00:00Money, money, money, money, money.
00:03Everybody's got a price, everybody's gonna pay, cuz the million dollar man always gets
00:09his way.
00:10Wait a minute, is Ted DiBiase's song and The Mounties' song just the same thing?
00:14Have I just discovered something?
00:16Is Jim Johnston a fraud?
00:17Anyway, something about money, something about a ladder, something about a briefcase, da
00:21da da da da, here's your guaranteed four stars.
00:23Money in the bank is almost always great, and thus those matches have created many a
00:28great moment, and today we get to talk about them, cuz the pay-per-view is next Saturday.
00:32Isn't that fun?
00:34Come on Pete Dunn, please come out of witness protection.
00:36I'm Tempest Haling from PartsFunKnown, and these are the 10 greatest Money in the Bank
00:40ladder match spots ever.
00:42Before we get on with this list, make sure of course that you like this video, give it
00:45that big ol' thumbs up, it helps out a lot, and make sure that you subscribe so we can
00:49get ever closer to our 250,000 subscriber goal.
00:53We're gonna be doing a four person MyGM livestream when we hit that mark, so help us get there
00:58Honorable Mention The Smaller Roof
01:00The Climb the Corporate Ladder match is dumb, and I would very much wish for it to be deleted
01:04from my memory banks, but it can't be because I will never allow myself to forget Rey Mysterio
01:09and Aleister Black's murder at the hands of Baron Corbin via roof-throwing.
01:13WWE then upgraded their conditions to alive the next day on Raw, revealing a smaller roof
01:19next to the roof.
01:20Clearly Rey and Aleister just have superpowers because that would be more believable you
01:24see.
01:25Number 10, Even More Painful Than It Looks
01:28Kevin Owens has always been someone to put his body through large amounts of pain for
01:32the sake of a good Money in the Bank match, which makes it even more baffling that KO
01:36hasn't won one, but I digress.
01:38Speaking of getting KO'd, the powerbomb bump he took going backwards through a ladder
01:42to the floor at Money in the Bank 2021 was one of the gnarliest moments in any ladder
01:47match of any kind, but the PFK World Headquarters favorite Kevin Owens spot came five years
01:52earlier.
01:53During the 2016 match, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens' longtime personal frenemy, decided to hit
01:58a Michinoku Driver, a good move, but he decided to hit it on a ladder stood upright on its
02:04side leaving KO draped across it like Homer Simpson on a fire hydrant.
02:08And like being bent back over a fire hydrant, this Michinoku Driver was even more painful
02:12than it looks.
02:14It is one of only two things I remember from this match along with the Triple Hockey fight,
02:18and that's half a line brawl.
02:19Number 9, The Biggest Boom Drop
02:21Taking Money in the Bank from WrestleMania to its own branded pay-per-view gave us three
02:25Money in the Bank matches in 2010.
02:28Three totally fine, yet almost entirely forgettable matches.
02:32WrestleMania 26 featured probably the weakest Mania in the Bank match, which had its moments
02:37for sure, including but not limited to Kofi Kingston using a ladder as stilts, the single
02:41most impractical way to climb a ladder in the history of ladders, the Raw match I remember
02:46literally nothing about, but the SmackDown match was a ton of fun.
02:50And about half of that ton came from Big Show and his giant ladder.
02:53The big spot of this match came when Kofi Kingston, the man who should have had a Superstars
02:582010 and instead spent the year giving me reasons to remember Money in the Bank matches,
03:03hit the biggest boom drop of his career off a ladder through a table.
03:06Kofi didn't win the match, as was the story of his year, but he was damn sure the highlight.
03:11Number 8, Great Powerbomb, Terrible Landing
03:14It is a damn shame that Brock Lesnar cashing in his Brock Lesnar and the Bank contract
03:18to insert himself into the Money in the Bank ladder match is the main thing people remember
03:22about it in 2019, because that match is gangbusters.
03:26It had a particularly good lineup of potential winners, with potential being the operative
03:30word of course, and that lineup made for some cool ass moments.
03:34Ricochet did some flips and stuff, Oli forgot how to win a ladder match, but the best of
03:38the bunch came from Andrade and Finn Balor.
03:41With Andrade atop a ladder and Finn coming up to catch him, Andrade took notice of the
03:45ladder bridge in front of him, climbed to the very tippy top, and went for a sunset
03:49flip powerbomb now pause.
03:52Normally this would be a pretty safe landing, with plenty of give as the ladder would be
03:55resting on the ropes, now hit play, and see how horribly this awesome spot plays out.
04:00Andrade lands on the ladder first off the flip and knocks the ladder out of the grasp
04:04of its ladder brethren, making for a long drop and a sudden stop for ol' Finn, a sudden
04:09stop that sent him sailing into the air.
04:12You won't see ol' Broccoli Lesbord taking that bump, I tell you that.
04:167.
04:17CM Punk – No longer a Paul Heyman guy Yes, not every spot on this list is filled
04:21with a high spot, here we appreciate the drama as well.
04:26CM Punk was a big Paul Heyman guy, you'll know, he'll tell you about it.
04:30When those two were paired up on screen in September of 2012, there was rejoicing in
04:34the streets heralding the arrival of the best manager-wrestler pairing in years, and for
04:40about 9 months, things were just peachy cream.
04:42Then Punk started acting a little too babyface-like, and he had to be dealt with in the same way
04:47Virgil took care of Luca and the Godfather.
04:49At Money in the Bank 2013, the WWE title briefcase was contested between 5 all-star babyfaces
04:55and Sheamus, and just as it was Punk's turn to go for the win, Paul encouraged him to
04:59climb and then stuck the proverbial knife in his back and the literal ladder in his
05:04ass.
05:05They shared a look, Punk of betrayal, Paul of venom, and then Paul wiped Punk out with
05:09a ladder shot to the dome.
05:11A great moment of theater mixed in amongst the ladder-based carnage, one foreshadowed
05:15by Brock Lesnar's attack on Punk weeks earlier, and paid off to perfection.
05:206.
05:21Sin Cara Joins Twitch
05:22It is a good thing that Triple H's track record of NXT-era hires overshadows the first
05:27year of his executive career in 2011, where his major hires were the unfortunately timed
05:32arrival of Karma, and the unfortunate in every way arrival of the original Sin Cara.
05:37Unable to work with, unwilling to adapt to the American style, and frequent injuries
05:41were the story of Sin Cara originale, but just a few months into his WWE run, he also
05:46failed a wellness test, you naughty sausage.
05:49This resulted in him being written off TV in the most brutal way possible, competing
05:53in the very good Smackdown Money in the Bank ladder match, and being powerbombed through
05:56a ladder bridge by Sheamus.
05:58The move was great, as is the case with the other powerbombs mentioned on this list, but
06:02what made this one so memorable was the selling.
06:05Rather than just clutching his neck and back and such, Sin Cara lay on the ground twitching
06:09and convulsing, being stretchered out for his conveniently 30-day hospital visit.
06:145.
06:15The Tease That Was Better Than The Feud
06:17You know, for as unremarkable as the AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura rivalry was in 2018, I think their
06:23stare down in the 2017 Money in the Bank ladder match was equally as excellent.
06:28Only a year and a half removed from their bonkers good match at WrestleKingdom 10, Styles
06:32and Nakamura had been kept apart for Nakamura's first several months on the main roster, and
06:36for the first several minutes of this match, as Baron Corbin had to be a stinky poo-poo
06:40head and attack Nakamura during his entrance.
06:43When Shinsuke re-emerged, he came face to face with his old adversary, and at the time
06:47best wrestler in North America, AJ Styles.
06:50WWE will very often try to manufacture an epic stare down moment, look up Cena and Orton
06:55in the 2011 Rumble if you dare, but this was one that hit on exactly what WWE's audience
07:00was waiting to see.
07:02The energy in the arena just shifts as everybody there knows they are getting a magical moment
07:06in real time.
07:08An epic tease of epic proportions, it's just a shame that the actual feud wasn't,
07:13you know, good.
07:14Number 4, The Moonsault Plus I'm one of the people who misses Money in
07:18the Bank being part of Wrestlemania.
07:20Maybe it's because I'm nostalgic for this time in my life, maybe it's the huge crowd
07:24adding to the matches, or maybe it's because you are guaranteed to see some batshit insane
07:29things like the last four spots on this list.
07:32Wrestlemania 24's Money in the Bank match had a bunch of stellar highlights.
07:36MVP's fate being twisted by a returning Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin flip diving through
07:41a ladder bridge, maybe the best Tower of Doom spot ever, it's good stuff, but my favorite
07:46moment from my first ever ladder match has to be John Morrison's Moonsault Plus Ladder.
07:51The way the ladder opens mid Moonsault to take out everyone on the floor, it is by the
07:55very definition of the word, spectacular.
07:59It's a shame that this match had to end for Morrison with his meat and two veg crushed
08:02on the top rope, because with a spot like this he deserved so much more.
08:07Number 3, Shelton Dives into the Pool Shelton Benjamin was the early years handy
08:11dandy human highlight reel when it came to Money in the Bank matches.
08:15His flip dive through the ladder at Mania 24 is sickening, his running flip dive at
08:19Mania 22 is scary as hell as it always looks like that ladder is going to slide out from
08:23under him, but the cream of the flip dive crop came at Wrestlemania 25.
08:28Early on in this match, everyone takes turns jumping onto the pile on the outside, with
08:32the jump starting small and getting progressively bigger.
08:35From apron dive, to suicide dive, to top rope dive, to finally this, Shelton Benjamin leaping
08:41off the top of a very big ladder in the aisleway just to barely be caught by his waiting targets.
08:46It looks like he's doing a dive into the pool!
08:49It is a terrifying but terrific moment, continuing to prove that Shelton damn sure should have
08:54been given a lot more than he was.
08:562.
08:57Jeff Hardy Forgets About Winning You know, sometimes things are more important
09:00than winning, like attempting to murder the guy that stole your brother's girl.
09:04Wrestlemania 23's Money in the Bank match is a legendarily star-studded affair.
09:08Edge, Orton, Punk, Booker, both Hardys, top guys who can have a great ladder match, and
09:14this match had no shortage of big moments either.
09:17Orton's massive RKO on Punk, Kennedy crushing Hornswoggle, Booker's bookend, it is a fantastic
09:23match and it provided us with maybe the most iconic Money in the Bank ladder match spot
09:27of all time.
09:28Jeff Hardy, ever the risk taker, usually happy to forego winning the match in order to make
09:32a huge moment, climbs a big ass ladder in the ring when his dear brother Matt calls
09:37for him to take out his nemesis Edge who had been laid out across the ladder bridge.
09:41In this moment, Jeff could have won, then jumped, but nay, Jeff leapt off, crushing
09:46Edge to bit with a great call on commentary, an incredible camera shot, and a roar of 80,000
09:52fans.
09:53This is a moment that would go on to be played in Do Not Try This At Home videos for years
09:57to come, and it remains one of the most iconic, brutal, and perfect Money in the Bank moments
10:01ever, but in terms of best, there is but one that tops it.
10:06Number 1, Shelton Goes For A Run.
10:08There's that name again, Shelton Benjamin, one of the six men involved in the first ever
10:13Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, but certainly the one the Highlight Reel
10:17editor loved the most.
10:18The first Money in the Bank match pretty much had to be good for the stipulation to stick,
10:22and on paper, yeah, put six good workers in a ladder match and it should yield results,
10:26but allow Shelton Benjamin to run wild and you have yourself a brand new smash hit match.
10:31A topey to the outside, superb, a t-bone suplex off a ladder, scrumptious, but the absolute
10:37best we have ever gotten in Money in the Bank came as Chris Jericho reached for the briefcase
10:42only for Shelton to run up a tilted ladder and clothesline Jericho down.
10:46There are so many ways this could go wrong.
10:49Shelton misses one step, catastrophe.
10:52The ladder slides out of the rung even slightly, catastrophe.
10:56Shelton even just takes his time running, maybe not a catastrophe, but it wouldn't have
11:00been as great as what we got.
11:02A perfect, seamless moment, helping to crown Money in the Bank as the success we now know
11:07it to be.
11:08Shout out to Shelton Benjamin, now and always.
11:11And that's our list.
11:12Make sure, of course, that you like this video, subscribe, and enable notifications to always
11:15on so you never miss a fun list just like it, and make sure you check out a clip from
11:19last week's list right here.
11:21All of a sudden, Mox has a plethora of excellent rivals whose blood has filled his ledger.
11:27Oh no, it's completely filled.
11:29There's so much blood.
11:30It's like the elevator doors have opened in The Shining and usually the blood gets off
11:33on the second floor.
