?
01:25:07It means Kane's title is manufactured.
01:25:09He never won it from Balboa.
01:25:11Gentlemen, get a bar break.
01:25:12Union Kane is for real.
01:25:13Tommy, you ever think you're gonna get out from underneath
01:25:15Rocky Balboa's shadow?
01:25:16Man, I won the title.
01:25:17What more do I have to do?
01:25:18I'll tell you what you have to do.
01:25:19You've got to fight some real opponents, right?
01:25:22Balboa fight.
01:25:24The bestest guy's a bum.
01:25:26He doesn't even deserve a shot at the title.
01:25:28Whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:25:29We're getting carried away.
01:25:30Now, Union Kane was the recognized champion.
01:25:32Next question.
01:25:33We know the rating system can be manipulated.
01:25:35The bottom line is Tommy Gunn beat a second-rate fighter
01:25:38with so much glass in his jaw, he ought to be a chandelier.
01:25:41Say what you want,
01:25:42but this man will prove to be a great champion.
01:25:45He might win a few fights,
01:25:46but a Rocky Balboa he'll never beat.
01:25:48No, no, no, no, no, no.
01:25:49He's no Rocky Balboa.
01:25:50Let's face it.
01:25:51There's only one Balboa.
01:25:52Now, Balboa was a true people's champion,
01:25:54but in time, Tommy Gunn may be able to finish him.
01:25:58Next question.
01:25:59By fighting stiffs like Kane, he won't.
01:26:01Hey, man, I'll fight anybody, anywhere.
01:26:03Anywhere.
01:26:04When?
01:26:05When are you gonna fight a real fighter?
01:26:06Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen, come on.
01:26:08Thank you for coming tonight,
01:26:09and we look forward to seeing you.
01:26:11Hey, Tommy, Tommy, I got something for you.
01:26:13For your next fight,
01:26:14why don't you fight the redhead in the front row?
01:26:16I hear she comes real cheap.
01:26:17What about her?
01:26:18We look forward to seeing you at Tommy Gunn's next fight.
01:26:23How the hell did you say Balboa was better, man?
01:26:25Do you believe he's better?
01:26:26Of course not.
01:26:27We can't talk of you, huh?
01:26:29When are you gonna fight your next fight, Tommy?
01:26:32Man, what the hell happened in there?
01:26:34I wasn't damn tired of these people thinking I'm a bum.
01:26:36Man, why didn't you take him from me in there?
01:26:38Paul, listen to me.
01:26:39When the press is right, they're right.
01:26:40Right?
01:26:41Man, I'm as good as Balboa ever was.
01:26:42I don't give a damn what they say,
01:26:43and I'm tired of being called a damn robot, too.
01:26:45Listen to me, Tommy Gunn.
01:26:46You can't fight the press.
01:26:47I can't fight the dogs of the press.
01:26:49And as long as they got Balboa in the brain,
01:26:51he'll always be champion.
01:26:52The man fought wars in the ring.
01:26:53Tommy, face facts.
01:26:54You're in his shadow.
01:26:55I don't know if there's any way out.
01:26:57No, no, no, no, listen to me.
01:26:58There's a way for you to get the respect you deserve,
01:27:00but what you got to do is challenge Balboa
01:27:02to fight man to man.
01:27:03That's right, George.
01:27:04You can set this fight up abroad in a matter of weeks.
01:27:06Oh, yeah, it'll be the greatest fight ever.
01:27:08Teacher against student.
01:27:09Old lion against young lion.
01:27:11And it's the only way you're ever gonna get peace of mind,
01:27:13because believe me when I tell you,
01:27:14that press is gonna hound you with that man's legend
01:27:17for as long as you dare to wear boxing gloves.
01:27:19You gotta get him into that ring, Tommy Gunn,
01:27:21or you're gonna be here in question like you heard tonight
01:27:23for the rest of your life.
01:27:24Then you're gonna start to ask yourself,
01:27:25could I really take him?
01:27:27Am I really good enough?
01:27:28Do people really think I'm a cheap carbon copy
01:27:30or a second-rate pretender
01:27:31who only got a shot because of my skin tone?
01:27:34Got to challenge that man to fight, Tommy Gunn.
01:27:37And if he refuses, then you gotta insult him!
01:27:40You gotta dog him!
01:27:41You gotta humiliate him.
01:27:42You gotta do whatever you got to do
01:27:44to get him into that ring,
01:27:45but that's what you got to do!
01:27:48Okay, blast off, roll in silver.
01:27:51And now, oh, Andy.
01:27:53Andy, flip this here, flip that.
01:27:54Yo, Andy.
01:27:55Hey, that machine cost me a fortune.
01:27:56Yeah, well, it cost me a fortune too, you know.
01:27:59Rocky Balboa.
01:28:01What the hell was that?
01:28:02Rocky Balboa, there's a man out here
01:28:04wishing to speak with you.
01:28:06Rocky Balboa!
01:28:10Rocco, you know who that is, huh?
01:28:12Yeah, I know.
01:28:14Well, Rocco, you need some help?
01:28:16No, guys, ain't no fight and contest.
01:28:22Oh, look what's in the street.
01:28:24Yo, Tommy, what are you doing here?
01:28:26You ought to be out there celebrating, right?
01:28:28Man, I'm challenging you to a fight.
01:28:30Anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
01:28:32Fight?
01:28:33That's right.
01:28:34You're coming down here with these people
01:28:36asking me if I want to throw a fight.
01:28:38I'm not throwing a fight.
01:28:40I'm challenging you to a fight.
01:28:42These people asking me if I want to throw hands with you?
01:28:45Is that what this is about?
01:28:46Yeah, that's what it's about.
01:28:47And I ain't nobody's robot, nobody's boy.
01:28:49Now you're accepting the challenge or you're yellow?
01:28:52Hey, he has no class.
01:28:54Come on, Rocco.
01:28:55He has no class.
01:28:57Come on.
01:28:58Let's go outside.
01:28:59Come on.
01:29:00Yeah, I didn't believe it.
01:29:02Let's go outside.
01:29:03Let's go outside.
01:29:04Let's go outside.
01:29:05Hey, you!
01:29:06Hey, boy.
01:29:07Hey, boy, hey, you know.
01:29:09You want to shoot some eight-ball or something?
01:29:12Man, I ain't through talking with you yet.
01:29:14Hey, look, Tommy.
01:29:15I ain't got no more to say to you, OK?
01:29:17Look, I just want good things for you, all right?
01:29:19Oh, hell, you do.
01:29:20And you're only in this for the money.
01:29:21Money?
01:29:22Yeah, I'm tired of walking around in your shadow, man.
01:29:23People call me your robot.
01:29:24You thought I was in this for the money, Tommy?
01:29:26You know, we were supposed to be like brothers.
01:29:29You don't remember that?
01:29:30Of course.
01:29:31You don't know this, but you got a deception going here.
01:29:33This guy here, he was using you for the bait.
01:29:35He wants to get you and me in the ring.
01:29:37That's what he wants us to fight each other, you know?
01:29:39To make the money, right?
01:29:40He don't care about you, Tommy.
01:29:41He don't care about me neither, right?
01:29:43Come on, come on.
01:29:44Enough with the fantasy.
01:29:45Let's talk reality.
01:29:46Rocky Balboa, are you prepared to accept Tommy Gunn's challenge?
01:29:50Tommy.
01:29:51All right.
01:29:52Hey!
01:29:53I would have taken you anytime.
01:29:55Tommy, you're a piece of garbage, you know that?
01:29:57This ain't none of your business.
01:29:58Ain't none of my business?
01:29:59Come on, boy.
01:30:00Ain't none of my business?
01:30:01Boy, forget about it.
01:30:02The man spit blood for you.
01:30:03He put your head in his own family.
01:30:05And you bring these rat bums around here?
01:30:07Tommy!
01:30:08Tommy, you got any dignity?
01:30:09Rocco made you your shot, you know that?
01:30:11He's the real champ.
01:30:12You're just a goddamn joke.
01:30:13Now, just get out of here before I break your back.
01:30:15Come on, man.

01:30:18Tommy!
01:30:19Come on, man.
01:30:20What?
01:30:21Break your hand on that bum and what are you working on, huh?
01:30:23Paul, are you okay?
01:30:24Let go of me.
01:30:25You should have left him on the street where you found him.
01:30:27Get off me, man.
01:30:28Get him out of here.
01:30:29Get him out of here.
01:30:30Get him out of here.

01:30:34Tommy.
01:30:35Get off me.
01:30:36Now, you knocked him down.
01:30:38Now, won't you try knocking me down now?
01:30:40No, no.
01:30:41In the ring.
01:30:42In the ring.
01:30:43Tommy Gunn only fights in the ring.
01:30:44Let's get out of here.
01:30:45My ring's outside.
01:30:46Yeah?
01:30:47Let's do it.
01:30:48Come on!

01:38:48No way.
01:38:50I don't know. It's like these steps keep growing taller every year.
01:38:54My goodness.
01:38:56Look at this thing, kid.
01:38:58As long as this thing is here,
01:39:00Pidges is always gonna have a place to sit, right?
01:39:03I can't believe it. You know what?
01:39:05This is where it all started for me, kid.
01:39:07Running up and down these steps, you know.
01:39:10Dad, we're gonna be late.
01:39:12Oh, yeah, okay.
01:39:14Hey, wait a minute. What's wrong with your ear?
01:39:16What's wrong with it?
01:39:18You got something growing here. You got, like, a bump.
01:39:20What bump?
01:39:22This bump.
01:39:27Thanks, dad.
01:39:29You deserve it. Thank you for being born.
01:39:32Thank you for being born.
01:39:34Thank you, thank you.
01:39:36What do you think? You knew me?
01:39:39Oh, well, uh...
01:39:41You look like the daughter that I always wanted.
01:39:43Wait, Tom.
01:39:45Hey, don't punch me. I'm getting riddled as it is.
01:39:48Look at this, you know.
01:39:50I've been running up and down these steps for 20 years,
01:39:53and I never knew there was valuable pictures in this building, you know.
01:39:56Well, you're never too old to learn something new.
01:39:58You're gonna love Picasso.
01:40:01Oh, yeah, well, I love almost everybody.
01:40:14These battered hands are all you own
01:40:21This broken heart that's turned to stone
01:40:26Go hang your glory on the wall
01:40:30There comes a time when castles fall
01:40:36And all that's left is shifting in the sand
01:40:41You're out of time, you're out of place
01:40:45Look at your face, that's the measure of a man
01:40:56This coat that fits you like a glove
01:41:04These dirty streets you learn to love
01:41:11So welcome back, my long-lost friend
01:41:15You've been to hell and back again
01:41:20God alone knows how you brought that span
01:41:26Back on the beat, back to the start
01:41:30Trust in your heart, that's the measure of a man
01:41:41It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
01:41:46It's the things you understand
01:41:49Permanent ties from which you once ran
01:41:53That's the measure of a man
01:41:59You come home, sir, but now you're home
01:42:06Without the gold, without the chrome
01:42:11This is the way you've always been
01:42:16You had to lose so you could win
01:42:21Rise above your troubles while you can
01:42:27Now you can love, now you can lose
01:42:31Now you can choose, that's the measure of a man
01:42:41It's the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
01:42:46It's the things you understand
01:42:49Permanent ties from which you once ran
01:42:53That's the measure of a man
01:43:11You come full circle, now you're home
01:43:19Without the gold, without the chrome
01:43:26This is the way you've always been
01:43:30You had to lose so you could win
01:43:35Rise above your troubles while you can
01:43:41Now you can love, now you can lose
01:43:45Now you can choose, that's the measure of a man
01:44:04Thank you for watching!
